Wow! That was the first album I ever bought too! And then my first concert was her (with Simple Plan supporting heh heh) when I was 12 in 2004. Funny wee coincedences are cool.
Jorge Pardo Bucaram I was born in 2005 so I never got to experience the times when Avril was at her peak in popularity, I do wish I was I was a 90s/00s teen...
Don't listen to the conspirators. Avril almost died from Lyme disease so it's kind of insulting to say she did in fact die. I'm a synesthete which helps me tell others voices by its sound. The Avril here and now is the same one. She stopped drinking which changed her voice to how it is now but it's still powerful AF.
They're all amazing (hell, Avril is amazing!), but that acoustic version of "Nobody's Home" always sends me shivers down my spine. It's so beautiful and heart-felt, I adore it
Thanks for the video! Avril in my opinion is one of the greatest signers of our century. Most people really just think of her as a rebellious rock chick, but has no idea of her singing skils. She can do pretty much anything. Listening to her is a true pleasure. I'm a big fan (guess you can tell by now). Love from Brazil. ❤️ 🇧🇷
I used to love Avril many years ago. haven't listened to her in a long time (I don't find her songs speak to me anymore) but I enjoyed this video very much, she's a really good singer
She's released a new album 3 months ago. Birdie and I Fell In Love With The Devil are great, and It Was In Me is a masterpiece: it's like a response to I'm With You.
Thank you for that. I don't think that video actually shows Avril's full potential, but it's amazing that you reacted to a video with this wonderful woman. She's super underrated
I think she has better performances than those included in this video (but that 'I Always Get What I Want' one is brilliant, I love it) but still, thanks for reacting to her. We would love to see more Avril reactions here!
Wow. The last cut moment of “always get what I want” seems to be the one I had an honour to see and enjoy her voice live. Actually I even have this very moment recorded (from another point of course and from a far). Maybe she does this song ending like this all the time but I want to think this is very same performance I’ve been to)))
I love how Georgina smiles every time Avril does something amazing. I love Avril and I think she has been able to manage her voice very well from teen to adulthood and then Lyme’s.
A BIG influence on Avril Lavigne from her native land of Canada, is none other than Alanis Morissette. She borrowed from her singing style and tonality for a lot of her earlier works.
Avril actually reminds of an another Canadian Songstress - Alanis Morrisette. Sure, their tones are a bit different but I think they approach their singing in much the same way.
I really wish you had picked some older songs of hers, from before she became blondie pop chick full of pink. I still love her music and she s a lovely person, but the Avril that was like 17yo dressed in a tank top and skate shoes and a jacket 3 times bigger than her size, walking around at night in the video for the song "i'm with you", that's the Avril I identify with, that s how she will always remain in my memory, that's the voice and style i fell in love with and will forever cherish. Hopefully you'll do more videos about her, cause i loved this one💙
Around 7 years ago I used to listen to sooo much Avril Lavigne in particular her songs ‘when you’re gone’ and ‘innocence’ and I would imitate her voice sometimes whilst singing along and I don’t know what I was doing wrong then but it broke my voice down completely
Her voice is underrated now, can't understand why we stick today's voice with auto tune no shade TH-camr or new artist today that felt they have voice has a nerve to put video and album and yet in live can't even hit a key, people loves them because I don't know them. ✌
And the "differences" you mentioned at 7:35 min - this is what Avril definetely got influenced by Alanis Morisette's style.. ;-) Confirmed by Avril herself. She mentioned this in one of her very very early interviews.
I loved it, only thing - and that isn't really your fault, these performances were quite old. Newest was like 7-8 yrs ago. May be you can do Another one with some of this era? Her voice has evolved amazingly.
Avril has a really good, strong voice. I haven't liked all her music over the years but she has released some classics, definitely. It's a shame she seems to have been overlooked by a lot of people in recent years. Avril still has it in spades! BTW, what the hell does "had me shook" mean? What kind of grammar is that?! Shaken, yes. Shocked, yes, but shook?!!
I think Avril is likely highly inspired by Alanis especially in her earlier years. I'd love to see an Alanis reaction at some point too. :) She has such a wonderful voice.
I know that it probably wouldn’t be a super popular video but could you make a video on Tori Amos one day, please? I think there are quite a few of Toriphiles here on TH-cam. Her way of using her voice is very unique (closest reference I can think of is Kate Bush although they’re still quite different). No other singer has ever made me feel so many emotions with their voice as Tori has.
I honestly can’t think of a major music artist like her from when she entered into the scene. She’s just Avril. Her voice is u quiet and lovely and her song writing and stellar reputation is wonderful.
Avril lavigne was my childhood. When I felt like nobody understood me. When my heart got broken for the first time. She was there. Well not literally her but her songs where there to support me and make me feel less misunderstood. If you wanted to do a more recent video on avril she has performed recently. Here's the link of her live show th-cam.com/video/fZ0791j4xjc/w-d-xo.html
Loved your review. I like that you gave her a bio introduction. Her middle name is actually Ramona (pronounced like Ro-Moaner)... also her first record deal was with Arista Records not Atlanta. 😌 The Melissa stuff. It started with a blog. The person who created it started the rumour about her killing herself after not handling her grandad’s death and pressure from the fame. The rumour/blog and being replaced was a social experiment that someone created to see if it could be believed. The person who made the blog admitted it was all fake, but like Paul McCartney she couldn’t live the rumour down. According MTV and AllMusic some of her musical influences are: blink-182, Sum 41, Green Day, Nirvana, System of a Down, Incubus, Lisa Loeb, Alanis Morissette, Shania Twain, The Hanson, Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox Twenty, Natalie Imbruglia, Coldplay, No Doubt. Avril released an album with some of her musical influences which also includes: The Distillers, Marilyn Manson, Chumbawumba, The Archies, The Beach Boys, Janis Joplin, The Cranberries. During UMS era, it seems that she listened more heavier music, she cited some of the previous band mentioned (Marilyn Manson, The Distillers) plus: The Used, Hole, Radiohead, NOFX, Courtney Love. She said she's a big Sex Pistols fan. During TBDT era she also cited Peaches.
Can u react to grunge voices like: Layne Staley Eddie Veder Chris Cornell Scott Weiland And a plus not from grunge but was in Stone Temple Pilots: Chester Bennington.
Everything is true from 8:40 surprised the hell out of me. I say that as a person who already knew that she can blow! Girl, you better Systane, and that's after you better hit that super high note that I didn't know you can hit! Whew!
Thank you! I think Avril is an amazing singer now! Her vocal technique is really great! I understand that in her early career she sounded off, but now she have totally control of her voice! It would be interesting if you do a comparison between her voice or singing technique back into 2002/2003 and now!
Thank you for your lovely videos. Authentic and honest. I truely can confirm the alteration of the voice over the years. I am singing for almost 40 years now, and listening to old recordings of mine I am half way convinced that I was switched to another person. ;) Starting from soprano/mezzo soprano to bariton/bass nowadays. I am so low in range that I warm up with men. **lol** I jokingly call myself a "mezzo bass" because of the lack of a female name for it.
Love Avril! I have Lyme and was diagnosed around the time she did as well, so her music really speaks to me.
Brussel Sprouts sending all the love 💛
I used to be obsessed with Avril Lavigne when I was 13 years old... So many memories 😁😁
She's one of the best vocalists ever. Avril rocks!
Check out Florence + the Machine

