@GreatBooksProf Pretty sure it was Jowett, but I also have the Grube translation in the collected works. My first introduction to Plato was Walter Pater's book Plato and Platonism - back in the early 90s. In it, there's a chapter called The Genius of Plato, in which Pater provides his own translation (I think) of 571d5 (bk 9). I committed that long convoluted passage to memory and used it as a meditation before sleep. Since then, I've discovered Synesius of Cyrene's work, On Dreams. I believe these are linked to the iatromantic incubation practices.

However, I think it would be great to incorporate thinkers and philosophers from other parts of the world such Persia, the Arab world, China etc. I believe they have great perspectives to offer as well, especially Arab and Persian ones since they built a lot on the works of Greek philosophers. I want to approach it carefully though. I need to do a fair bit of reading in advance, because I'm not an expert in those cultures or those histories. I definitely don't want to present myself as an authority on traditions I know comparatively little about. That doesn't mean I can't make those videos, I just want to educate myself properly first!

Robin Waterfield's translation of Plato's Republic transformed me. I'd read it before, but it finally clicked in a number of ways.
