Well, there's only a couple days left on the La La Land 30% off sale, so thanks for reminding me! That 2-disc HEAVY METAL soundtrack by Elmer Bernstein is on my list. I'll probably end up not settling on just one, but since it's a sale, I may as well go for broke! You know what they say: music has charms to soothe the savage beast (or is that breast, as Frank Frazetta always reminds me). Have a great weekend. Cheers!
Well, that's good timing. I didn't realize that La-La Land is having a big sale. Coincidentally, Buysoundtrax is as well. Or maybe it's some kind of vicious soundtrack company war waging. What else are you thinking about picking up?
I remember two robot toys from my youth. The Xeroids. These were serious looking toy robots. I think I only had one. The Ding-A-Lings. A large group of limited articulated robot figures. And a giant robot called Mighty King Ding. I remember only owning a Ding-A-Ling called Claw because it had two large claws for lifting. It was probably the most affordable of all the Ding-A-Lings. The second was Twirly, supposedly a flying robot with a spinning wheel on its head. Then, of course The Micronaughts from the mid 1970’s. These figures were expensive. Up to $10.00 per figure. I remember seeing those early transforming robot toys in a Japanese store in the mall I used to hang out in. Frank Frazetta. I remember seeing his artwork in the Famous Monsters Of Filmland magazine in the 70’s. Another artist who was also similar to Frazetta was Boris G. Vallejo, his artwork was also featured in Famous Monsters, too. Famous Monsters sold books of their artwork. As to soundtracks, which is my favorite part about collecting, I happen to have the Film Score Monthly released version of Heavy Metal and it had both versions of Elmer Bernstein’s score, the album version and the complete version. If you haven’t heard it yet, your ears will thank you. It is so powerful. I would love to buy the Ogra/Gorgo figure. It will probably take two or three paychecks to purchase the items I want. But, anything you want in life is worth the wait. Have a great weekend, friend.😎✌️
Both Xeriods and the Ding-A-Lings were before my time, but I've become rather familiar with them in my adult life. I've even used commercials for both in my videos. Really neat toylines. I had no idea the Micronauts were so pricey. 10 bucks would have been high in the '80s when I was a kid, nonetheless the '70s. Yeek. I know Boris' work well thanks to the amazing Deathstalker posters. I probably like him as much as I do Frazetta. Well, almost as much. He is darn good and a staple of sword & sorcery. Last soundtrack I picked up was Dinosaur Island. Since I collect comics, toys, movies, music, and TTRGPs, I jump around with what I buy at a time. Thanks, Gary.
Hey Rob! Between all the great sci-fi collectables and horror collectables out there...I don't know man....ha ha, my eyes say 'hell yeah', but my credit card says 'hell no'. But what the hell does that little piece of plastic know? Tons of really cool stuff here. Sweetums and Robin look great, super detailed. Those Franzetta figures are amazing too. Teegra especially looks fantastic. Happy Friday bro, have a nice weekend ahead! Cheers! 🍻
Credit cards are notorious for their back-talk and nonsense. I certainly don't trust 'em. But I do trust Sweetums. I just wish the figure would be out sooner. It would have been mighty spiffy to have that fellow under the Christmas tree this year. Thanks for watching, buddy. Have a good one as well.
It's a great little figure too. If you go back to the latest episode of my Top Retro Post Apocalypse Movies series, you can see him on the shelf behind me. Thanks for watching and for the kind words. Welcome to the Snack Bar.
I am very familiar with the “Robert the Robot” toy that appears at 6:00. My brother had that one and I played with it a lot. The arms were movable, and the hands had a powerful steel spring that would hold the hand either open or closed as you positioned it. I emphasize that the spring was powerful, as the robot hands could pinch your fingers. There was a remote control in the form of a pistol, connected tot he robot by a springy steel cable. There was a hand-crank on the side of the pistol that - as you cranked furiously in either direction - would make the robot move forward or backwards. Pulling or releasing the “trigger” of the pistol steered left or right. There was a crank on the back of the robot, that drove a small phonograph record: I am Robert Robot, mechanical man. Ride me and steer me, wherever you can.”
I'm a big fan of good ol' Robert. So much so that when I did the second episode of my Top 1950s Sci-fi Robots series, I actually gave him a full entry. He appeared on the thumbnail and everything. Never seen one in person, though. I was surprised to see that parts of him were in red when I finally saw color photos.
Unfortunately, I don't have the money to spend on "collectible" items, since they're usually quite pricey. The last sci-fi item I bought was the Walmart Robby the Robot for $20. Actually, i think it was marked down to $15 when i got it.
I have that guy in the case behind me, and he is awesome. One of the best 20 dollars I've ever spent. I wish they had done more with that line. I could use a B-9 in that scale as well.
Robby hasn't been working much, although he did have a part time job as a Walmart greeter. However, the manager fired him by saying, "Emergency cancellation Archimedes." Since then, he moved to the rust belt where he volunteers at the old bots home as a Wurlitzer jukebox.
@@w.adammandelbaum1805 Well, that settles it. When I get super rich and famous from discussing obscure '50s sci-fi, I'm getting a Robby the Robot jukebox.
Howdy! Love the D&D1 insanity rolls. My friends and I used to make a game of putting out characters through as much trauma as possible and stacking insanities. Drove the GM up the wall since he was a fan of awarding heavy XP bonuses for staying in character.
That sounds great. Almost like you were playing Call of Cthulhu. I was always a fan of the more unusual nights of gaming. One night we did a player vs player game of Dungeons and Dragons and it was a great time.
@@AtomicSnackBar Ohhhh we'd do the PvP of Robotech from time to time. So much work for the GMs, we'd divide the room into two sessions and the GMs would bounce back and forth. So much fun.
@@AtomicSnackBar I generally preferred human 'cause the deck was more stacked against us and it encouraged thoughtful missions instead of a brute force approach.
I see "Golden Age of Science Fiction" has a 6th volume out, already. They are really cranking them out! The new CD features "Valley of the Dragons" and "Island of Terror".
They know the masses are screaming for that sweet 1950s soundtrack action. Thinking about it, I don't recall what the soundtrack to Valley of the Dragons was like. But I did only catch that one once.
Good stuff RS! Lots of cool stuff to collect , at variable price points! Seems like stuff is crazy expensive these days….almost $100 for a 1/12 figure. The Orgra figure is way cool, but almost $200. Oh, well. Gotta keep working on the way-way back machine. Skeletal Godzilla has gotta be an easy pick. Teela …………….. Norseman…. Thank you for introducing me to Molly Hatchet Sounding great you toy talking talk of the town…. Thanx for sharing!
After I did the first episode, I realized I focused a bit too much on expensive stuff. So this time about I wanted to work in some more reasonably priced collectables as well. And I'd say for the scale, detail, and price point, you don't get much better than the Sweetums figure. You know, I'm not sure I've ever heard Molly Hatchet. But those fellows know a thing or two about fantastic album covers.
@@chrisbridges4885 I was watching some review videos of her. And though she is in 12th scale, that's not a set height. It varies among how tall the actual characters are. From what I saw, she seemed a little short in comparison to other figures in the scale. Which makes perfect sense, but for that price...
I don't recall my first exposure to Frazetta, though it was probably seeing the Fire and Ice VHS tape at a gas station. Those wonderful days when every place imaginable wanted to get in on renting out movies.

