Ladies... if you have 4c hair use grease or shea butter. Please don't trust words of someone that is 3b or higher. They DONT KNOW and will never know what's best for you.
Thank you
This is true me and my daughter have 4b/4c hair and have tried every oil there is nothing works. I had hair down my back when I was younger from my mother using grease and water!
How often should I grease my 4c hair? Is it just scalp or should I also moisturize hair then seal moisture with grease?
@@chrismac870 just hair.
@@chrismac870 whew don’t do the scalp you’ll clog your pores, make sure you’re using water, and then if you want conditioner, then grease (although i’d recommend water and grease only cause personally i don’t like to risk scalp irritation but honestly it works just as well)
Yes! Grease helps with my length retention. I live in a hot and humid climate and I have naturally high porosity, fine hair so I loose moisture quickly. Grease is my sealant superhero
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Omg I think this describes my hair. High porosity and fine. Why have I never known this 😱
Omg same!
Grease helps seals hair for retention...
Should we grease our scalp and hair or just hair only?
I stopped using grease on my scalp cause of how everyone says it’s bad for your scalp but honestly since I’ve been using it again my scalp has felt soooo much better. I think people should just use what’s best for their hair 🤷🏽♀️
Grease is good for your scalp just use an oil based grease so it doesn’t clog your follicles
When I first went natural I had the best diet and saw so much thickness and health but as I started going to work and school my diet has become trash and I’ve noticed a change in my hair. A clean diet is key in hair growth and health. This economic inflation and my tiredness won’t let me be great though 😭😭😭
Try a multivitamin
That’s not necessarily true I know people who may not have the best diet have long hair….having a clean diet has nothing to do with hair growth…taking good care of your hair makes your hair grow
I bet those people are young, probably between the ages of 20 to 30 or probably 35 or something. Their unhealthy dieting will eventually catch up with their hair. of course people differ in that aspect, some see immediate effects once their diet goes downhill whilst others may not see instant changes, but that does not mean their diet will not have an impact on their hair in the future. Diet does have a huge impact in hair growth and health, of course if your aim is to retain lenght and keep your hair healthy, taking care of it will definetely help. But a healthy diet is always the foundation of hair growth and length retention.
*Hugs* I know how you feel. I'm struggling too.
Yasssssssss i need to get on this its like i know this but struggle to do it
Grease definitely helps me out. Some of us need something heavier. I agree grease is not what grows hair necessarily but it helps with retention
That’s what he said 🙄
@@Tahihayes. I said I agree with him. 😊
Most people usually don't massage their scalp when applying grease. They usually just part the hair and apply it on the scalp. I believe grease aides in hair growth.
It helped my hair grow, ever since I’ve been using hair grease which contains a variety of good oils fortified with vitamins my hair has been soft, shiny, moisturized and manageable.
My 4C hair loves it! The heavier/thicker the grease the better.
Same sis! Sulfur 8, as stinky as it is, is a hair staple for me. It has literally grown my hair down my back.
Absolutely, same for me.
Kuza grease is the BOMB! Softens hair like no other!
I agree my hair loves hair grease!
@@creamycazz1 hehe. i have some in mine now. The 'cooling' effect has been going on for like the last 15 minutes. haha
After trial and error with the natural hair community, my hair became thin and brittle. a few months going back to blue magic products, baaaabyyy my hair bounced back! Geese may not be the sole purpose of hair growth, but it keeps my hair healthy in this New Mexico weather!
Not lying, moved there now and back to grease.
Uuuhhhh what was I even DOOOING before I found your TikTok and TH-cam channel??? Love it!
Thanks so much! I hope it’s been helpful!!
grease only acts as a sealant to retain moisture and length and u dont even need to use much or use daily unless its necessary so yes grease can grow hair if u use it correctly
Hair growth is from cells dividing and coming together into a “hair” strand. Hair develops from the follicles that are within your scalp. Those follicles are activated by nerves which gives blood supply and nutrients to the follicle. That’s why healthy diet and vitamins are essential for hair growth. Grease stays on the top layer of the scalp it can retain length by coating your strands and preventing breakage. Now oils like essential oils has properties that can heal and protect the scalp when using small amounts over the scalp. :)
Edit: too much grease can cause buildup and clog the follicles. Which slows hair growth A LOT
This is why I REALLY don’t like the concept of “greasing your scalp”. Scalp is already producing sebum and with our hair it cant travel down the hair shaft due to all the coils/kinks. Hence the need for water and grease to lock it moisture and lubricate the strands. I used to think i had dandruff as a child. But it was just my scalp reacting to constantly being clogged up with product and only getting cleaned once a month.
