I'm not sure if this is the biggest event in it's history. Time spiral and the Urza saga were pretty huge from my understanding, though I wasn't playing back then, and I don't know enough mtg history to be sure. This is definitely one of the most ambitious sets/events in a long time (if not ever) though.

I run a dnd campaign that takes place in the MtG multiverse, which my players have never played or heard of. I’ve been building up Nicol Bolas for well over a couple months(my players are level 13) and they were HORRIFIED when they found out the Amonkhet and its people, who they made way more friends with than on any other plane, were just pawns for the Dragon who had killed 3 party members. I don’t know how they’re gonna take it when they learn that Samut, Neheb, Hapatra, and all of their other Amonkhet pals were killed not for the grand take over of Ravnica as they thought, but instead for nothing more than the SETUP to a trap.
That sounds really cool. What ended up happening?

I was listening to TTC and clicked over to this and got very confused when I kept hearing Graham's voice.
Graham is so recognizable too

And then Bolas planeswalk to the MCU to steal the Infinity Guantlet from Thanos. That's his master plan.
The infinity stones only work in the universe they are created in, soooooooo unless hes planning in staying there it does him no good.

I remember what happened last time someone tried to cast the Elder Spell, they ended up with the blackblade through their heart.
Well, 5€ Planar Brigh, 5€ Liliana Vess, 20€ Immortal Sun and some Eternals do sound pretty cheap for "The Ultimate Power" - might consider buying them to rule the wor... ahm to include them in my deck

I've been playing Magic for 14 years now, coming up on 15. I've rarely ever heard of any semblance of story in that time because it wasn't super available. These kinds of videos that wrap things up and connect a bunch of dots are extremely interesting and helpful to me. Please don't stop making them.

But tezzeret never went to ixalan. Vraska used the spell bolas taught her to contact tezzeret and he simply planar bridged it away.
Yeah, that misrepresentation of the situation is pretty weird, since what actually happened with Vraska is bound to be important in the WAR story.

Anyone else feels like this was a last second mimicry based on the success Infinity War saw?
Bolas wasn't mentioned anywhere in Liliana's initial story.
Jace was able to get into Bolas's mind temporarily to figure out the crew needed to head to Ravnica.
Those are only the issues I caught. So he has enough foresight to be the broker of a demonic deal and also lax enough to relax just when the stage was finally being set. Yet, he's some sort of mastermind that's existed for who knows how long.
This setup annoys me to no end.

It is cool to see his whole scheme laid out in such an informative video. For sure sharing this with my friends who do not pay close attention to the lore.
Then just before he gains ultimate power the true overlords or the multiverse show up having followed the same beacon as the planeswalkers. The Eldrazi titans have returned. Finally will everyone realize that the eldrazi aren’t monsters. The protect the order of the multiverse and only when they’re gone has this fallen into true chaos. All hail the colorless ones!
Whenever I think of this, I think of the pillar men theme playing in the background of the whole thing.

*Spoiler:* Everything ends with an epic battle inside Bolas's Citadel while Fblthp tries not to get his head blown off by a stray fireball in the middle of all that chaos. Bolas successfully casts the Elder Spell, but Gideon sacrifices himself to kill him before he absorbs everyone's sparks, and both plummet to their deaths. At that point, the sparks enter the nearest available living body: Fblthp, who becames omnipotent. With such a burden, and knowing that there will be others like Bolas, Fblthp decides to travel to the only place where he knows no one will be ever be able to reach him... back in time! Adopting a pseudonym to make sure that his destiny remains forever unknown, he puts an end to the planeswalkers saga and so a new story begins: the story of Arcanis the Omnipotent!
I like how this is the concern of the planeswalkers as Mirrodin is terrorized by Phyrexians, Progenitus is running around on Alara, Garruk is still beheading people, and Heliod literally killed Elspeth on Theros.
The Gatewatch is on a roll! They finally solved this problem!

I’m a newbie to Magic and I’ve only been playing since Kaledesh. I do think this newness gives me a fresh set of eyes and an unbiased perspective that isn’t tainted by nostalgia. Let me just say, I love this game and the lore is excellent-such a great story. However, I can’t help but feel that it’s unfortunate we have shoddy story tellers. With all of its history (and I would imagine money) you think wizards of the coast would put out better media content.
It's all fun and games until someone slaps down "In garruk' s wake" and just wipes everything out.

This is awesome. Though I was hoping that this would cover some of the earlier plans and schemes of Bolas from before the Gatewatch era. That would have been a helpful recap.
Imo best MTGA video so far! It was hard for me as a casual player to understand everything that happened and is happening in MTG / MTGA since the beginning. Thank you very much for making such great explanatory and beautiful video!

Distraction most likely. He knew it would tie up Ugin, one of the few walkers with the power to contest him.

I know there's a BIGGER lore reason for why and all.... but I just picture Nicol just suddenly getting up and going "You know I don't think I wanna be dead anymore." and flying off after that.
