Welcome to the dirt. Its my passion; after watching your channel for years and somewhat getting to know you, I suspect it'll be yours as well. Here's some disconnected, random advice:
- Get a chest/shoulder protector ASAP
- Wrap-around handguards ("barkbusters") if you're going to be in the woods
- Find a good youtube channel focused on kids learning to ride motocross (e.g. MX Factory) and learn dirt riding positions. In particular, pay attention to arm/upper-body positions - its very different from street bikes and key for maintaining control over variable/rough terrain.
- Look 30-50 feet ahead where you want to go. Don't focus on that huge rock or tree log or gigantic rut that your bike is about to cross over/through.
- Its not a good day if you're not thrown from the bike at least three times
- Get that GoPro mount off of the side of your helmet. You will fall (see previous bulletpoint), your head will hit/skid against the ground, and that mount will increase the opportunity for rotational injury. Mount your GoPro upside-down on the underside of your helmet's visor. No, it won't interfere with your sightlines. A Hero 9, with its built-in finger mount is the best as its very low-profile.

Congrats man! When you get comfortable on that 4 stroke you should try a 2 stroke again. I started on a kx125 when I was 13 and I'm still ridding it today.
A dirtbike is a very good tool to improve riding skills and its a lot of fun to have one and learn to work on bikes

I became a biker before one year. First i buy a streetfighter, next the scooter and at last dirt bike. They are not new. But they satisfy me completely and all year round. Especially to ride a dirt bike is the best feeling.

I think the reason we dropped a tooth at the back is for top end (I think we have also put a smaller tooth in the front) it just help stay up with the bigger bikes on the straights.

Check your front sprocket, previous owner may have gone up a tooth to balance it out.
Might actually be lower top end and higher acceleration than stock if both where changed.
Get bark busters (the metal wrap around ones) that will protect your bike from a falls and keep you hands safe from trees or roost from other riders. Trust me it’s the first thing I do to all my bikes.
The front brake line should be routed on the inside of the fork so it doesnt catch something and tears. Congrats on the new bike!

I have been riding dirt bikes for over 15 years so I know my stuff the biggest advice I have is to stand up when riding the bike

It is a really nice and easy bike to ride. You will easily learn how to dominate it. But please buy a chest arm with elbows protection, that is very very important.
I recommend you to buy a soft one, like a Kenny Titanium, that feels like a sweater but also gives the protections that you need.

Although I own a street race bike (and I wanna keep it for good reasons); everytime I ride past an interesting looking dirt path on it, I'm sad I didn't bring one of my dirtbikes. I'm just more "at home" when my wheels are on loose ground.

The air fork means that it is more adjusted, it is common un mountain bikes

I switched to dirt/off road last year in December. I was riding like a twat on the road and thought do kill myself if I didn't change. I'm a much happier rider now on both dirt and road. I've now got a road bike again too but I ride my responsibly as I get all my anger and frustration out on the dirt. Definitely make some body armour a priority. Even a slow speed off can bang you up pretty bad. I hit a rock with my hip at very low very speed and had a dead leg for over a week and a bruise like a melon. I fell at walking pace! 🤣 I've also crashed at 30mph straight over the handle bars and rolled and landed standing up without a scratch bit better to be safe than sorry. You only one spine so take good care of it. Ride safe 👊
I do reccoment to get some knee braces i just started on the dirt bikes too and they saved ma knees about 10 times now so that means about 1 or 2 times a track day

Had never ridden offroad and took the motorcycle messenger course in the Finnish army... We rode only in smooth sandpits, on cliffs, on muddy trails and in the forest and swamp without pre-made trails. Crashed about 15 times per day and almost quit. Didnt break any bones luckily, only fucked my hands and had bruises everywhere. And yeah the bike was also fucked: needed a new radiator, new bars, new handguards, new indicators and a new licence plate holder. At least I learnt a lot. My tip for offroad is to learn how to crash

Dude i'm sorry to tell u that but the 250 4 stroke its not the best compromise for an amateur, i mean the power is like a 125 2 stroke but the maintenance its like a 450. Only a personal opinion. However its a pretty bike

Hi, I am just in that moment of curiosity in my bike like.. I have been actively riding for 4yrs,i had a ninja 400 was fantastic but naaa did about 10,000kms on it in 3 months. I got a cbr600f 2013..i have done 70000kms in 3yrs, and I think am done, won afew local races but I need a new challenge, loose gravel is a more fun less risk even sideways.. I want us to take this partnership forward.. I haven't bought an off roader yet I still have my cbr600f.. Am looking for a crf250 or the yzs250 or 450..Am a Fundi, an Interior design contractor.. I move quite alot.. Am In Kenya, enough off roads here..

When you go on dirtbike, you don't want sportbikes anymore 👌🏻 Tho i hate their oil change intervals/valve checks (if i remember correctly 10-15h for street use) and every 100h top end rebuild... Only for those who have money for waste 😬