@@AA-yc9dqSame here and during transitioning it caused buildup and made my scalp irritated. After using apple cider vinegar it has helped me a lot
Blue Magic Hair Conditioners are the best! It helps moisturized the hair and gives that shiny protected glow to the hair. ❤
Grease is good, even as a child my Mom used it daily on our hair but it is the massage and the blood flow along with other hair care products the really help out with new growth
Grease and water grew our hair growing up, that’s the case study and proof in the pudding. Did you get greased up growing up and used as an adult… then let us be us and use what we want to grow our hairz
Exactly 💯😅
What he's saying is that hair is always growing and the rate of growth is dependent on genetics. Your diet and encouraging blood flow with scalp massages can attribute to it, but your hair is always growing regardless. Grease doesn't necessarily help it grow from the scalp, but it can keep your scalp moisturized and help you RETAIN the length that your hair is getting by keeping the moisture on your ends sealed.
@@kurlykpopfan8111no it don't depend on genetics only. I did rice water rinse for a week and hair grew faster.
@@kurlykpopfan8111even what we put on it. Genetics plays a part yes but taking care of your hair is most important.
People definitely get this confused with retention. No product just makes hair grow. It can aid in helping your body do that and help with retention but the body grows hair.
Why was our hair so thick and full when our moms were combing our hair with grease? If u have 4c hair stay away from oils and products with alcohol you will be doing yourself a big disservice! Use hair grease!
It was probably thicker back then due to less manipulation and breakage. a lot of times when girls enter teenage year they start experimenting and damage their hair with heat and chemicals
Young age is definitely a factor and hormones as well…
@@janereyrules1083 ma'am here are 80-year-olds with long THICK healthy hair so get tf outta here with that
You have ageless skin, no blemishes. I used to put grease in my hair old habit from my childhood.
Thanks so much! Thanks for watching!
Always a person with not one strand of nappy hair😮 ....tellmg us about napoy hair and grease 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Exactly 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
My mother used grease only on our 4c hair growing up and hair did grow faster.
he is right nothing grows your hair except your body, it helps with length retention, but everyone in the comments seem to be confusing that with hair growth.
Your knowledge should not be free! But since it is…THANK YOU!❤
Such a pleasure, thank you for watching!
Shhhhh!!!!!! 🤫🤫🤫🤫🤐🤐
@@ninasmom09 🤣🤣🤣 My bad
It isn't for his students..lol
Hair grease has always worked well on my hair . It doesn’t make it grow but it helps me to retain my growth by reducing breakage. Side note:📝 I use a more “stripping” shampoo with sulfates because it’s the only thing that removes it. Them “natural” shampoos have me using half the bottle to clean my hair lol . Ladies use what works best for YOU.
I’m going to disagree on this one. The back of my head was the thinnest for years tried everything. I picked up sulfur 8 and kept applying it all throughout my scalp mainly the back and now my hair has gotten thicker and the back of my scalp is no longer thin. Sulfur 8 and blue magic has been growing my hair like crazy. Grease is really great for type 4 hair.
Grease only grows 4C hair, thats probably why he hasn’t seen growth cause all I use is sulfur 8 and a leave in on the weekends and my shit went from bald to down to my shoulders.
If you have dry hair, like most 4 types, grease is essential! I’m a cosmetologist as well, doing hair on Broadway and I promise you, it doesn’t make your hair grow but if it’s dry, it will give it the moisture it needs in order to flourish. That’s why everyone, with oiler hair types, hair grows faster and longer than ours…it’s the moisture! I agree with those before me, he don’t have the experience we have with our hair and we don’t need to be licensed for that! Good luck and stay moisturized💪🏾
Thank u for explaining this I have 4c hair two different textures and my hair is so dry and brittle due to neglect I just went and brought blue magic to moisturize my hair and I used some today after washing and put the grease on my hair while damp and I can tell the difference almost immediately 😮
It does help aid in hair growth
But he didn't say that grease is essential. His point is that grease doesn't grow hair.
