The partnership between Rivian and JBPCO, sparked by a visit to Rivian's Illinois factory, signifies a major move into the commercial vehicle space. This collaboration will allow Rivian's technology, including its chassis or "skateboard" platform, to be used in Morgan Olson's C250e, marking Rivian's entry beyond exclusive deals like the one with Amazon. With the exclusivity period over, Rivian aims to expand its fleet presence, leveraging its tech in vehicles.

Good news to hear that Rivian will be forming a new partnership. Seems like a win-win for both companies. Also the Canadian P.S. growing their electric fleet will make so many of the postal workers happy. They get to drive Rivians.

USPS is looking into this delivery van platform as well but it would be too large to replace the normal LLVs and FFVs. Possible replacement for the Promaster parcel vans. The collaborative potential is enticing though. Could well see an upgraded R1 chassis underpinning a daily box to box delivery truck.

As a canadian, we still drive vehicles from the same side as americans. You mentioned that the van builder is making a change of driver position to the right so i’m confused. Was this part meant for the australian market?

Mail delivery drivers prefer right hand drive so they can drive down the right side of the road and be on the correct side of the vehicle to reach the roadside mailboxes. Most postal drivers drive converted vehicles, imported right-hand drive vehicles, purpose-built right hand drive vehicles, bench seat vehicles so the drive sitting in the center and scoot over to the right side to reach the mailbox, or in our area, a retired couple where one person drives and the second person handles the mail.