Avril Lavigne will always be a legend, an icon.
You sould react to her NEW album too!
Avril's voice reminds me of the late Dolores O'Riordan's (singer in The Cranberries)! Never realized until now.
Tamara Andersson I thought the exact same thing!
Really? I dont hear it 😁
Slight in vocal

I’ve always thought she had a really healthy and fresh sounding voice, great vocalist! Loved the last clip especially 😱
Avril is an amazing singer and songwriter. She's so underrated! I'm so proud of her.
Her vocals are so good these days!!! I mean, she’s always been good but wow. Her song “Goddess” 😍😍
I love her vocals on Nobody's home. She's amazing.
After Her "Head Above Water" I start to love her , and her voice , and her music , she is far betterthan of so many fake singers. ❤
She is by far my favorite singer. Her music is so important for me. I really wish she could have the success from the early 00’s again
She always reminds me of Dolores O'Riordan and Alannis Morisette.
I was thinking..when she flips into some of the yodeling/falsetto areas of her voice that it reminds me of Dolores.
Omg I used to always think that too!
and she also looks like Dolores
Alanis is her idol, she sung ironic and losing grip with her and their voices are so similar
There are some parts in her song "How does it feel" that reminds me of Dolores.
I love her so much since always ... The first album I bought in my life was “ Let go “ from Avril Lavigne in 2003 I was 10 years old

Interesting fact....Shania Twain was dealing with Lyme too and it damaged her voice badly...
i wish you could watch her latest performance of 'i fell in love with the devil' on the late late show, it's amazing!
Yesss Avril is so underrated she’s absolutely incredible!!!!!!! ♥️♥️
As for who inspired Avril, she's mentioned that Alanis Morissette is her biggest inspiration.
She sounds like she idolises Dolores from the Cranberries. Steals her style often.