@@preztjuswoman Please direct me to the part in my comment where I said that HE said that. Actually, I as well, SPECIFICALLY said it doesn’t grow your hair. What I did say is that grease is essential for dry hair and with hair down the middle of my back, I stand on that! But listen to the man with straight curly hair tell you how to grow thick, coily hair. It has definitely worked for us in the past🙄🤦🏾♀️
@@jhovauni The point of the video is that grease doesn't grow hair not whether or not grease is essential. Where do expertise and licensing come in? 😂😂😂😂
It’s that Blue Magic Linwood 😂😂😂
Grease is a sealant which contributes to length retention = visible hair growth
Just as he stated, grease does not grow hair. Just as you've stated grease seals the hair, reducing breakage. Without breakage, length is retained.
Semantics! FINE. Grease helps length retention.
if u have 4c hair definitely use grease. i’ve seen massive hair growth with my hair.
my TYPE FOUR hair loves her some grease 😭😭😭😭 my hair has grown like 3-4 inches since i started using grease again. high porosity type 4 hair needs grease and heavy things like butters the oils are not enough when the entire hair shaft is open it literally needs something to fill in the spaces AND create a FILM to trap moisture inside. spray with water, use grease, clarify your hair. y’all make is so much more than it is
Low porosity water light moisturizer and grease does wonders also wrapping my hair at night.
🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿
Grease works great for moisture when I leave my braids or twists in for a long time but I don’t use grease when my hair is out.
Nothing but grease has keep my hair moisturized n keeps it growing stronger than ever. But I also take alot of supplements n raw juice.
My hair hates grease. I haven't used it since I was a child. My hair loves water and as long as it's is wet, it will grow.
I was looking for this comment because even though grease was used on my hair as a child, my hair was never long.
I tried going back to it recently with so many saying it's been a game changer to use it to seal in your moisture. My hair would feel moisturized at first, but then it would be super dry by the next day.
I've tried so many different greases. My hair just doesn't seem to like it 🤷🏾♀️
the only thing that scientifically helps with hair growth is rosemary oil (and i think that was mostly on people with alopecia) but other than that, i think people see a difference with grease purely because slippery hair = less breakage, less breakage = hair appears longer. Although honestly that's why any oil and silicone based products work.
True story, it is a great sealant, and can add slip, it just doesn’t increase growth rate. Thanks for watching!
Rosemary is the GOAT. but I've found most herbs I've tried keep my scalp healthy and prevent hair fall(increase growth cycle). fenugreek made the biggest difference, but ....I had to stop using it because it affected my hormones and grew my boobs too big)
Pepper and aloe vera do as well
The grease moisturizes the scalp. Oil comes out of your scalp naturally that's what sebum is so adding extra oil to the scalp keeps it very moisturized.
Grease & oils keep your hair from drying out, it gives it moisture & other benefits and helps it grow. I went 5 months without grease or oils and my hair started to break & fall like never before, also the growth wasn't as fast as when I was using oils. My hair is back on track due to some very good oils, even hair grease. Our hair textures are definitely NOT the same. Its also another reason why We🙋🏿 don't get lice.
I use oil in my and my daughters hair directly after washing (LCO LOC methods) then only apply leave-in conditioner a couple of times per week to maintain moisture levels. I used to spray our hair with oil multiple times a week to maintain moisture levels and it didn’t seem to do anything but cause buildup. I only put oils in their hair once a month maybe even every other month because I don’t wash their hair that often either. Their hair is growing down their backs.
I wouldn’t trust anyone who didn’t address hair type and porosity before they gave their advice. I just wouldn’t.
Love your hair Mr. Linwood
Aww thank you so much! Thanks for watching!
Alot of black people have trouble lwith dry hair so i do agree with you. Alot of our hair break off at the ends and we never retain length.
Your hair looks great!
Aww thank you so much! Thanks for watching!
Grease protects scalp from friction which can cause folliculitis and scalp acne which in turn destroy hair follicles slowing hair down
Growing up mom used Castor oil to help my hair grow.
My hair is real real think, I hate combing it.
Black seed oil also will help
I had lost hair on edge on the corner because of rubber band hair method, I did.
I used a rubber band method because I can't braid. And it took out corner of my hair.
I put Black seed oil and rub my hair like you mentioned to get circulation and blood flow.
Two weeks later the spot was gone.
Black seed oil is good for a lot of things
So glad your hair grew back! What brand of black seed oil did you use please and thank you!
I've blessed with Linwood knowledge!!!🙌🙌🙌
Awww Thanks for watching!
Hey Linwood 👋
I trust your craft & knowledge.
Grease doesn’t make my hair grow, I have oily skin and scalp, I don’t need any additional grease or oils.