The reaction line is awesome. I've thought about picking them up. I think I'm too far behind. The Frank F figures look fantastic. I just watched Gorgo, hint hint there will be a review in September. The phantom creeps is expensive. Hey sweetums, that's awesome. Great video Slim.
ReAction is a great line to collect. They look nice, don't break the bank, and are easy to find. I've just started running out of display space for them. Can't just throw 'em on a shelf like an open figure. And great, I look forward to that J-Man Gorgo action.
That Phantom Creeps figure is excellent, but yeah bit too pricey for me, especially for what is basically a shelf dwelling dust gatherer. The Frazetta figures are pretty sweet too. What was that glow in the dark Tor Johnson figure you show at the end?
That would be the newish Amok Time Tor figure. They have him in several colors, but I had to go with the glow-in-the-dark version. If you check the pinned comment, I have a direct link to it.
Drinking booze from Spock’s head does not go down well with him…trust me. I love Frank Frazzetta artwork. Gorgo looks awesome and I love the Mythos figures. Really cool to see The Phantom Creeps get a figure.
Thanks for including the HH mini-figures. They do an excellent job with these sets and I look forward to adding Mr. Lovecraft and his brood to my collection. Please keep doing collectible news programs. They are great fun.
Very cool. Do let me know if you pick those up. I'd like to hear what you think. I've been debating expanding my keshi collection. Thanks, Kong-ok. Good to hear from you.
6:03 YES PLZ! Us folks of “modest means” need collectible robots & aliens too! 😭 Sweetums had one of my favorite Muppet Movie lines: “Jack not name, jack job!” 😆 And FYI, Ogra’s official height is 250ft, so at 1/6 scale she’d still be over 40ft tall… you may need a slightly bigger shelf 😅
Look at the big brain on Brad. Math science. But that is an excellent point. I just throw around 6th scale for figures around 12 inches or so. It does get super confusing when companies say stuff like 1/144 scale.
@@AtomicSnackBar I’m a smart mofo, that’s right 😉 Hmmm… 250ft @ 1/144 scale… about 1.75 feet. Now that would be a good-sized monster figure right there 😁

