There are many reasons why the cost of Chinese products is significantly lower compared to US products (including software products).
1. The salary level of a developer in the US is more than 20 times that of a developer in China.
2. People in China work without considering the time or date. Is that even possible in the US?
3. Overhead costs in the US are far higher than one can imagine.
4. Developers in China are all Chinese. Can you find any native US developers at OpenAI? When you work for your own purpose, you put in more effort. But when you work for someone else, your effort may not be comparable.
And so on. There are many more reasons we could list.
When the US says something, we all believe it. But when China says something, we tend to have doubts! What kind of mindset is this?
I am not a big fan of China. But at the same time, one cannot discredit their achievements.

But let's be transparent here. Deepseek is not a pioneer in the Ai world compared to other companies whom initiated the creation of AI development. Hence, it's quite easy to build up on something that has already been created/developed than starting from scratch. Deepseek is only using knowledge from OpenAi and Google amongst others to develop something unique and cheaper. Plus the Chinese are very notorious in stealing information. Ask the US government, they will tell you about it. This is not my opinion, this is documented facts.
