I feel like this is a very important video for me-- I'm MCM/Organic Modern/Eclectic and my husband is Traditional--but I hate these compromises because I'm difficult. Pray for me.

*Excellent Tips Kiva* . I'm 55 and single, but hey, you never know. Finding similarities in a color palette would be my personal jumping off point, then moving into style lines. Another point of consideration for me would be "tidiness". I despise clutter, but, if I compromise on functional spaces and furniture pieces, we can both live happily.

I don’t have to compromise. My husband lets me pick all our furniture. He doesn’t care, as long as he has somewhere to sit. We have had the same bedroom furniture for over thirty years. It originally came with a waterbed. That’s gone, and has been for years. But it’s wood so we still have it. I don’t mind it that bad. There have been a few times I thought about painting it. But it will be a lot of trouble. I just bought a new sofa and recliner, yes, he wanted a recliner, so I bought one for him. And I got the sofa I wanted. The tables we had from our old furniture. They could stand to be painted to. They were shoved into a storage unit until we got into our house. And they could use something. I’m just glad he’s easy going and doesn’t really care. Because he likes Mid Century Modern, and I hate it. I’m not sure what my style is, but I know what it isn’t.

This is super useful thanks so much for doing it. My husband and I are moving into a new apartment and will be sure to use these tricks.

My parents figured out years ago that she picks color and he does style. Otherwise you end up with a pretty but horrible couch, and an orange kitchen! When the downsizing move finally happened after 62 years, my sister chose what was kept.

I love this! It doesn't help me, in particular, but good info nonetheless. My amazing husband's design style is blue collar garage meets teenager, with a touch of rustic and purple. Not ideal.

I’m good with adequate space but design style mu husband would sleep and live in a homeless shelter. He neither here nor there for him. Easy for me. I like a mid century modern with a dash of boho. Clean lines and a little cozy.
