My opinion on the way they decided to write Floriana's character Maggie off is that it leaves a gaping hole. Like, Floriana herself always mentions how she'd love to return to the show, or that it's a great possibilty that it will happen. The producers when they were on the Comic Con panel said they'd always welcome her back. So Sanvers breaking up because of kids is probably the best way if you want Sanvers to come back together. I'm a huge Sanvers fan myself, and I have a good feeling that she'll come back. Her last line on the show was "your gunna be a great mom" Like months or years from now she could come back saying she changed her mind.It's that simple. If the CW chose to have her cheat, it'd be a lot tougher to get a good plot going to get Sanvers back together. After all, Sanvers said they want a lifetime of firsts together. That can mean a lot. I believe they wrote her off this way because they know that'll she'll be coming back. Even after the crossover episodes, they left a bunch of little clues that could mean so much. Alex still loves her and all, has her on speed dial. Anything can happen, Sanvers will hopefully get back together sometime in the 4th of 5th season, if that happens. Don't give up on hope!!
i dont think they will get back together unless they intend on their relationship being like a ross x rachel thing where they get back together and break up over and over again. if she gets back with maggie even after getting over her, it wouldnt be good for character development

Maggie is supposed to be in her early to mid thirties here, isn't she? The actress is currently somewhere around 36-38, I think. I think she'd know by now if she wanted kids or not. She's older than my mother was when she realized she wanted kids by about a decade, and not everyone who doesn't want kids when they're younger changes their mind when they get a little older like my mom did. I'd be shocked if I ever changed mine. It's sad the ship broke up, but this is actually a really realistic way to do it where no one is the bad guy. Also, telling someone they're going to be a great mom doesn't mean you're going to change you mind about having kids yourself. I've told a friend of mine who wants kids that she'll be a great mom, but that doesn't mean I am ever going to change my mind and want children of my own.

Why does the CW always ruin their best relationships just for shock value. This was one of the best ships; not just on Supergirl, but the entire Arrowverse. This was beyond sad for me to watch.

I actually kind of like that the producers did not have Maggie come back to create some weird situation between her and Alex after Alex started dating Kelly in the later seasons. They ended Sanvers on the best terms they could, then moved on.
This scene really broke my heart. I wish they would've stayed together and worked it out but there was a part of Alex who wasn't happy in the relationship because she desperately wants kids and Maggie doesn't picture having kids. It's so sad. 😭
