    I'd love it to live in a fire lookout! We lived one winter in an 18x26ft. Log cabin in Alaska, our daughter was a newborn at the time. We actually had a hanging bed that gave us extra foot room and a " honey bucket" on our porch that we'd take to the outhouse to dump. Our power was propane and we burned wood for heat, we had a hot springs to haul water from with our snow machine. One of my favorite memories was of going outside in 40 below zero weather to stuff filling in the cracks of the cabin where slivers of light showed through.. The Aurora Borealis was out in full color and was truly spectacular!!! The memories of that year are really precious to us!!!! Cheryl

      When does the book come out ??
      I lived in cold Sudbury for 22 years and spent winters at a Cabin fishing pickerel and playing nickle poker in 1972.
      No hydro,no well just a lake,no sauna,outhouse....Styrofoam seat is instant heating for the bottom ??....row boat,car radio Sudbury station.
      WERE WERE YOU LOCATED ?

  • @RETIREMESOON
    @RETIREMESOON 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I stumbled on this video ....well really I was subbed so fate brought it.....LOL
    The video is a piece of art and the philosophy near the end was life changing for me.
    My wife and I have been camping and travel explorer's since 1965 and all our experience brings us to our final 15 year trip onto Vancouver Island and all of British Columbia.
    I struggled with the Toyota tundra regular cab that I was ready to buy in 2019 when we were leaving but production stopped and I can only get a 2016 base with no 4x4.
    The video helped me realize were to get the money from in our silver stash and it told me that I know how to get unstuck and even avoid some of that.
    THANK YOU .....and we will be getting rid of all our art and collections of 35 years.

    I didn’t think I’d look at the whole thing. I didn’t think I’d be interested enough in a lookout to look at the whole minutes, but I did.
    I loved how much of their life philosophy you had in there to complement the visuals. Great job. I’d love to see more stuff from more youthful mature folks in this vein. Happy travels.

    This has got to be THE most beautiful house I've ever seen. ..I have the land and I am building a cabin but I really don't see my nephew (who's doing much of the hard stuff) putting it on a platform for me...also we regularly get 125mph winds (from Russia, with love lol!) tearing down hundreds of trees every winter so even if I did manage to get it on stilts I don't fancy my chances of staying there long after seeing how far the wind took the roof of our sawmill shed last Christmas! I just hope it never hit anyone or anything living on it's way!

    In South Western Oregon There's an old fire Look out still standing in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, the "Quail Prairie Lookout". It's located some 30 miles up the North Bank of the Chetco River in Brookings Oregon. The lookout is pretty rundown, but years ago the forest service use to rent it out for people to stay in. It would be nice to see it and similar places in Oregon either enter private hands and be restored or for the Forest Service to restore it for public use at a nominal nightly/daily fee.
