You have to raise your room rank to unlock crafters gauntlet. When you reach Rank 2, the game will give you materials to craft furniture so that you can reach rank 3 (which unlocks crafters gauntlet).

There is a trash can icon on the left hand side. After selecting that drag your finger around the screen to pick up all the trash. Once you pick up the trash you will get rewards
