  • All the LEGO® Trains in my collection!
    This covers all the LEGO trains in my collection, all 19 of them, plus wagons and carriages! Some of the trains have been modified and I have built some MOC carriages and Wagons, some of these are to fit the Power Functions Equipment to power the trains.
    Please keep all comments family friendly, thanks!
    Welcome to channel DunksterBricks. Here you can find videos of lots of things made out of LEGO or related to LEGO. There are videos of Train sets and City sets as well as videos that are tutorials, hauls, and time-lapse. Every so often there is a big railway build which gets bigger everytime it's made!

    I love these videos, trains cruising around, the 4DBrix, switches, lights & sensors. Duncan, I have 1 question: Do you have 4DBrix switch motors? If so, can you tell me if you put a motor on the double crossover with an inside throw, can the train pass?

    • @DunksterBricks
      @DunksterBricks  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +King Louie Bricks good question, I’m putting all my motors on the outside of my crossovers at the moment. It would be a really tight fit to have them on the inside. I only have two motors at present but have another four on order along with a controller. When I get the extra motors I’ll make sure I include seeing if they fit on the inside in a video.

      Dooglis McBricken, I recommend getting a ton of switch track packs (they're usually on sale at amazon for $12-$13 ish) and creating a railyard. Still a pain to get a hold of the straight track, though.

    • @Giraffiti
      @Giraffiti 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But if you want to go cheap, Walmart has these bins for $20 which are flat but wide and long that fit LEGO trains perfectly. Get some foam padding and bubble wrap to separate the trains and yeah.

    • @DunksterBricks
      @DunksterBricks  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      EM's suggestions are good. I use plastic containers from Ikea and put all my trains and carriages in those, it's not perfect as some things need a bit of rebuilding afterwards. I find it's the most economical for space usage, I can put the containers in a cupboard or under a table until I need them for a video.

    • @DunksterBricks
      @DunksterBricks  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      also for temporary storage I use the table tops under the main layout. Once Dunkton gets built up I should have more room ins the storage part as a lot of LEGO will be getting used in the town.

    I have the original holiday train, and I was thinking the new one would go well with it. Should I get it?

    • @DunksterBricks
      @DunksterBricks  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I've seen of the original is that it's a much better set than this new one. I imagine they would go well together. If you have a limited budget it may be worth going for the Winter Holiday Train Station as that's a really nice set. The new Winter Holiday Train may get retired soon so that's worth taking into consideration.

    Dunkster! Are you going to buy the Taj Mahal for your city? Tho, this is scary, 2007 Millennium Falcon, then 2008 Taj Mahal, but what's 2009? EMERALD NIGHT. If this does rerelease, I'm buying atleast 2.

    • @DunksterBricks
      @DunksterBricks  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would certainly get a re-released Emerald Night if they did that, I wouldn't ave anywhere to display big sets like the MF or Taj Mahal and the only thing they could do in a video is be decoration, and that's some expensive decoration.

  • @carriageofnoreturn.1881
    @carriageofnoreturn.1881 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Duncan, that must have taken ages to film - swapping entire trains over is not a quick job, especially with all those wheels to get properly aligned to avoid derailments! It struck me that, as you have some duplicate trains which are identical except one has the single motor provided and the other has an extra motor that you've fitted, that it might be interesting to see whether the double motor can pull double the length of train, or whether it's not that simple. It's easy for me to suggest that, of course, because it's not my motors that might get burnt out in the valiant test ;-)
    John

    • @DunksterBricks
      @DunksterBricks  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was difficult filming due to space issues, it ended up taking two nights and a morning to shoot and that was after setup. Maybe a hill climbing comparison with some wagons involved would be a good. That could be one for the future.

    • @tomooo2637
      @tomooo2637 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have found that adding a second motor seams to more than double the pulling power of a train from my experience - I double motor most of my trains. I wonder if it is because the normally dummy second bogie of a Lego train has a lot of friction due to the technic pins used for the axles, whereas the rolling stock uses the free running steel pins for axles. This would suggest that the performance up hill will would not be more than doubled.

    • @tomooo2637
      @tomooo2637 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also dry lubricate my axles with dry silicon - but beware - don't get any on the wheels or rails. From experience a lego train cannot even move itself against the friction of the trailing bogie when you get this stuff on the track.

    Are you going to get the 2006 passenger train?

    • @Giraffiti
      @Giraffiti 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amy Morgan, the 2006 passenger train is a pain to convert to PF. The roof is way too low to fit the standard PF battery box and the main engine for some reason uses a 30 stud trainplate, which doesn't exist without the 2006 RC electronics. Though, I could definitely do it with the right money.

    • @DunksterBricks
      @DunksterBricks  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Endothermic Madness has summed it up quite nicely. The train isn't as adaptable as the newer PF ones and I wouldn't be able to use it much in some of the bigger track setups.

    • @Giraffiti
      @Giraffiti 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      DunksterBricks, in fact, it's longer than the Maersk Train, Maersk train is a 28 stud plate with 2 long plates on both sides, totalling to 32. The 2006 ICE 1 is a 30 stud plate with a 6 stud overhang from the nose cone. 36 studs! I've tried to PF the train in LDD but the roof is just way too close to work. I mean, you make a segment that's like the 60051 roof to accommodate the battery box but it looks out of place. To get a good perspective, it uses the 7938 roof piece in white but 1 brick down on the 7938 train.

    • @icemorons5678
      @icemorons5678 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Endothermic Madness, since you seem to have experience with the conversions, is it possible to use the baseplate/integrated AA battery box from the RC trains in combination with the PF IR Receiver and PF motor? I've always liked the look of the Crocodile 7898, and the robustness of AA batteries compared to AAA. So I've been curious about possibilities of integrating the two. Alas, I lack the 7898 (or 7897) at this time to attempt it myself.

    • @Giraffiti
      @Giraffiti 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      icemorons, I recommend checking the voltage output of the Battery box on the Train bases (cause last thing you want is overvolting $25 of Powerfunctions). In theory, it would work to use the existing battery box, connect the IR receiver with a PF extension cord (one side has a 9V connector) and then the Motor to the Receiver. Could definitely work since the issue of the 2006 trains is they're faulty motors. Though, one thing to consider is that the Battery box doubles as the receiver but the IR receiver should block out any type of transmitting. Make sure to take the out the batteries out of the 2006 train remote to prevent any attempted electronic signaling from occurring.

      True, some of the track used in my layout in this room are 3D printed by two companies, 4DBrix and TrixBrix. LEGO only have a limited track selection.
