In California some people stumbled upon a 100YO steam powered sawmill and moved it lock stock & barrel to a country fairgrounds where they fire it up and do a demo during each year during the fair. Way cool. !
Back in the day when a man could own a business and make some money before corporate greed killed the industry. I got a few hours in an old saw mill like that. Can small the fresh cut wood now. The good ole days 🤘🏼
Engine is most likely a 6/71 or a 6/53 That's plenty of horsepower to make this mill run I'd love to have all of it to restore to it's original splendor ❤
The cart on the rails that has the brackets with the inch markings holds the logs and shuttles them through the saw blade. It goes back and forth and moves the log around and sets the cut depth. the second cutter cuts the slabs to width, the third cross saw sizes the boards into the desired length. The last machine in the smaller shed by the truck planes the finished lumber to the proper size. The 2 small auger shoots under the saw blades remove saw dust and pile them outside of the saw mill. That is a nice setup.
Theres a lot of abandoned saw mills all across the west. Once the gov started making the lumber co stop polluting streams with their waste and replant their clearcuts and all it cut into their profits so much they shut down and moved to foreign countries where they could still get away with such practices. Siberia, Brazil. !
Thanks for showing the old sawmill. I bet it wont take much to get it running again.
Looks to be pretty complete. Mill, board edger, and a slab saw., just waiting for the right person to start it up.
That’s a great point. I’m sure the set up could run again.
Nice piece of property. If i was the grandson i would operate that place get it going.
It would be awesome to see that thing running again!
That is about as good of an example of a surviving logging operation anyone could find.

That's a great idea for a fair!
WOWEE, OPENING SHOT OF A G-508 GMC CCKW WITH BANTAM CRANE. A very rare and significant piece of W.W. 2 history. I hope that it doesn't get scrapped...

That's a 671 blower on a 238 hp 6x71 cubic inch engine.
That is awesome. Thanks for the info!

That would be a dream project!
@Earth_Care_Cowboy exactly I'm glad you shared this with us I enjoyed it
I doubt that it would take much to get that up and running again. Appears to be complete and under cover.
@@jerryrolen9639 I think your probably right
That's a four sided woodplaner in that little shed.wish I could get it.i really need one bad.
WOW! Take it all into city and set it up as a working museum and make money for ever!
671 gm diesel 250hp super charged. The other 2 are edgers. It's probably old Foley belsaw. Pug nosed c60 (coe). Dust an shavings collector.
sad to see all of that equipment just left to rot.
I agree

Cool thanks for your info.
Is the family going to get it going again, or maybe is it something she'd be interesting in getting rid of?
I doubt it will be made operational again.
It's not abandoned the buzzsaw is still shinny and that old truck probably still runs
Thanks for watching
That is a 671

Interesting
Nowadays for $8,000 you can buy a portable sawmill that can do twice as much as what we're looking at.
You’re probably right. I know this was put together back in the 1960s.
@@Earth_Care_Cowboy It's still nice though,still a piece of history.
