A number of comments saying this movie was inspired by 2003 Hindi movie Baghban. Frankly speaking I have watched several South Indian movies made in the 80s and 90s with similar storyline as Baghban because it’s a common problem in Indian families- once kids grow up and have their own families, they consider parents as burden unless they are still working or being useful at home by taking care of their kids.
