12:04 i cannot begin to tell you how much i needed a cover for "he's the light in my darkness" One of the tracks more on the underrated side of the soundtrack in ultrakill and one of my favorites in act2
12:00 the “deceptive ending” is actually a transition into the next song in the ost. It goes from “He is the light in my darkness” to “Death Oddysee”. I really love it when Hakita makes all the soundtracks of a single layer transition into the next one kind of reflecting how you almost seamlessly transition into the next level in game
Diwa, one song from Ultrakill that I think you would like a lot is Deep Blue. Its a combination of mysterious piano, breakcore, and smooth jazz and it's one of if not my favorite song from Ultrakill. Also a refreshing change of pace from the rest of the OST as it doesnt rely on heavy metal sounds. It's very different from a lot of other songs from the OST. Loving the videos. Keep it up Lionmight!
The ULTRAKILL soundtrack is fire! 🔥🔥🔥 Also one OST I personally would love to see you check out would be the “Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze” OST. With most of the tracks mainly composed by David Wise.
Ultrakill is just one of those games that even IF you aren't playing it, the music gets you In a really good mood! As do your videos! keep up the good work!
are you listening to the soundtrack in order? because the "trolling" at the end of each song is supposed to be the transition between each of the songs when played in spotify.
YEAHH, Sands of Tide reviewed! Fun fact about that one: Hakita (creator of ULTRAKILL and music) has mentioned that it's one of the songs to introduce people into music made by Hakita, as it has a very well balanced and varied harmony and melodies.
I love the hair styles you have in your videos they’re always so cool to see, I also really admire and appreciate your creativity, knowledge, skill, and overall appreciation for music. I wish I discovered your channel earlier, if this has not already been said before you are a genius and great composer. I love how your analysis of music is always very detailed and comprehensive while also being very clear, informative and interesting at the same time. I think that the commentary you add is also quite effective and engaging as well. And I might add that your community is also always very supportive and friendly towards others as well. Which I personally think is a great indicator that you are very passionate about your work and are friendly towards others who watch your content. I hope you continue to do what you love and continue to do well in the future! 👍
Btw the reason why songs will begin to change at the end is because they’re transitioning into the next. they are direct rips from video soundtrack videos and not the soundtrack so that also explains why sometimes songs will get calmer, it’s because they’re edited and not game rips
the soundtrack that continues to impress! this is the reason I watch these videos cause while I can hear things in the song I like I wouldn't have been able to go into such detail like the middle eastern references of the first song or the classical influences of the last song with a more modern twist, it is so nice to be able to know with more detail these things so I can further appreciate them!
rundown of whats happening in he is the light in my darkness (SPOILER WARNING): 7:44 song starts, along with the level. until u place the blue skullkey, the bgm is just rain ambience setting: the ocean styx (in the ultrakill universe, mankind is dead and their souls have turned the river styx into a full ocean, among other stuff thats irrelevant). ur standing on some planks poking out of the ocean, somewhat resembling a dockyard. u picked up a blue skullkey earlier in the level and just found the pedestal to put it on 7:54 u place the key on its pedestal, summoning the ferry 7:56 the "ferry" (literally the fucking titanic) surfaces from the ocean 8:02 the ferry has fully emerged from the surface. the melancholic violin plays until the bossfight on the ferry, u find the ferryman and the level exit. u notice an idol (a small demonic statue that buffs an enemy by making them immune to damage until broken) on the deck of the ship. naturally, u put 2 and 2 together and figure that u have to kill the ferryman. in order to do so, u break the idol. the ferryman leaps on deck and the song cuts to 9:35 (1:20 in the ost vid) 10:37 phase 2 starts. another idol shows up and the ferryman leaps towards it. the calm bit loops while u make ur way up and avoid getting smited by the ferryman whos calling the wrath of zeus on u 10:55 u got up there and broke the new idol, starting phase 2 properly. the ending riff plays (without coming back) once u kill the ferryman
Glad you drew that parallel between Sands Of Tide and a sandstorm happening as well! More often than not when I myself listen to music (especially ULTRAKILL's OSTs) I like to just imagine all sorts of scenarios. For instance, when I listen Dune Eternal (the track for the level before the one that uses Sands Of Tide) I imagine a fight slowly breaking out in some desolate town or city out near the desert. Something along those lines. And the fight starts fairly calm and calculated. Then Sands Of Tide kicks in and a huge sandstorm rolls in, blinding and disorienting everyone. And, no pun intended, all hell breaks loose.
I really recommend the song "Suffering Leaves Suffering Leaves". I don't want to say much on it on the off-chance that you do read this and decide to react to it (which is unlikely), but it's honestly just so simple yet beautiful and a nice contrast to the rest of the Ultrakill soundtrack. Love your videos.
I can’t count how many times this has been asked and yet people don’t realize that we’re still getting Ultrakill reactions leading up to that. I’m sure those videos will be great though when they come along!
You should listen to the soundtrack of donkey kong country tropical freeze, its really good with how each piece in it has it's own unique feel to it to also match the game in how alien each world feels for the series.
You should collaborate with Hakita when he starts working on the third Prime Sanctum, which will probably be like next year or something but He already did a collab with Keygen Church, so i think it’d be cool

Hello, Mr. String Player Gamer. I really enjoy your content. Especially reactions to the Calamity Mod Soundtrack. I wanted to say that DM Dokuro was not the only composer of this mod. If Hakita , the creator of ultrakill asked you to do a song for them would you do it ? Also the "he is the light that shines in my darkness" is a Bible reference where it is said "he is the light that shines in the darkness" referencing to God being the Light and the hope , and that is pretty well chosen since the boss that is supposed to be here is the ferryman who is a husk (sinner in hell) who became upranked by Gabriel (one of the angels in ultrakill) because they were becoming holy and had things covering him that were white given by the angels , those emit bright light which goes well with the title . It is not dramatic but really good since they still have hope , also it sounds a bit oceanic during the first 1 minute because he's quite literally called a ferryman and is the leader of a boat
You should check out the Ready Or Not OST or so cause there music sometimes brings the creeps and chills to the players who play the game including me.
