They are the old traditional country, that's all. This Jamie Johnson guy, he's "traditional", right? He's pretty popular and respected from what I can tell.... He's also boring as hell to listen to, IMO....every song is a PAINFULLY slow,dragging tempo...where's the excitement, the energy? Todays country is for the young, AND young @ heart. I like all of the old timers you mention, but they represent their time, which is cool. It's a different world now.Nostalgia 4 the past will never die.
