Meltzer has straight up said in interviews he doesn't likw the WWE style of wrestling and prefers NJPW over everything else. I dont take his ratings too seriously.

Sami is a fucking mid card champ, and he's never really been anything more than that. He's very good, but he hasn't achieved much in WWE.
KO has held a major title one time. Would hardly say he's had a stunning career. It's similar to what Finn has achieved in WWE, and Finn is much more talented.

I didn’t know what A 5 Star match meant until I saw Ospreay vs Takeshita
Now I totally understand the whole who cares about Meltzers opinion I listen to it only cuz I watch them all and just want to hear other people’s opinions cuz I dnt have a lot of wrestling fan friends. But on a side note everyone else that does Star Ratings literally do the same thing and give Will the credit he does deserve. And I’m a fan that watches any wrestling I can see when not working.

Absolutely Osprey isn’t human he’s on a totally different level when he performs, from his matches with Okada, Prince Puma, Walter, Switch Blade and Omega the list goes on.
I think that Osprey is right. Being in WWE would limit him because as a corporation they want to control everything with the charecter and wouldn't allow him any creative freedom or to work with any other promotions. With NJPW he can work with other promotions like AEW and has creative freedom.
The stars thing is dumb but he's still a great wrestler and it's crazy how much people think the stars thing matter while both Kurt and Mankind have no 5 stars which is criminal
I mean it's probably close to 50-50 Ospreay being amazing and also Meltzer is irrationally afraid of grading WWE highly.
He does rate wwe highly it’s just usually under 5 stars. But any 4star match and higher is considered a great match. I usually look at his ratings more as recommendations, like I’ll check out any match that’s 4 stars and higher
Nobody that watches matches from all the current major promotions thinks WWE is getting graded unfairly. WWE sabotages itself. It doesn't want 5 star matches. WWE itself wants to be "the star" - it doesn't want any performers to get too big to control.
Some people just aren’t a fit for WWE and that’s not a bad thing. It was a time where folks wanted to go to WWW cause one money and two to wrestle on the big stage. We are in one of the greatest times in history as fans and as wrestlers that want the flexibility of staying relatively Independent. Now you can actually stay indy and actually make a shit ton of money. Rather than being weighed down with so many rules you can essentially be your own person and make money as many ways as you choose. Also in regards to what I said about WWE being the big stage it’s guys like Will and others who have wrestled in the Tokyo Dome and other large arenas that stuff to them doesn’t even intrigue them anymore like it used to do back in the day.

Ospreay has enormous potential and he could become a main eventer but I dont see that happening under AEW and New Japan because organisations fail dismally when it comes to elevating their talents into becoming mainstream draws.
No that is something wwe fails at tremendously while aew and njpw Excel at doing just that elevating their talent to main event draws also the difference is ospreay is already a main event draw he doesn't need to be booked that way cause people toon in to see him regardless of where he is on the card

Folks getting up in arms over Meltzers ratings need to really step back and not give him so much credit. Yes he’s been around for a long time, he lives and breathes this shit and despite what folks may think he knows his shit very well. All that aside though he’s a person with an opinion that’s it. He’s no different than any food, movie or music critic. Yes they have knowledge about whatever industry they are but in the end they are giving an opinion on how they feel about something. Hell it’s been plenty of what most see as classic movies that Roger Ebert didn’t like (Dead Poets Society, Clockwork Orange and BeatleJuice to name a few) 🤷🏾♂️.