Lots of goodies here but just like you mentioned several times, a lot of these collectibles/figures are to rich for my blood. As you know action figure collecting gets very expensive these days and that has got me being more picky than ever. Don’t get me wrong I bought a few figures in my time with some hefty price tags, but these days I try to control myself a little more. I really do like that ReAction Godzilla oxygen destroyer figure. That’s a pretty creative idea for a figure. I’m pretty sure my son is going to want that as soon as he finds out about it. Any way I hope you are doing well. Keep it Snacky good buddy.
Something I was thinking too would be cool, using the Godzilla skeleton as an aquarium toy. Then a viewer suggested putting the oxygen destroyer by the air pump, which would look awesome. I kind of want an aquarium now just for aquatic toys.

Politician action figures come with two faces and no spine. Collect the whole set and indict them. Or as Tor would say, "Time for go to jail."

@@AtomicSnackBar well done sir!
@@w.adammandelbaum1805 I have my moments. But I am working with the best here.
I love glow in the dark figurines.
I wish companies made them more often.
Me too. Though nowadays, usually when they do, they cost a bit more. That was the neat thing about that Tor. Same price as the normal Tors.
A Tor Johnson figure?!?! Wow, so much of this stuff hits just right! I'm a newcomer here but wow do I l love this channel already!
It's a great little figure too. If you go back to the latest episode of my Top Retro Post Apocalypse Movies series, you can see him on the shelf behind me.
Thanks for watching and for the kind words. Welcome to the Snack Bar.
When Tor Johnson gave his name at the urologist office, they thought he was describing his symptoms.
@@w.adammandelbaum1805 That actually made me chuckle out loud. Not an easy feat.
@@fredblonder7850 that is so cool …. Do you know what happened to that toy?
@@chrisbridges4885 I have not seen it in the past 50 years, so I assume our mother discarded it at some point.
@fredblonder7850 - I like to believe that there's a toy heaven where all of the toys our Moms threw out live on eternally.
Hand crank? Ride me and steer me? You sure you're in the right YT space?😋
@@Minikin1 Yes, exactly. Which side did you play in Robotech?
@@AtomicSnackBar I generally preferred human 'cause the deck was more stacked against us and it encouraged thoughtful missions instead of a brute force approach.
I see "Golden Age of Science Fiction" has a 6th volume out, already. They are really cranking them out! The new CD features "Valley of the Dragons" and "Island of Terror".
They know the masses are screaming for that sweet 1950s soundtrack action. Thinking about it, I don't recall what the soundtrack to Valley of the Dragons was like. But I did only catch that one once.

Skeletal Godzilla has gotta be an easy pick.
Teela ……………..
Norseman…. Thank you for introducing me to Molly Hatchet
Sounding great you toy talking talk of the town….
@@AtomicSnackBar Flirtin’ with Disaster all the way.
What did you mean Teela seemed short?
@@chrisbridges4885 I was watching some review videos of her. And though she is in 12th scale, that's not a set height. It varies among how tall the actual characters are. From what I saw, she seemed a little short in comparison to other figures in the scale. Which makes perfect sense, but for that price...
@@AtomicSnackBarI feel the pain. Maybe they scaled it back it back a bit because of the inclusion of her panther?

Amazing episode! I've been into Frazetta since grade school! Amazing figures! I love that Spock mug and Gorgo, too!

6:03 YES PLZ! Us folks of “modest means” need collectible robots & aliens too! 😭
Sweetums had one of my favorite Muppet Movie lines: “Jack not name, jack job!” 😆
And FYI, Ogra’s official height is 250ft, so at 1/6 scale she’d still be over 40ft tall… you may need a slightly bigger shelf 😅
Look at the big brain on Brad. Math science.
But that is an excellent point. I just throw around 6th scale for figures around 12 inches or so. It does get super confusing when companies say stuff like 1/144 scale.
@@AtomicSnackBar I’m a smart mofo, that’s right 😉
Hmmm… 250ft @ 1/144 scale… about 1.75 feet. Now that would be a good-sized monster figure right there 😁

Very cool Spock Mug & i must say the Gorgo figure is done very well & your right it won't last long but they can always make more!!!

Lots of goodies here but just like you mentioned several times, a lot of these collectibles/figures are to rich for my blood.
