I read Jack’s first verse as him outing himself as a once man-wh0re who behaved questionably with girls in the past. The second verse was him trying to convince the girl he’s having a long distance thing with to meet him in person and give him a chance, with no obligations.
We all heard his ambition to master various genres as a soloist. I think he just started with what he's good at. I am very happy for him breaking the certain level of expections from cute Maknae image. I also thought some fans want to keep him in the prison only singing Dynamite, Butter, Still with you and Spring day. I am not against them because those songs are also great ones and he could live and sing only such kinds of songs for them. But, I really want to see him achieving his goals as a solo artist without such kind of limitations. I could see his huge amount of practice and efforts to record this great song. I really hope to see him achieving his goals as a soloist. I am sure he could be a great artist in history. Sorry for my English, it's not my first language :)

His album is on its way…. I think he just wanted to put out fun songs that he enjoys… like these are the songs that he grew up loving and listening to… but he’s very into sounds and rhythm and bases his choices on his gut instincts. So the songs are more about how they sound and the melody.
I always love your reactions, but I'm super happy you took the critical approach you did on this. Because social media is in total meltdown over this song and it's been exhausting. I had all the same initial reactions, but then also took a closer look at the lyrics and realized how they made sense in the context of the song. JK sounds amazing, looks unreal, and the dancers were on FIRE. I'm so proud of him for taking risks and being true to himself.

So many people are saying they see JT (Timberlake) in this song. It’s true! I mean he has his own flare and flow and color but there is a reason we look up to people and admire them. Can’t help but see them in our own thing. I think people are over thinking Jack’s lines. There are a couple lines I don’t care for and I think it’s better without it but still like the song! The live performance is even better!
The alternate version (without JH) really brings out kookie’s soothing voice and I had a great time taking in everything he has to offer!

I really love this so much the whole video but Jungkook is getting alot hate over the rap from fans on Instagram big hit account. its really not nice what they are saying they are saying it's disrespectful to women and It’s a misogynistic and they are saying the rap ruined the song he doesn’t deserve this hate at all .i don’t agree with what they say . They are trying to sabotage his hard work BTS like it so does many of us .
It is interesting because like the person who gives the permission of that Jack verse is JK since it is his song. So I guess if people feel offended or think stuff was misogynistic then you know that is how they feel and it is what it is. But like you could tell that none of that was meant in a misogynistic way but ofc it's up to you how you view stuff. It is ironic cause he was making fun of himself in the verse so I was surprised when people were thinking he was calling girls whoring when he literally said the word he in the line leading to it.

No. And i wish people actually did their research before saying stuff. The definition of misogyny is hatred or prejudice against women. No where in the rap were women hated on. I just wished people didn't throw this word around like it isn't a heavy accusation. This word will start to lose it's meaning if it's just thrown around like that.
I like your talks after video. I saw some people focusing too much on the lyrics then, they are missing whole vibe and great rhythm of the entire song. I hope you to see his live performance with amazing dancers. His vocie is 1000000% sexier than CD's. The dead body line actually makes sense from a logical perspective when you read the whole bar. The problem that Jack didn't realize is that it doesn't fit thematically within the context of the song. Most people who are jamming out won't be paying close attention to the lyrics, so they'll be nodding their heads, tapping their foot, then all of a sudden they hear "DEAD BODY." On top of that, people who don't understand the full bar will think that he's describing women as corpses. Especially when, like you said, he's trying to point out someone he finds extremely attractive. It feels lazy. He could have replaced it with anything to make the simile.

This is coming from someone who is a huge Jack Harlow fan and knows that the guy isn't some scumbag and is more of a lovable geek than anything.

