Even though I don’t agree with his views on the election, he is one of the most honourable politicians in this land. He played a critical role in Jonathan conceding defect in 2015. He needs to build a team wider political network across the country to prepare him for higher responsibility at the national level.

@@okeoyediran1210 ,U have a point but Osita will be given the same treatment as Peter. Ethnicity, religion and hatred towards anything Igbo is deep rooted. However, U have not told anyone what aspect of his viewsof his you disagree with.

    • @okeoyediran1210

@@chinomsookike1761 I understand your sentiment, but things will not remain like that for long. Awolowo or Abiola or Buhari experienced worst that Obi. If Obi had gotten pdp ticket , the outcome could have been different. The politics of becoming Nigeria president is a complicated one and tough one. Even , BAT almost lost the Apc ticket if the northern apc governors have not stood by him. And that is a progress considering what happen in 1979, 1983 and 1993 ,so one day political forces from other regions will stand by an Igbo man to lead this nation. On not agreeing with his view, I belong to APC and I started following Tinubu politics from 2003 , long before Obi came into the picture.

@@okeoyediran1210 your response is very reasonable but i doubt the igbos will be allowed to produce a president. But the main issue shouldn’t be tribe but who can actually lead of to be a progressive nation

    • @okeoyediran1210
      @okeoyediran1210 ปีที่แล้ว

@@joechucks1555 It will happen and it must happen for the stability of the Country. You need to see the political enmity between Yoruba and the north in the time of Awolowo and Abiola but the same north now supported a Yoruba man when their son is on the ballot. So anybody that says Igbo should not lead this nation does not love the country. I strongly believe is not that some people sat somewhere and said Igbo should not be president but it is about politics , Atiku made mess of Pdp rotation policy, I also don’t believe Obi can beat people wike to win pdp ticket , or if Obi had stayed back in pdp to vp to Atiku . The outcome could have been different. Nevertheless, Peter Obi is an hero of our emerging democratic political development, he was able to galvanize the youth across the country to participate actively in our politics , without Obi younger people serving in this govt won’t happen, Obi Lp will pose serious opposition to the current administration and this will engender better performance. The political calculation needs to start now, if Tinubu does not perform , he will lose next election provided opposition parties can come together, and Atiku will run again but I prefer Obi , but does obi have that political acumen and clout to convince Atiku and other pdp politicians to support him? Present LP can’t win presidential election in Nigeria, they need to be stronger or merge with other parties

A famous English judge once said that he could give judgment in favor of either of the litigants and back his reasons up with legal authorities. So, I laugh when Nigerians argue that the petitioners didn’t do a thorough job because the court “said” so. See if the petitioners had brought all the evidence in the world, the court will still go against it because they wanted to.

Grown men who you would expect would know the law showed Nigerians that they have nothing upstairs, instead of carefully weighing the evidence tendered, they ended up shopping for technicalities which Justice Samani said would be based on merit. We are still expecting the Justices to come out in the open and tell Nigerians how the judgement read was written on a Tinubu presidential legal Team. So the question the world wants to know is "who wrote the judgement, why is it on a Tinubu stationery, why are the justices angry that candidates who are not satisfied went to court? They must talk o, nigerians are waiting to hear what really happened. Finally did they travel to France together a day after?. Thanks Hon Minister Chidoka for your very inquiry mind on this issue.

    Election petitions are statute bound:
    The petitioners missed several deadlines.
One witness is an interested party.
The witness did not author her evidence.
Not even a single party agent gave evidence.
The petitioners relied on the weakness of the respondents; rather than on their own evidence.

What this means is that, it did not work from the beginning, has not worked all along and will never work not even in the future. The Constitution could not make it work. The electral act did not make it work. The IREV/BVAS also failed to make it work. What then is going to make it work? In my opinion, I think that the designers of this space designed it to fail and it has continued to fail.

With Tinubu supporters is it that you guys do not realise how embarrassing it is for us as a supposed sovereign country to select corrupt people into power. Your very identity, nationality and perceived integrity as a Nigerian citizen depends on it. I mean the value of your currency, the admissibility of your passport at any border.
By having a senile drug lord as your president and a judiciary that can be bought your value is zero in the league of countries as a citizen of such a mess of a country.
Now, I understand that due to years of corruption the majority of Nigerians have been robbed of their right to basic education and as a result you lack the ability to know what to expect from a good leader or a functioning judicial system but the fact of the matter is that in this particular case justice has been derailed.
And any learned qualified legal practitioner who is non-bias would tell you that.
The biggest issue here is when courts start taking sides, the law then means nothing, nor would there be any regard for it, simply because where it's supposed to be upheld it's been bought over.

