Why does it keep happening to me that the thread I use Extreme Standard 8/0 6/0 when tying the music constantly breaks, some say it's up to the bomb, others say it's up to the end, can you help me with that?

funny how more times then i can remember especially during during baetis hatches when mostly there size 18 - 20 and even smaller is when trout get get very very picky and most guys including myself would always go smaller or go to 7x tippet and still get refusals other than a few fish you just know there seeing sumthing that they dont lke as fish are boiling everywhere and your scratching your head,,,ive learned years ago go big..thats the best time to throw em a good size chunky beetle..your not gonna hook every fish thats rising of course but just bout everytime you will stick a few and usually the bigger fish too.. i try to target a big fish and get into position and 9 outta 10 times the first good drift of a beetle over him he will take it..my fav used to be an ant but the beetle is better..black or brown and even better when its makes a splash hitting the water...amazing how they are so familiar with that and i always said jokingly that if most insects trout feed on taste like chicken than a ant or a beetle must taste like a perfectly cooked fillet mignon as many many times ive seen them refuse what there feeding on and swim 5-6 feet to grab your beetle or ant soon as they see it..who the hell could not love flyfishing????? i often wonder and glad its not me..

Hi man, thanks for this advice! I think I too often fall into the trap of tying on smaller and smaller flies with ridiculously fine tippet, when I should be offering a big fat beetle like this! I'll try it out and see. That's one of the many beautiful things about fly fishing: always something new to try, or hearing other folk's stories and perspectives 👍☺️
