Kratom changed my life! I was in pain management for 9 years for my degenerative disc disease in my neck and back. My doctor abandoned me out of the blue through no fault of my own. The docs are scared to prescribe. Thank god I found your brother's documentary, A Leaf of Faith. I had never heard of Kratom before, so that film kicked off my journey to much better pain relief with just a plant. It's been five years of daily use and I'm just blown away that I went from lots of pharma meds to a tea. Thank you for this great interview filled with so much valuable information. I interviewed Alex for my Kratom Stories podcast a few months ago. I would love to have you guys on it too. 🍃💚💪 -Madalyn

I've lived w Rheumatoid Arthritis since age 21 and Lupus at age 30, now 35. Was on&off script painkillers in my 20s. Damn near destroyed me & ruined my life. Found kratom in 2019 and my life has never been better. 6-7g a day is all i need to keep pain levels tolerable. I'm anle to work a physical full time job, bodybuilding, and still dabble w powerlifting bc of kratom. My physical freedom is the utmost importance to me, and kratom has been one of the saviors to help me keep that. It also helps w anxiety &ptsd episodes. I no longer take medications for those either. I've gone up&down on dosages over the years, but found that 7g tops a day is perfect for me. Which isn't much at all lol. Thank you guys for doing this episode, means a lot to the people like me whose life is wonderful bc of this plant❤

Dude ai have been trying to get off forever for these exact reasons... i finally figured out what works for me... I have to supplement with pretty much anything that helps rls and aboid all nicotine, alcohol, caffeine and chocolate and real processed sugars and food dyes. Then I started a taper taking away just one gram per day every day until I got restless legs. I added back in that last gram and then started cutting back by .25g every night until I got restless legs... added back the last .25 and cut back .1g. Etc etc. most nights I have to run right before bed and then take my kratom to sleep and then the restless legs wake me up early so I just go to the gym in the am to work them off again. It has now gotten me from like 20-40 grams per day down to 1.5 grams last night! Its still hard but its manageable and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Also when I get the rls it isnt nearly as bad or as unbearable as it used to be

I quit k with subs. And then quit subs. The trick for an easier wd is to only take .25mg. You won't feel great but it's better than full blown. After a week cut that to .0125. Then .006ish. By then it's just tiny bits. Half life is 36hrs. Start taking every 36hrs, then 48. You'll start forgetting to take it. Done. You won't be 100 but it's doable.

How does Kratom effect testosterone and other hormones? I drink a lot of crushed leaf tea (not powder or extracts) and have been consuming it for the last couple years. All seems well while doing many other holistic heal actions like nutrition, lifting, running, supplementation, grounding, sunlight, sauna, etc. Curious to know all your opinions and experiences!

I take it daily. For me it does lower my testosterone, if I take it multiple times a day. I’ve done repeated lab work and if I stick to a single dose in the morning very little affect. Anything that hits the MU receptor is going to have a downstream suppression of sex hormones, by way of LH/FSH suppression. However, I’m 48 yo and live a similar lifestyle by the look of it, prioritizing all things you do; But I do also drink beer occasionally. I can also easily tank my testosterone simply by over training. So I’m sure age and resilience plays a role. Just my .02.

I don't consume extracts. I feel that those are what has predominantly given Kratom a bad rap. I am an Army veteran who consumes whole leaf kratom powder in order to help ease some of my chronic pain. I definitely believe stress causes pain to worsen, and that their is in fact a mind-body connection to chronic pain. I agree that you should attempt to incorporate exercise, breathwork, and meditation especially after you have consumed kratom and gotten pain levels to more manageable levels.

*If dry scooping huge doses of high potency Kratom were potentially fatal, I would have died a loooooong time ago!*
There's probably 3 or 4 times a month I have a dose take me to what is undoubtedly equivalent to the high associated with a fatal dose of prescription opiates, but was never feeling the sense and fear of "I need to call an ambulance" or "I better go to the ER!"
*I would absolutely be dead if this shit could kill you, let's put it that way.*
I've taken opiates as prescribed and still ended up high as a kite off of it to the point of being disoriented to relate the 2 sources as producing these equivalents to one another. *IMO, the primary risk to Kratom is forming a bad habit in usage.* There's use, there's habitual use *and then there's bad habit.* Regardless of why you take it, we ultimately want to know health risks and mortality risks.
Anyway, my ultimate personal conclusion is having made my own Kratom concentrate, the buzz actually cleans up tremendously and that congested, sludgy feel to a big dose of potent leaves is completely eliminated. It in fact feels like a completely different substance with a brilliant euphoria and without any disorientation.
*I don't believe Kratom has any potential fatality risks without a serious preexisting condition or mixing it with substances known to have fatality risks.*

