I have used (and really like) the Rapira SS - aside from giving a very nice shave, it lasted for more shaves than most (tossed it after six but could probably have pushed it another shave or two; I toss most after four shaves - and occasionally after even fewer). I have the Lux in my stack of blades to be tried; after watching this, I'll have to put one to the test very soon!

Stirling have very good performing soaps. Haven't tried Piacenza yet, so can't speak of the scent. Scent wise I think Razorock XXX come very close. Have a great weekend!

I have both those blades and have only tried the Platinum Lux and they are my favorite blades so far. Both sharp and smooth. Yeah the Astra greens are not for me despite how popular they are. I get a nice shave but get nicked every time. I have the Simpson T2 and love it. Nice brushes.

Neat shave hope this comment sticks this week without disappearing, I used a Gillette platinum today, the blue/grey pack it wasn’t very comfortable caught a few weepers . Maybe it was because it was a first use. IDK . Enjoyed the video today as usual

The Gillette Platinum is a blade that I always use with great caution as they seem to have given me the worst nicks and cuts ever. I'd rather use the Nacet or the 7 O'clock black. If you are interested in finding different soaps that are duplicates or homages to fragrances there is a great list on the 'thirstybadger' website that lists all kinds of soaps and what they are trying to duplicate. I think Italian Barber has 2 more other kinds of rapira blades if you like that brand. Also, there is a site called razorbladeclub where you can order just a few blades for a low price to try different ones. Cheers.

#1. sadly, I have no profound nuggets of knowledge to contribute to today's episode. I do: however, possess both blades and I find that while they work exactly the same in most of my razors; the Swedish version slightly edges out the Platinum Lux for total overall comfortable blade feel. In fact, in a couple of my razors the Lux feels like a 100 use, rusty razor belly shaver used on the Drunken Sailor(from the sea ditty, "What Can You Do With A Drunken Sailor"). Then when I switch the blade to a different razor and it's Night & Day difference. #2. Well, of course, you're "COOL". I mean just that name "Sig Solo" is like something from a John Le Carre spy novel. ;-) I have not tried that Loreal product but I have Duke Cannon after shave balm that makes a similar claim about it being so icy that it feels like someone has pushed your face into a bucket of snow,,,Absolute BS!.. Yes, it is cooling: there is a noticeable cooling sensation but nothing like the HYPERBOLE of the marketing copy printed on the label. Regrettably, it is hot, humid and I still have to finish some damned yard work before the next rain comes and makes it even thicker and more copious and irritating to deal with. It is a hell of a way to end a Sunday afternoon but then again the saying is: "No Rest for the Wicked" and I'm about as wicked(and weary) as they come. ;-) Bonjour....

And the SOLO is how French people pronounce my Last/Sur name in French... I have been trying to get my hands on both the Cremo Cooling After Shave Balm and the Duke Cannon Cool one. Noone seems to want to ship it to me here in Greenland... The L'oreál I used today was fine, but the cooling effect was absent!! Yard work!! Not my favorite pass time thing. Good thing gardens and yards are rare here in G-land. Also we have no trees. Imagine that!! I'm doing a 'Single Edge August' every Tuesday in August. It is going to be fun, I'm sure... The Rapira Platinum Lux is for me very mild, and i have a sensitiv skin. And the Rapira is to time my favorit blade.
I liked the blade.