@@okiemute7744The person who got the majority of the votes and the required 25% in the FCT as has been the case in previous held elections which was Peter Obi of the Labour Party who's votes were understated by election malpractices, voter suppression and intimidation amongst other corrupt practices.
As you're aware Nigeria has just had 8 years of the APC which INEC selected again and we became world poverty capital owing to massive corruption and poor economic management.
Unlike the other two candidates Peter Obi doesn't have a criminal trait nor has he been linked to mismanagement of public funds.
We need a president who is competent in terms of international trade and industry who would maximise our potential to be productive as a country.
Tinubu was saying he would recruit 50 million youths into the army, avoided public debates to tell people what his plans are in detail. He is too dull to appreciate innovation and technology and as Mo Ibrahim once said these old cargos can only lead Africa to the grave.
A continent teeming with vibrant youths for that matter.
Tinubu would only get international recognition from countries in the West who profit from illiterates and corrupt leaders being in power.
There's a lot at stake here and you need someone who is sound diplomatically to negotiate a better deal for Nigeria when it comes to international trade. Not just going to India to secure investment but on what conditions. Who are going to be employed as managers of these companies.
As a continent we need protectionist policies to secure the interest of the African people and that starts with putting an end to the dollarization of the Nigerian economy. And then protection of our natural resources from unfair trade. Investment in education of our youths in construction, agriculture and technology, creating world class hospitals for our medical graduates to train and practice to negate the brain drain I could go on.
Peter Obi is the man with the vision of empowering the people, whereas Tinubu and Atiku are in it for personal pride and vested interests. Someone with an "it's my turn" (e mi lokan) mentality can never be a man of the people.
Saying give Tinubu a chance is where we start to set a precedence for lack of discipline and regard for the rule of law and order in our society and it's a degenerative move in how far we have come as a people but more importantly as a race considering Nigeria is the most populous black race on earth.
Take out tribalism and look at each candidate in terms of their capacity to drive change in a transformative manner and there's no way anyone in their right mind would vote for PDP or APC or remain supporting either of those parties and it's the simple reason Obi left so as not to keep operating in the vicious cycle of paying dues to godfathers and facilitators at the expense of the common African man living below the poverty line with distant cousins overseas protesting and begging for their lives to matter meanwhile we come from a land of vast wealth in natural mineral resources.

We believe that petitioners' counsel might have fallen short of what was expected from them. Parties had copies of forms EC8A which were not different from their so called CTC they collected from INEC. Petitioners had no reason not to have used copies of their forms EC8A to file their petitions. That is why we agree with the judgment that the petitioners failed to prove that Jagaban didn't score the highest number of votes at the elections . Our only CONCERN with the judgment is with issues of QUALIFICATION. We are concerned for example that the judgment appears to suggest that a letter from an Embassy could contrdict CTC of a judcial proceeding in view of the Evidence Act. We agree with Chief Chief Chidoka that in future a president must score more than 50% of votes.

But why will the petitioners have to prove it.Did Oziodema prove anything before he was declared winner over second and third place? INEC has the data let them bring it out for review. Funny INEC cannot even prove to Nigerians how they arrived at who won.

    • @okiemute7744
      @okiemute7744 ปีที่แล้ว

A letter from the Embassy is equivalent to a letter from the American Government. So it has equal powers to that CTC in the eyes of the law. That CTC didn't say he was convicted and hence had to forfeit as a punishment rather it says United States vs Heritage Bank Account, which is America being focused on the property. In the final document, Bola Tinubu and his family were the claimants and they succeeded in claiming 75% of the funds back. The letter from the embassy confirmed that there was no conviction. Supreme Court has once ruled as well that where there is no conviction, a person cannot be disqualified to hold a political post.

@@luckyesasodje730 Chief Lucky we understand your point. The problem is that the petitioners are responsible and law abiding Nationalists who decided to submit to a clearly flawed rules of proceedings which expected them to upload their claims before they were able to get the CTC from INEC when they were fully aware that at least one of them didn't have agents in more than 41000 polling units and could NOT have collected the required forms EC8A in the said 41000 polling units. We must not blame them now for going to the Tribunal instead of taking to streets OR starting a process to amend the Rules before fully submitting to the Tribunal. But one of the petitioners had agents at all polling units and could have made them available if counsel asked for them instead of wasting time and money trying endlessly to collect CTC from INEC and thereby running out of time provided by the Rules which they voluntarily submitted to. This now appears to be a learning process for all to engage their counsel when the rules are being made and not after elections. Nigerians must learn to take responsibility when they've made mistakes: for example the declaration of the result by INEC in the middle of the night was possible because those who could've highlighted some flaws decided to stage a WALKOUT instead of waiting till the end of collation when complaints were expected to be received AS RIGHTLY ADVISED BY THE INEC CHAIRMAN. And at the end of collation when there was not a single dissenting voice the chairman declared the result and the winner. Had the agents stayed untill after collation they would've been given time to submit their complaints and thereby delaying the declaration of the winner by many days within which time the parties could have collected the materials for their petitions. In the matter of HE Uzodinma which occurred nearly 4 years ago, it is not possible to recall the facts of the case at this point. Finally we urge the petitioners to return to their drawing boards and put their houses in order as they proceed to the Apex court . We commend all for not resorting to violence.

@@okiemute7744 . My good friend we are all entitled to our opinions and both of us may actually be on the same side. There is no problem if our Apex court now establishes that a CTC of court proceedings can be discredited by a letter from an Embassy which will enable the country to further amend the Evidence Act for the future. We may also need to amend the Electoral Act : Section 152: "conviction " and "conduct ". It is a learning process and your post is appreciated. Thabk you.
