Gunhild is awesome. However it should be known this is a cover of a Rufus Harley song, the likely first jazz bagpiper ever. If you like this, I suggest listening to the original.

It's because the drones don't play a chord that works with jazz/blues. She's only play with one drone so it's not the same as most bagpipes played for traditional Scottish music.
That's not really fair. Some are oriented to being able to pick up anything and play it, and most aren't oriented to play anything. That's what makes it so special. But I've got another one for you about truth that an old work colleague gave me after he turned me on to Habanero peppers and the Scovall scale for hotness. This came from his son actually: "Never trust anyone who doesn't like hot (spicy) food." LOL
I was playing in a band and at the prime of my capabilities on several instruments. WOW! over & over & over again she SURPIZES/BLOWS ME AWAY! just love love love her! i am a huge jazz fan & have enjoyed bagpipes.. but i have never heard bagpipes like that before!!! WOW!!!
I don't know why I started seeing so many Gunhild Carling videos pop up on my feed, except I'm sure FB knows that I am a musician. Every video I see impresses me - multi-instrumentalist talent, great entertainer!

Holy Moly! I didn’t know bagpipes and the lungs that give them mouth to tube were capable of this incandescent performance! Whoop Dee Doodle and OUCH!!!!
She's a talented and amazing musician, she plays multiple instruments, don't know exactly how many but, any brass and apparently woodwind instruments also
If I'm not mistaken, this instrument is called säckpipa, or Swedish bagpipes. Gunhild Carling is a talented Swedish musician playing various genres, with a multitude of instruments.
You and your band are fabulous! I feel so lucky to have discovered you! Please come back to the USA and here to the San Francisco Bay area - we are waiting to adore you !!!
Sounds like a big band clarinet! My dad was a big band fan and a classic Black Watch piper fan who served in WWII. I believe that he would get a kick out of this if he were alive today.
I'm more impressed with the tensile strength of her dress holding up to the expressive moves from this magnificent woman
Never was my gob more smacked, nor my flabber more ghasted. Wonderful.
This has to be one of the best comments I've ever read on TH-cam!

She made a bagpipe sound like a harmonica! That's incredible!
You know it's special when the musicians dig it.
I've known of Gunhild for all of 5 minutes and she might just be my favourite musician. This is amazing! Love it!

Watch her cover of "Happy"😳
# Me Too !
As a piper myself I was very impressed with those little runs she was doing, and the way she bent those last couple of notes was very sweet.
Leaving the rock I've been living under, I just discovered Gunhild. Wow. This woman is something else. Incredible performer, entertainer, artist.
Leaving rock for blues, got it!
I still have not counted all the instruments she plays! Her video playing three trumpets at the same time is unbeleavable!
Yes, @TheEkkas, Yes! Never in my most credulous dream could I conjure up such incredulity!
Bless her, she managed to wake the band up, but she had to work really hard for it! Gunhild is a World Treasure, and desrves the best.
30s and 40s jazz.. she's got it. And music? YES. Not just anyone can make the bagpipes sound good. My God what a musician.
They told her - “You can’t play jazz with a bagpipe.”
She answered - “Hold my Scotch!”
Fabulous Gunhild, absolutely fabulous.
Because when it comes to music nobody challenges Gunhild and tell her she can't do something; if you do you already failed :)
@@iceberg220 I am an instant fan of her She is delightful
I am astounded by this She is wonderful
she does look and move like she had some drams before going on stage

I never saw anything like it in my life,, swing bag pipes,,,,,, Frank Zappa would have signed her up for a live album.,,incredible lady
You know; I think you may be right.
He probably would have put her on the cover. I can see a remake of "Peaches En Regalia".
Truest thing I've ever read.
I can well imagine her on 'America Drinks & Goes Home! :^)

Normally something like this shouldn't work so well but she nails it. Almost sounds Harmonica-esque.
Man what a stage presence! Amazing musician but really entertaining to watch too. And the drummer really is enjoying himself
The best bagpipe solo I've ever heard.
I love her dancing . In the fashion of jazz and pure expressionism .
No disrespect to her but I thought she was drunk😂
Both possibly & I'm here for it!

I think it's safe to say no one plays the blues on bagpipes like Gunhild!!! Unbelievable!!! So talented.
Did you see the sax player in the middle.

Dragged jazz kicking, screaming and wailing into the 21st century and beyond. There's no end to this woman's fabulous talents
Wow, blues bagpipe. Those are two words I never thought I’d hear together. Awesome!
As a Scot I've always loved the pipes and this is no different - it's great !. I just wonder why more haven't tried to use the pipes in this way !
Nobody hears the pipes and thinks of this. I like it, it sounds sort of like a fiddle
It's because the drones don't play a chord that works with jazz/blues. She's only play with one drone so it's not the same as most bagpipes played for traditional Scottish music.

I didn’t know this was even possible! It never even crossed my mind to even think about it.
Nothing in my experience has prepared me for this - and I *love* the pipes!
Amen to that !! :-)
I thought this was going to be a novelty, but this is LEGIT fantastic!
I use to hate the sound of bagpipes but playing them like this just amazing what a talented lady
The woman is amazing. Superb and talented entertainer. Would love to see her in a live concert.
This is the best Blues solo I've ever heard on Bagpipes.
