- Welcome to day 13 of the Inktober Tangles for 2023! Today’s pattern is Icanthis by Zentangle, Inc. I love watching Maria draw this pattern. It has been a challenge for me, but I think I got it right this time. Icanthis is a beautiful botanical pattern.
The prompts for Inktober Tangles 2023 are here: bit.ly/Inktobe... Stephanie Jennifer does an awesome job preparing this document that has example patterns and links to all of the step outs. Stephanie’s file also has a calendar page that can be filled with patterns.
Please see the links to my Inktober 2023 introduction videos. In the first video I explain Inktober and show more ideas on how to do the Inktober Challenge: • Introduction to 2023 I...
In the second video, I show you how to set up your tiles if you want to use W2 as a string like I’m doing: • My Inktober 2023 Tile ...

You're welcome 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed it. ❤️
Thank you Barbara this is one I will need to work on.
You’re welcome. 😊 This one is a challenge for me also.
It looks great.
Thanks!
I’m curious about how Icanthis worked its way into becoming an official Zentangle pattern. I get that it has an ancient look and may be similar to manuscripts from days gone by. Henna drum also. They are certainly representational! They Look like something specific! Thank you for this video! Your voice manner of explaining is calming and encouraging Barbara!!!
That's a very good question, and unfortunately, I don't have an answer. Most of the Zentangle official patterns are non-representational but there are a few that don't fit that description. As for Henna Drum and others like it, they are not official or endorsed by Zentangle (they don't do that). We are free to create step outs for whatever pattern we desire, and I personally shy away from those that represent something like a particular insect or flower. But I also have to admit that I love floral patterns and I use them in my tiles.
Thank you for your question and for your comments. Thanks for watching my channel! 🥰❤
If you can do Samson, you can do this, right Barbara? You did very well drawing it as well as explaining it. Lovely!
Yes, you’re right! 😊 I appreciate your comments and I’m glad you enjoyed it. 🥰❤️
Acanthus. Leaf is the historical drawing,s this tangle relates too. Check it out.
I will check it out. Thanks! 😊
The acanthus leaf is depicted on classical Corinthian columns, although modern architects have simplified the design.
