A lot of useful info in the video, with pressure switch causing the ice up , the Freon trying to stay in the evap coil is why the site glass look low charged, we know Freon likes to as cool as possible
How does the frozen evaporator affect the liquid level on the sight glass? I would think the sight glass would be full because the lack of airflow in the evaporator causing less boiling of the liquid refrigerant.
Thats what i was thinking, only thing i can think of is due to the frozen coil the compression ratio is much higher and causing less movement of actual refrigerant making it “look less full.”
Anytime your coil is frozen, your sight glass won’t be full. Once you defrost the coil, you will see the sight glass will fill if the charge is good. I made this mistake early on in my career. Went to an O/t call and saw the coil was frozen and started to leak test as I didn’t want to defrost the coil because it was late at night. Couldn’t find a leak. Then I defrosted the coil and found the sight glass was and I wasted over an hour chasing a leak that didn’t exist.
🇺🇸👍💪❄ with the compressor off n when the box temp reaches 40 degrees then u want ur cut in. 40 degrees for r22 is 69psi. Ur cut in at 55psi is 30 sat. ? I would take highest box temp ex 40 degrees = 69psi cut in. Then take lowest box temp 35 degrees - td of 20 = 15 degree sat = 38 psi cut out. With compressor off wouldn't the coil temp b close to ambient/box temp 40 degrees ? N set ur cut in that way. Refrigerant temp is design temp when compressor is on
Yes that works, however if the Condensor is plugged the pressure will be higher. Also in the video I had 35F with 42psi and prior to that I had 40 psi for the same 35F box temp. That’s why I don’t use a pressure switch and always use a thermostat.
@@REFRIGERATIONKITCHENEQTECH its icing up because you have the cut in at 30 deg 55 psi,set it to 38 out and 69 in.pressure is temp, they work the same but it will not go in a vacuum.
I didn’t set the switch, it’s been like that for years. The point I’m trying to make to my techs is use a thermostat to control temperature. If the Condensor coil gets dirty, the pressures will change slightly and affect the accuracy of your cut in and cut out temps.

Good info in this comment ⬆️
My friend you have the best real life stuff around. Troubleshooting and repairs. Thank you!!
Thanks
@@REFRIGERATIONKITCHENEQTECH my thanks to you!
Another excellent video. Thanks so much for posting!
Another great vid and looking for to the 2nd part if it gets approved. Also that cabinet was nasty.
Yes, I gave it a good a clean out for the next tech.
Great video! Keep up the good work 💪
👍
Yes, never check pressures with an iced up coil

Never trust the numbers on the pressure control always go through your gauges
Absolutely.

I agree I just like lpc for safety purposes. Tkachuk to Florida

@@REFRIGERATIONKITCHENEQTECH adding a thermostat would be removing the defrost.it uses the pressure switch to defrost.
That place is nasty
Lol, kitchen was actually very clean, unfortunately the previous service company didn’t clean up inside the unit