I’m natural, and my hair grows like crazy, it’s past my shoulder blades.
Clean, conditioner, frequent hair trims and less tension and manipulation….Growth and Retention.
Happy Holidays Boo & Glam Fam! 🎉🥰🎉
Thanks so much and be blessed! Have a wonderful year!!
I, agree with you that hair grows from the inside but we must understand that a healthy scape is major by eating healthy but also keeping the moisture in our hair is grease and water, and putting these two combinations together will help with a healthy head of hair.
Yes, you, are right about our hair it grows from the inside but moisture and grease are a combination to help our hair in our health journey and to have healthy hair strength. ❤
Hi Linwood!! Thank you!!
Loving❤️your hair in this clip...CURLS POPPING!!
Bro then why did i use my mom african grease she was at work😂 my hair went from 2 inch to 4 inch in just 2 month my mom was asking what kind of product i use and she knew got an ass whooping 😂
THANK YOU!!!!
My joy, thanks for watching!
Please continue to educate us, with real facts!
With pleasure!
Hi,
Yes, i also see a lot of discussions about grease and also hair oil that makes your hair grown.?
And about this topic i also has another opinion on that.
And that is that grease and oil doesn't specificaly makes your hair grown.
But it smooth the hair, specialy when your hair is dryer and brittle.
And it easier to comb the hair.
So there is also less of pulling/friction to the hair
(Next to that you must also use a leave in detangler conditioner).
And yes , it also that you need good healthy food and water.
And in combination wit that, you need massages your scalp on regular basic.
That's my opinion in my eyes on this matter
Do you have a video on nutritional diet suggestions to help increase hair growth? Thanks for sharing.
Unfortunately there is no diet because it pertains to each and every one of us individually and it is not just ingestables...it is a lifestyle and a mindset.
Medical insurance fights gambling habits.
Safety, health and love are invisible Armour. Gratitutde is the opposite of envy.
Find out what you are missing nutrient wise and what conditions you have ie. What is your gut biome Status?...meds on board?
Supplement nutrients with whole foods 1st, then properly-scorced-food-based-supplements, then eat nothing foreign (sugar without it's source plant, extracted oils, dyes, emulsifiers and taste enhancers...others ie. packaged ingredients)... only consume real food in its whole form and consume VAT pasturized milk and measure H20 for hydration. Drink tested, regular clean water. Add minerals if and decrease floride if needed. (trace minerals) You can go as far as eating seasonally, locally, airloom and crop rotated. Fat on meat is good...try to eat as nature intended and biblically clean animals without parasites and beasts properly slaughtered. Eat egg yolks WITH the eggs...unless you have a pre-existing conditions. If you have any reaction to a food...limit or omit it. Eat as nutritiously as you can but limit to only what you need to expend and increase in times of certain stressors.
Most of us are addicted to the American diet and unwilling to put forth the effort to cook our meals. So we must Resign ourselves to the inflammatory results. Also keep in mind that genetics are going to play into hair growth as well and that we have altered beauty and applied our own standards.
Sorry to say but "err thang"works together.
Calm; movements, friends lifestyle and environment. Work shift your circadian rhythm can handle. Community and laughter Feng shuii/ and as much research as you like. You CANNOT worry about anything you cannot control. That's a lot but you'll see some changes. Put everything in there... massages it's anything you can think of... comedy anything & everything. I forgot about something Get some fresh air crack a window when you sleep at night. Don't forget the vitamin D3 WITH K2 and Sun is good between midday but you do need sunscreen (melanin and stewed tomatoes) LOL.
HAVE FUN ONLY!!!
I think it's helped mine this winter. I agree with what you're saying too. It's hard to keep everything going at once!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you, Linwood, for this great advice. I have been massaging my hair with oils that are recommended for natural hair and my hair is looking great. I love forward to all your videos.
You can add Peppermint essential oil or tea tree essential oil or rosemary essential oil to your hair grease and massage it into your scalp, that will help any dormant follicles grow at its maximim rate which should be 1/2 to 1 inch a month!
Thank you so much for explaining the difference.
My absolute pleasure, thank you for watching!
I agree I use it as a moisturizing sealant
Your argument makes sence to me 👍🏾
I think it’s the grease growing the hair, it’s the grease keeping your hair from dehydrating that’s helping your hair grow. As long as it’s not applied to dry hair. I think if you have type 4 hair this is fine to use. It’s usually applied on the hair mostly.
