Love the series. Stephanie Turner was great. Love the theme. It is good that this show shows the deeper side of families and the difficulties involved.
I like this episode so much! The difficult relationships in families are shown so well! And it is nice when Tom explains that despite the negative judgment his father and theacher have, he is proud of what he has accomplished with his life, and I agree with him.
I only just discovered this show. I am a fan of crime dramas but I find this series so far to be compelling in a different way than shows such as Vera and Morse. The comments below seem to demonstrate a lack of ability amongst some--perhaps too many people to appreciate life's real dramas. I like this show and I loved this episode. Thank you for your positive comment.
4:56 The doctor played Emily Bishop's last husband in Corrie. He and his sister had a pet shop. (I think he was her last) This is a great series. Enjoy watching it.
He always has been... Always sounds drunk Thank goodness for Joe and George And of course Jean She was turned away from a nightclub while Tom was away they said NO JEANS
I didn't like Joe. But my god, the people from his hometown are far more unlikeable. Pressing all their high expectations on him as if his life was theirs to steer. Why don't THEY get the Jag then?? You know Joe's on the right track because for one, he's married to Jean. It's the people you choose to be with that matters. I thought this episode was ahead of its time.
What a cringe worth episode. The boss lecturing a subordinate on family dynamics and how he should leave home. How things have changed. It's quite obvious that Mr Darbly married against EVERYONES wishes. Thank goodness for him that he did.
Are you still talking to yourself while staring at the mirror.... The doorbell is ringing It's the men in the white coats They're coming to take you away ah ah They're coming to take you away

THE RAILWAY STATION iS AT THE BEGINNING IS AT HEBDEN BRIDGE WEST YORKSHIRE
James Garbutt was very in When the boat comes in!
toms date was once del boys fiancee...the black widow rodney and grandad accused of poisoning her husbands....🤣😂🤣😂
Yes I remember her 😂
The episode where Tom reveal himself to be a self obsessed bumcrack......Love Jean's advice to Davey....Live your Life...Thats an order...BRILLLIANT!
These types of 44 year old shows often have a simple moral message that is over looked.
Hard to believe the late James Garbutt is only 56 in this and not the 70ish old person he is supposed to be playing.
People aged faster in the past, much harder lives
An Englishman saying a Scotsman is loud? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

What education did Tom have before he took the social worker job?
He was a senior draftsman. A form of engineer.
Why doesn’t the young cop just move out on his own?
He is protecting his mother!
Jeans husband was soooooo boring

The crime was making something that was so mediocre.

This program is about morals. The entire series. You must be thick to not understand.
