I never understood why blumhouse spent so much money on this franchise . The last movie was 20 years ago and the only good sequel was a movie that didn’t even connect to the first movie .Also to do a trilogy right off the bat just do a good movie first lol
Blumhouse loves making money haha at the end of the day I know they'll make a bunch of money regardless since their marketing machine is so good and usually they keep their budgets low. The sequel already is dated for 2025 so it's almost inevitable.
@@TylerCalvertThe reviews are so bad it may wash out after the opening week.
@@Oneanddone14 Yeah it's possible it'll fall off a cliff next week between bad reviews and audience reception. Also the fact Taylor Swift's tour movie comes out next week and it's supposed to dominate which is why The Exorcist: Believer moved up a week.
@@JamesEatWorld7758 I always heard solid things about it but never tuned in sadly. I'll probably check it out sometime soon wherever it's streaming if it is somewhere
See the thing is for me anyway like Halloween or jaws The Exorcist is a perfect film ...by that I mean you can't add or take anything away from it to make it better ..it was lightning in a bottle so anything that comes after with the name Exorcist attached to the title people are going to instantly compare it to the original and it will never live up to those expectations ..
I do have to hand it to David Gordon Green for having the guts to try and tackle it ..but whoever took this on had massive massive shoes to fill and was fighting an uphill battle from the start ....Great review 👍
Thanks so much! I agree though the original was ahead of it's time in most aspects where the genre wasn't oversaturated with possession movies. I do like DGG and Danny McBride, as a duo they've shown depending on the film they can do great work in horror I just don't think they're as well equipped for The Exorcist compared to Halloween. Like they're very different types of horror movies lol
There's one thing I don't understand: the 50 year gap between the original film and Believer.
Well there were a bunch of sequels and prequels in those 50 years it's just now being ignored for this movie so it's just The Exorcist then Believer in this timeline.
Sounds like a total lackluster.. that’s because of what he did to Halloween ends
It's still so bizarre how strong those 3 Halloween films began with the 2018 film then gradually became more and more of a mess until Ends. Such a disappointing conclusion to that trilogy.
Don't care what anyone says I'm going to go see it!!
You never know you may enjoy it! At the end of the day this just was my experience with it. When you do see the movie though let me know what you thought of it.
ITS CRAZY ALL THE REACTIONS IM SEEING ARE SAYING ALL THE SAME THING
Yeah there'll probably be some that enjoy it but a lot more than likely will come away disappointed.
There should be law that allows movie goers to be able to sue makers of films like these for being irresponsible. universal, blumhouse & green need to be taken to court for releasing this movie & being utterly disrespectful to the source material. The next two installments should be shelved & barred from ever being shown on any visual medium.
The exorcist doesn't have jump scares. That's not what it's about.
The 3rd one has one of the best jump scares of all time but part of what makes it so effective is the atmosphere and tension built up in the story so I get what you mean.
The Exorcist has 2 jumpscares, the flame in the attic, karras's phone ringing. You could also count Regan screaming in the hospital right after karras's dream.
@@mr.wigster8326 your right. I forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me
@@mikedurant78
Your point still stands though, The exorcist is NOT about jump scares. 👍
I’m looking forward seeing this movie and I just seen the first 3 movies I seen the first 2 movies yesterday and the third one few months ago and I’m watching them with my mom since she hasn’t seen any of them but we just have to see the 3rd movie and the two prequels too and I’m hype to see this movie and I’m not gonna hate on it like most people do but that’s just me though Tyler Calvert bro 😎
@@TylerCalvert yes i sure will bro and i am down with a trilogy and i can't not wait to see how this reboot trilogy for the Exorcist Ends like they did with the Halloween Reboot trilogy Tyler bro
i knew the movie was gonna suck i called it
Yeah I was skeptical going in just based around the majority of entries in the franchise. It isn't the actual worst of the franchise though.
Is the movie scary or disturbing?
It's on par scare/disturbing content wise as other films like this of the genre
I already heard it sucked and your confirming that. Too bad. You can't pay Lynda Blair enough to be in the movie. The original is the best then part 3 and maybe the beginning and the first season .
It's interesting because it sounded like she kind of acted as a consultant for the film but didn't sound like she wanted any sort of significant role.
Let's see the box office results over the weekend. I'm glad many people seen it already so I won't be curious.
@@mikedurant78 I definitely think it'll do well this week but not sure afterwards between the poor scores and Taylor Swift's movie taking over next weekend. A sentence I never thought I would write lol
@@TylerCalvert Don't blame her. Exorcist 2 is beyond bad, it's embarrassing. Blair liked the shooting script, hated the final product.
at the beginning the movie seems promising...but as time running, it doesn't...just disappointment 😞😞😞
Yeah it was promising til it devolved into the stereotypical exorcism movie
Woke Agenda Hollywood needs to stop ruining legendary movies. Not surprising all the bad reviews. 400 million was a bad gamble Blumhouse.
Well I don't think the movie is bad because of that lol it's just not a well executed horror movie
The Exorcist is one of those films they should just leave well enough alone..
I absolutely agree it's one of those films I don't think should have spawned a franchise but the original was so univerally acclaimed they want to keep trying.
