These little origami puffy stars make great gifts, you can make lots of them and display them in jars or other containers.

I realise I am a bit late to the origami lucky star folding club. I only just discovered how fun making these little stars is! I folded some many years ago and found it fiddly and annoying.
I actually decided to make them last week when I was feeling a bit down and stressed... they are relaxing to make - satisfying and they distract your mind 🤓

I remember in 4th grade, my best friend would try to be "sneaky". he would walk over to my desk, and when he thought I wasn't looking, he would drop a lucky star on my desk. (this was in school) And he would be like "Oh hey! Umm I think someone dropped a star on your desk. I think it was that girl?" and I would just play along because it was so sweet. I still have those stars, even after he moved away. :) ❤👏

My momma was cleaning cat poop when i made my first paper star. When i showed it to her she smiled and said it was cute. When i tried to explain how difficult it was while holding it on one of its pinched corners i accidentally dropped it into the cat box. Now i am trying to make more

I once read a book in which a mom made all these stars with quotes and advices written in the paper stars and gave all the stars in a vase to her young daughter and her bf before she died so that whenever they have a problem, they could open it and still have her advice with them. I thought it was really sweet and wanted to make something like that for us too.

For the people saying it doesn't work and they can't pinch them.
1. Fold them tight and then once you get to the wrapping, do it loosely.
2. Sometimes, pinching from a certain direction will cause it to turn into a bowl, or if the knot is slightly off centered the pinch won't be perfect. Also, try not to press with your nails. Just pinch the edges a couple at once and you'll get the hang of it. Heck, if people still can't do it, I'm willing to make a video on it because it's super simple once you get the gist of it :)
3. Just practice. You'll get the hang of it after a while.

When I was a kid, my family used to visit a Chinese restaurant regularly. The young waitress, who was also the daughter of the family owning the restaurant, was always very kind to me. One day she showed me a big jar full of colourful stars and said she made this as a surprise for her fiancé. She then taught me how to make these stars myself (she used gift ribbon for it tho, not paper).
I've always remembered this. Sadly I forgot over the years how to make them, but now I started looking for a tutorial since I want to fill a jar for my partner, too. I'm glad I found this video!
I also will bring some stars to the waitress, since the restaurant still exists and she might be still working there.

My friend taught me how to make these and she and I would sit together in science and make these all class. I miss doing that cause now we’re stuck in quarantine ;-;

If you're having trouble in the last step (puffing up) here's how I managed to make it with relative ease:
I tried to make the star using different measures and paper shapes and after much attempting I can tell you that to do the last step more easily you'll have to use a thicker paper than common sheet and if you choose an A4 size, the best width is 1.5 cm because in the end there cannot be any open sides otherwise your star will bend instead of puffing up (the height I used was the actual side of the paper vertically). If you don't have any thick paper that's no problem, but remember to try it using the width and height mentioned if your sheet is A4.
Keep in mind that origami is something that should be done when you're calm and relaxed. It is an art that requires some time and carefulness. Don't get frustrated if you fail: it is a part of everything not only in origami but in life.

I found a feel-good comic posted on a social media site I use, in which a girl made these lucky stars whenever she felt sad or lonely, and when she made 1000 her deepest wish was granted. I used to write things that made me happy and then turned them into stars, then i used to put them in a jar.
Another idea.. you can make a mood tracker with this, note down colors with a mood (for example blue=sad, yellow=happy etc) and after making the star write the number of the day (for example yellow=happy on 17 september)

not to sound weird but your hands are so calming to watch? in most yt tutorials they sped up and the hands are almost fidgeting. yours is much slower and calmer, which helps when you're learning a new craft

Ok so I've been trying this for the past hour or so. It goes well until I get to using my thumb to push in the middles of the sides to make the points. I realized what I was doing wrong though, so have a tip.
TIP: Don't put your fingers in the center of the star while creasing, or you'll end up with a squished star. Put your fingers on the edges or points like this person does. It's difficult to get the hang of because you feel like the star is going to pop out of your hand (one of mine did. It hit me in the face) but with a little practice, you'll get the technique down. c:

These are really popular in Korea! They say if you make or give someone 1000 paper stars/cranes, your/their wish or love will come true! It's mostly used between couples but I think it's a cute gift between friends as well!
I remember Origami Lucky Stars was so popular in our school and everywhere I go I always see those things on the floor, the desks, the indoor plants, everywhere! I remember seeing some students that didn't know how to make Origami Lucky Stars start buying those things at other students that knows how to make those origamis. That happen in 2017 when I was at middle school. I miss those times 🥲
