My Dad Cap. Eldon Henningsen was co-pilot for "Cock O the Sky" 42-102668. Oil Depot Rositz Germany Aug. 16 1944. Was his 3rd mission out of 30.
If your in the Dallas TX area try to stop by the consolidated airforce 10 miles south of Downtown D. They have tons of nose art from WW2 aircraft. I asked were thses recovered from wrecks and the guide said no, a farmer used them to build a fence. Some body had a good eye..

When I was in high school football team, specially when I was a freshman the upper class men, would put up centerfolds in their football lockers, my Junior year we had a new head coach and he didn’t like it, when it was my turn to be a senior, and Carry on the tradition, I would put them up, and he would take them down, to his surprise I had two older brothers that left all their Collection of magazines, so I never ran out, lol

3:25 Some of the bombers were painted in these “circus” colors and dot patterns to aid the flights in forming up as they orbited waiting for everyone to take off. The planes of a particular flight could see their brightly painted guide plane and follow it around until everyone was up in the air and formed up.