@@brcage at that dosage, you were definitely as high as it can possibly get you and for a really long time lol! I've done that much in a day aside from doses where you're as high as it can possibly get you and contrary to various debates, it can definitely get you as high as a huge recreational dose of prescription opiates, but you can also sense your vitals and they're fine.
*From my own firsthand experiences, if you've overdosed on a substance that is potentially lethal, it's also typical that you can feel something is dangerously wrong from your own vitals, and even on my own monster doses of Kratom compared to your own, it has never caused that.*
When the hospital overdosed me on Norco and Ambien though, that was a vicious and horrible experience! It was also relative to an experience where I had alcohol poisoning and in both examples, you're mentally obliterated but can still sense your body is in physical danger. I was fully functional, lucid and wasn't even slurring, but the alcohol was enough to actually get me admitted in critical condition.
*I've never had even a vaguely similar reaction and sense with Kratom.*

The best part about kratom is it has a ceiling effect meaning once you get to a certain level you can't really go beyond that which makes it more or less harmless especially when it comes to stuff like overdosing or getting impaired at a dangerous level. This is why less is more with kratom. I take the same amount today that I did when I started in 2016 which is about 2 g per serving if I do four grams or more I get tired and feel kind of lazy. I found early on that if I took a larger dose I would get that euphoric effect and being an addict that kind of scared me but I also liked how it relieves my anxiety and the pain from my patellar tendonitis. So for the past 4 years or so I have been microdosing it every day where I take about half a gram every 1 1/2 to 3 hours can I find out with that dosing protocol I don't get to euphoric effect so I'm not trying to chase a feeling but it's just enough to calm me down and mellow out my extremely hyper sensory processing (disorder)

I got fired from chronic pain management in April 2019. After that, I went to the streets and started doing cocaine while I was searching for a new pain management doctor.
In June 2019, whilst in cocaine withdrawal, I watched that documentary “A Leaf of Faith.” My journey with Kratom began the very next day.
Kratom shut that “I need one more snort, one more pill, one more escape” noise off in my brain. It allowed me to work on my whys of addiction. I have not been back to pain management in 5 years.
I am a functioning member of society again. I am a thriving mother again. I am no longer a burden to my kids. I will be forever grateful and thankful that I accidentally found Kratom.
I now pass on my journey, wisdom and science to help those struggling with addiction, chronic pain, anxiety and depression.
Yours truly, Kratom advocate/activist from Colorado est. 2019.

I've heard the word thrown around on these podcasts but I still have no idea what it is. Is it some sort of pain relief

Low dose Kratom made my mind dull. I have opted for an Alpha GPC/Lions Mane combo for improving my flow state.

People come to the comments acting like they know what they’re talking about when they don’t it’s all regurgitated information and personal anecdotals from uneducated individuals using the substance. If you’re going to argue anything it helps to have literally anything outside of your own personal anecdotal with the compound Lol every negative comment I read here is so overly simplistic and terribly misleading when it comes to the negatives if there is any.

fast forward to daily use for 6 years and you may have serious problems with your kidneys. Kratom is so finely powdered that your kidneys are overwhelmed as filters because it is dissolved in the liquids and water you ingest and digest. People think you just eat kratom or drink kratom, and it passes through you like food and drink. They don't know that the fine powder enters your kidneys in water and do damage because your kidneys can't flush or process it fast enough with frequent use. This video does not discuss the addictive nature of Kratom because it's an opiode, or acts just like one, and the damages to things like your organs it can cause. My 5 year "honeymoon" with kratom is coming to an end because the marriage lead to addiction, dependency, and now kidney problems.

We don’t know your age, whether you’re fat or not, whether you workout, your daily water consumption, etc your comment is worthless and irrelevant. Somehow this wasn’t obvious to you Lol but if you’re going to make accusations you need more information.

No, but I'm pretty sure the opiate mechanism causes side effects that mimic low T (erectile disfunction)
