I have 4200 stall in my Camaro and it’s a blast drive. First few days I was not use to the slippage on low speed but all good now. I would never go back.
Shifter information looking for one similar only with reverse manual valve body on a 700R4 I have a 94, 1500 how do you like the height of the shifter?
I got a 1990 c1500 with a 350 rn and I’m loving it but one question how’s you get that gauge cluster? Did you just take a 94^ and replace the OEM one or what’s up?
I used a 1991.5 gauge cluster. It's plug and play in the 1990 trucks. It has a tach and looks like the 1992-94 cluster. It's different electronically than the 92-94 though.
The Truck sounds awesome, out of curiosity is there a comparison to a B & M Mega-Shifter.I also see the shifter is mounted high,is that a custom fabrication.
Thank you, Louis. There's no comparison to a B&M mega shifter. The TCI Outlaw is a gated race shifter. While the megashifter is more of a street use shifter. Also, I fabricated a custom pedestal to raise the shifter 18".
Hey I'm new to this I have a 1980 cutlass with 350 engine and th350 transmission I want to add a manual valve body what clutch torque converter flywheel ect should I use
Question about driveability with a 4k stall converter- My daily ('80 trans am, 350 SBC headers/mild cam,TH350 4:30 diff) would weigh around the same as your pickup. Do you do much driving at 55-60 mph for any long period of time? Would the engine not being at the full stall rpm during cruising cause any sort of slippage inside the transmission, or would it feel "mushy"? I was looking at getting a 3k stall to go with a new TCI valvebody but I didn't want to just order a bunch of shit without having good research. I've never installed a torque converter that wasn't stock, so..I don't really know how an aftermarket one would change how the transmission operates at cruising speed.
Yes. Itll cruise somewhat slipping down the road and generate a ton of heat. With a 3.08, I usually cruise 70-75 so the converter is above stall. Otherwise it'll generate tons of heat. I dont know your exact setup, but with a "mild" cam a 4k converter is too much. You need a converter that flashes within 500rpm of where your power band begins to come in.
I can't say I've felt that way. Since this truck isn't a daily driver. If it was a daily, I'd probably leave it automatic. But this truck is a cruiser / toy.
I putting a 4500 stall in my 86 monte carlo ss with 4 speed automatic with 3.42 gears and plan on daily driving it around 55- 60 mph would I have any heat problems with the stall ??
I'm sorry Miguel. Just saw this comment. I'm pretty sure at the time I was running a 1991.5 gauge cluster. It's a direct fit for the 88-91 trucks. It looks like a 92-94 cluster, but its different.
did you make the pedestal? and how do like those flotek heads? i have stock vortecs with ls3 springs and 787 retainers but kinda wanna go aluminum on a budget.
Definitely not a race car. And I don't think he was really going for that. You would need some serious Honda horsepower to anywhere near as cool as a small block.
-A real truck with a real motor with a real guy with a smoke. I like it.
This whole video is a vibe
Vibrator maybe

iabsolutely love this video thanks.

Lol none of gauges work... But it dose look cool.... The really cool peace that don't belong is the storage on headliner. That's a 96 model option.

Hey buddy what transmission crossmember did you use?? I’m installing a TH400 in a 92
I reused the factory crossmember, just moved it back a few inches and redrilled new holes.
Josh Watson ahhh thanks buddy. I don’t have the factory one, so I may have to check a scrap yard. It’s the pretty flat looking one, right?
Josh Watson what original transmission was in there, if you don’t mind me asking?

hey im on the edge between full manual and auto/manual valve bodies. I gotta ask are there times when you wish you had just normal auto shifting?
I can't say I've felt that way. Since this truck isn't a daily driver. If it was a daily, I'd probably leave it automatic. But this truck is a cruiser / toy.

A 4500rpm stall is going to be ridiculous with 3.42 gears. Let alone a 700r4. What brand is the converter?
@@JoshWatson not sure it's dark blue and it's a 4500 stall is all I know been sitting in the shop for years but its brand new
@@JoshWatson I'm also gonna be running a 350 that's making almost 400hp
@@JoshWatson I have know clue what brand it is
4500 converter is way too much for something 400hp more like 2500-3000 stall be plenty
blowing alot of power out the back with that stall to high should have it around 2800-3200
Did you convert the cluster to a 92? Was it a pain in the ass?
I'm sorry Miguel. Just saw this comment. I'm pretty sure at the time I was running a 1991.5 gauge cluster. It's a direct fit for the 88-91 trucks. It looks like a 92-94 cluster, but its different.
Hey man what are you using to have your shifter sit higher ?
It's a custom base / stand I welded up.
@@JoshWatson alright cool! I’m building a drag truck rn and that’s one of my current issues
where did you get the shifter stand?
Fabricated it myself.
What's your final drive ratio..?
In this video it was a 3.08.
HAHAHAHA, HOW HE KEPT LOOKING AT THE CAMERA, THEN HAD TO SHOW THE CAMERA HIM PULL OUT A SMOKE.
Man that smoke stinks. Truck sounds good.
What shifter is that?
TCI Outlaw with a custom pedestal.
did you make the pedestal? and how do like those flotek heads? i have stock vortecs with ls3 springs and 787 retainers but kinda wanna go aluminum on a budget.
Wanna be racecar. Is he in the Honda class
