It would be a good idea to use the protective cover over the socket when there is no CPU in it. Should be one with the new CPU. It may be worth exploring delidding the CPU; the 4th generation chips used an inferior thermal compound under the lid. I got a delidded i7-4790K for my mid-size box and applied liquid metal. With a decent Noctua air cooler, it stays below throttling temperatures at full load, and about 10 C above ambient when it's not doing much.
Ok guys when working with an Intel board don't remove the CPU and move the mobo around unless you have the socket cover. There are pins on the board, very fragile, very easy to break
I have found the heatsink that also connects the top of the heat pipe to the assembly is a lot more efficient. My M93's run 10 degrees F cooler than the version in yours.
hola buen dia me gustan tus videos y quisiera preguntarte si se puede añadir un puerto HDMI al equipo que estas mostrando en este video el m93p gracias
I tested this unit with i7 4790k. And it runs but the 65w original powersupply can not provide enough juice. And it would shut down under 2 thread prime 95 test , I had a 135w powersupply from a lenevo thinkpad and used that to power it up and it ran prime 95 all core. Cpu hit 100c at 50w tdp. I had set the fan to max from bios and it would barely hold 60w while sounding like it's about to lift off from my desk. 😂 I did not try deliding the cpu as that would only increase the power consumption and push the vrm to their limits and it might explode, and send 20v to my precious 4790k. I gave it to a friend who had no money to buy a pc with an i5 4670s. Even with that 65w tdp cpu the 65w powersupply is not enough for high load application. It works fine for web browsing and watching youtube but would shut down when you run prime 95. With the 135w adapter it has no problem running all core prime 95. The fan gets very loud with a high power chip.
no he did it old school how we all used to do it (and the directions used to tell you too) I am happy to see this video, I have about 6 of these overheating now. so i have to take them apart and put new thermal compound in them. Upping the fan in the bios to the keep it cooler vs noise level worked on 4 of the 6 so far. 1 is now louder at times, and still running in the high 70s and low 80s. the others started to have issues at around 70 and would start to freeze or have issues. with the fan turned up (could not even hear it) dropped form high 68 range down in the the high 40 range. but 1 is just not happy.
you can install any wifi card you want, but to do that, during BIOS upgrade type, INVALID for the model. By doing so, you will hear two beeps during boot. I am okay with two beeps
I heard you could add a gtx 750 ti to this is it true? It's suppose to be low form factor and low wattage. Not sure what other graphic cards could fit and run on this pc with low psu wattage.
Nice Video!... I have a question: I have an M700 Desktop Tiny (ThinkCentre) - Type 10HY with an I5-6400T - 2.2 Ghz. Is it possible to upgrade it? Which is the best and compatible option for it?
I got a used M700 with no CPU. I put in an i5-6600T (4c/4t) but could have put in an i7-6700T (4c/8t). According to the spec sheet, that's the highest it can take..... but that maybe wrong.
I was researching a lot and I can't remember where I got the idea of which wifi card to use, but if the FRU P/N: 04x6010 that will work for sure. You can see in the video at 8:18
Let's have fun One Life In the video I mentioned at 5:15 the i7-4790T but that more then double the price than the i5-4590T, and there is the i7-4785T which is maybe will work maybe not and there is a Xeon option the E3-1275L v3, which is perform well but left behind in graphics performance compared to the i7-4790T
you can. You need a mini PCI-e riser, then your put full gfx card on riser, it would need its own power supply though. But you can, through mini pci-e instead of the wifi card as per video.
It's actually really easy, just take it slow. and if you are worried about where things go, take photos whilest doing it. I've upgraded mine to 16gb ram and 500 ssd hard drive. so freaking fast. 2 monitors. its great. i'm now getting another. :)

@@djp828 M.2 is just a physical form factor. There are M.2 Sata based drives which are equal in performance to 2.5 inch Sata ssds. There are also M.2 nvme drives which use pcie lanes, they are not the same. Some M.2 slots on motherboards can accept both sata and nvme drives and some one and not the other. Be sure to note the distinction when looking at drives. M.2 NVME drives are more expensive and much faster than M.2 Sata drives.
It doesn't hurt the cooling any, so it doesn't really matter. People have the misconception that too much thermal paste will hinder cooling, it actually doesn't, it actually helps. So many videos out there that prove this.

These will also take the Xeon E3-1275L v3. 2.7/3.9 GHz, 8MB cache, 4 core and hyperthreading. Significantly better.
