I can just imagine how your neighbours felt and the 'shock, awe, wonder and confusion' they must have experienced during all those 'firsts'. I can definitely relate. BUT, now they have a lifetime of memories and time to process and review every event. Imagine, their first foray into the wide world is urban LONDON! Wow. The history, the tradition, and some pomp, the crowds, the sights, sounds, the traffic - everything! Kudos to them for being so adventurous and kudos to you and Duncan for stepping out of your comfort zone and being French hosts/guides in Britain! You're right. The apartment was disappointing. It was big enough but so stark, ill-equipped, and unwelcoming. It must have been really hard for you because your gite is so lovely - no detail spared. I know it is snarky, but I would write an honest 1-star review of your London accommodation. I can't wait to see the videos!! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Renée Duncan booked through his account and so he'll do the review. I couldn't find any other site that I could review it on, so that's why I got it off my chest in this video 😂. Anyway you will see in the upcoming holiday videos, what we got up to 😊 They are taking quite a time to edit as I'm translating any written comments into French at the same time, so that they understand as these videos are their memories too. Merci! 💗
We stayed in another rental last week in Paris. Almost identical to your experience. Two double beds/four places. Only three bath towels, dried by leaving them in the bottom of a bowl. Eventually the deep wrinkles sort of straightened out. My towel seemed to have a lot of sand in it(?). Two mugs (we bought more and I brought my purchase back home), I found a store and bought myself towels. I usually prefer clean sheets, but they were not too wrinkled when I got in. We did have some black and white pictures on the walls..of New York (coals to Newcastle) but apart from that it was identical to your flat. One sofa, not much use for sleeping, though it might have been cleaner than the sheets. We did have an elevator/ lift. We all need to keep lists about these places so that we can find good places, not expensive rubbish. Glad you saw lots of familiar places and although it must have been scary for your neighbours, they were obviously in good hands .
Hi Jan how exciting for your neighbours a great trip with you and Duncan happy memories.Shocking the standard of the accommodation. Will forward to watching the rest of the trip xx
Shocking that there was no crockery/cutlery in your apartment especially as he'd obviously spent a fair bit of money refurbishing the place. £100 & a trip to Ikea would sort it. Bonne soirée. 👋🏻
that place where you stayed was really bare bones and ugly in my opinion I've seen youth hostels with more pizazz I would do a nice little write up and how disappointing this place really was so no one else will get stuck with it.
Hi sdmsdm, We have, the owner seems to only advertise with one site and it is Duncan's account, so he's done it. 👍 I would have got things off my chest if I'd had the chance on another site but I couldn't find it 🤷♂️☺️
Well what a wonderful thing to do taking your French friends around London, I'm sorry about the department I do hope you complained and got some money back , sounds like he wants everyone to buy his things and leave them there, you shouldn't have to do that , anyway have a good rest and don't offer again to show people around London xxx
😂. I was considering showing where we used to live but Duncan was as keen. Whether he would change his mind if they asked.........🤷♂️ We certainly wouldn't be walking as much 😂 Thanks Tina ❤️
How awful for you! We pay good money for what looks like a property that will be ideal for us and we are let down 😢 It's always a good idea to contact the owners when there are problems. It might be the case that they pay someone to prepare the property for them and they haven't done a good job 🤷♂️ We always ask our guests to inform us of any problems while they are still in our Gite, to give us the opportunity to put right something we may have overlooked or has happened once we have exited. I actually rang the owner in London before we arrived to check what was available and he assured me the 'basics' were there🙄 We didn't even get that!

The King's Guards outside the Palace is always impressive!

Your friends were so lucky to have two wonderful guides willing to show them around London. Having someone who knows the area is a real plus.
Thanks JoEllen❤️

Hi Morfudd❤️ Yes, watch out they will be up soon. 😘
That sounds like a memorable trip. I am always exhausted after my yearly Ireland trip, but have a great time.
Hi Kelly, You go every year?! Your trip did look as exhausting as ours! Thanks ❤️
@FOPYSFrance yes, three weeks every year for the last 14 or 15 years.
How lovely ❤
Sounds challenging but worth it.
😊❤👍
