Part of me wants to say you commit a travesty by altering a Paragons song, but I do have to admit that your dub work is fairly good. If only I had my big bag of sensi bud and Tokemaster executive, but that was 35 years ago. Funny that I have all the original vinyl songs you have altered. While I appreciate what you do, the purist in me thinks you should be shot for damaging the original vinyl. Isn't there a way that these effects can be done digitally so the vinyl isn't damaged? Just curious on this end.Again, nice dub work, excellent selections, and thank you for posting.
Actually, "No vinyl was harmed in the making of this video!" I'm using something called Traktor, so the vinyl you're seeing is "control vinyl" or simply timecode. I took the digitized songs into Ableton Live, and for one of the dubs, took a track that was split stereo and duplicated the version channel to make a straight dub without lyrics.
Thank you for your sense of humor and response. Or should I say "sensi" of humor. I date myself by talking about vinyl. I live in Maryland, but my father worked for Delta Air Lines. I was lucky enough to fly for free if there was an empty seat on the airplane and I made many trips to Jamaica just to buy records. We couldn't get them here, just Bob Marley, and a few things on the Mango label later. I certainly got some odd looks at customs when I would come through time and time again, a 20 yr old with long hair, a suit and tie, from a 2 day trip to Jamaica and only records to declare. Since the Statute of Limitations is over I guess it is safe to say that an OZ of Jamaican bud cost $20 jamaican, but I would pay in dollars, which was double for them. I made some good friends that way. The island is so touristy now I wouldn't go back, well maybe. Thanks again for posting and your explanation. Peace DJ.