Regarding the "ABGs" line, I didn't know the acronym -- and I'll be honest, first listen, I was so unaware of it that I was more taken aback by the "Dead Body" line than that. But after listening, I listened to some Asian women talking about the use of the term, and it only made enjoy that part of the song less -- especially when combined with the later line of "Korea to Kentucky." That line bothers me because the way it's worded sounds like "ooh consent," but there's an imbalanced power dynamic: it's not fly from Korea to Kentucky, it's *I* will fly you. It's not not just "You ain't gotta guarantee me nothing," but then he hits you with "I just wanna see if I get lucky." In imbalanced power dynamics a line that might be meaningless and it might be harmless, but for the person who feels that they're not the one in control, or they're not the superior one in the dynamic, being aware that that is his goal often makes me people feel obligated to do what is asked of them -- regardless of gender, and regardless even if what is being asked is sexual. In offices, it might be: "You ain't gotta punch my sign in card/finish my work for me/insert workplace related thing, but I'd really appreciate if you did -- and it would really help your standing in the company."

Regarding jack’s verses, I didn’t HATE it nor did I love it, I just thought his lyrics were extremely corny and poorly executed lol. I don’t think his feature was necessary at all, the alternative version is so good. But I am listening to the main version.
I do have to say, I’m all for opinions and ofcourse everyone is entitled to how they feel but I really dislike how some people were behaving especially on twitter, questioning jungkook’s character, saying he’s trying to be “American” whatever that means, just a lot of outlandish accusations… just straight up hating. If you look at lyrics from R&B sexy songs from around 2000 as an example, there where lyrics like this. Look at Ushers "Yeah!".
Is the reaction perhaps more about, as you already said, the disappointment that JK's solo songs are about sex and not about deep interpersonal stuff?!.... And perhaps too westernized ?!.
Me personally thinks it is so cool. that he ie is going for the top. JK just doesn't want to be a K pop star but a global popstar, that just happens to be from Korea.
I have a lot of friends who don't listen to K pop or BTS. They would never listen to a song like Euphoria or still with you, but they would listen to this.

Great reaction and I love that you took the time to sort through the rap lyrics. So many of the takes I’ve seen are quick to judgement with no real thought about what it really means and how it was intended. Agree though Harlow could have used better wording but I feel like he’s mostly about the cadence and delivery than poetry.

The track doesn’t have to fit everyone’s tastes, but let’s not spread any hate to JK or Jack. Music is meant to be fun, after all.
My interpretation of the track is that it’s about turning a relationship that’s long distance into a physical one, but it can only happen with the other person’s consent! The chess scene is symbolic because it shows how JK and Jack’s characters are both players in the same “game” of dating, but Jack is learning from JK how to play it right by being more respectful of women (hint: “So if you’re ready and if you’ll let me”).
The “dead body” phrase is short or slang for drop-dead gorgeous. That’s why in the next verse Jack asks his friends to take a look because of how hot the girl is. I initially had mixed feelings with his verses, but on closer listens it’s clear that Jack is clowning himself. He USED to be a player/man whore, but he’s now ready to be more serious with the girl he’s seeing long-distance. It just can’t move into more without her permission.
P.S. I have Asian-American friends who are not offended by the use of “AGB”. They were instead joking that they’re the AGB OGs. 🤣

No, you're on the right path. Even the girls with Jungkook contrast with the girls with Jack who are similar dressed, and non expressive. The dancers, girls with JK are assertive, smiling and confident. The chessboard, and the black and white throughout the video also play into the story. So good. The choreography and the dancers are some of my fave moments. Man, JK's vocals are wild, I can't get enough.

I feel like the imagery of the MV doesn’t help jack harlow’s lyrics. When he walks over someone during the d*ad body line and particularly when he’s talking about women. They line them up, wearing the same clothes. It’s just very.. yuck. Like they are objects. Whereas when I listen to the song without the mv, I think this guy is just bragging and being a hoe lol. If that makes sense? Overall I love the song though.

This song was good but not "out of the park" great for me. Harlow's lyrics was the turn off for me...and not because I thought they were misogynistic - just because they just weren't good...and frankly made me super cringe out a few times.