It just seals and lubricates....duh
Exactly!
Obviously grease doesn’t make your hair grow. Your hair is always growing ! It’s a product that helps you retain your length by locking in moisture, just like other products.
It's a huge debate because some people know what worked for them. The label probably said, massage, but that doesn't mean that's how the bulk of people using grease applied it. I do understand what you're saying about all of the other factors that might contribute to the hair growth, but no one can tell me what I know. What I have experienced for myself. When you know, you know.😉
I don't know a single black person that sits there and massages grease in. Lmbo! They just apply and go!
Goodness gracious. Thank you!
What goes in, comes out. Much love and great content!
Love your videos 💗💗💗
Thanks so much, I appreciate you watching!
My hair type is similar to yours Linwood. My hair loves grease and water. I can't really use oils and hair lotions.
Happy New Year Linwood!!!!!
Happy new year to you as well!
I use oil not grease. But it helps my sebum slide down the hair shaft. My sebum is Hella thick and almost locks my roots. Oil good.
Hey GlamFam 👋🏽 😁
Forever educating us
Hey there!! I do my best! Thanks for watching fam!
It does for me tho
Hi, I am glad to see you. God bless
Thanks! Be blessed! Thanks for watching!
I don’t think it grows my hair, however, I notice when I use it , I don’t experience much breakage, especially when Inuse it to seal in a cream. I feel it’s morsel about length retention , and that’s why we think it grows❤
Hard pass man when your hair grow to the crack of your butt I'll stop using grease
Thank you!❤🎉
Thanks for that knowledge 😀
Bro you’re talking crap grease does help I’ve seen it with my own hair
" "Oh Taaaay... and dirt make yo her grow too! Why you wash yo zzzz?" "
I think they're confusing elbow grease with /orl/
Military reserve females bugged the shat out of me because I washed my hair...dirt does not make your hair grow. And the reason why people wash their is because it's gets dirty, it smells sour, it is sweaty( Remember that thing called PT well we all do it.), it itches, we work out, we move about, we want it clean, it feels good, and our mothers taught us to. You do you and we'll do us. Smooches...love to the family.
You're right!!!
I don't but grease on my scalp. I use it on the bottom half of my hair to seal in moisture. It helps my hair to retain length.
Thanks for the knowledge for real
Linwood, u are so smart‼🥰
I use grease as a sealant/ styler. I find that leave-in conditioners (even spray form) makes my hair dry as a Brillo pad, so I just use water and grease to style my hair. I never put it on my scalp because it has always made my scalp itch. It has helped tremendously with length retention as you said. However, my nutrition is on point so....
I'm not a huge fan of using a lot of grease on my hair. It weighs my hair down and you don't have the same shakeability.
This comment section doesn’t know the difference between growth and length retention. Your hair is always growing. Your hair length is determined by if you retain the hair follicle without it breaking, thinning, or splitting. If your hair is remaining the same length month to month, then the ends of your hair follicles are breaking off as the same rate as your hair growing.
Grease is also a great conditioner.
Exactly, it's like saying makeup gives you permanent flawless look when it only gives temporary masks.
I still use blue Magic
Facts you said it, a wrap😂💯
I love how at the end you take to finish what you need to say 🤣🤣
What expertise can you share about graying hair that take on yellow tones that turn purple-ish when using purple shampoo?
Bedcaps of satin or silk, Proper diet, supplement s, and keeping those ends moisturized, ends should not look like straw. Clips when those ends look raggedy. Do clips every 3 months if you want length, 8 weeks if you just want to maintain your current length. Silk or satin bedcaps a must if you struggle with maintaining growth . I got 4 inches-6inches consistently, just after implantation of Satin an Silk Bedcaps.
Thank you.
Thank you my fellow cosmetologist..finally somebody else with facts not myths
Me for the entire video: "What's your skincare routine?" 😭❤️
Exactly. No product grows hair! All products maintain hair
Thank you
My joy! Thanks for watching!
You are quite right. Most times after my hair wash i just apply some oil to manage it better. After that one application, no grease or nothing and my hair grows very long.
How do you keep your skin so flawless?... It is very beautiful🎉🎉🎉
We we ain’t mixed. We are Black, and it works on BLACK hair🙄
I repeat: it does not make hair grow any faster. Though it can aide in retaining length. Race is not the qualifying factor in the slightest. Additionally if your nutrition isn’t where it should be grease will not help at all.
