I think you are missing the point that they both are accomplished actors and do interviews for a living. The two people sitting here are portraying how their love was too intense to know any bounds. That they were a 'team' against the world, and that marital status was a needless inconvenience. They are grown-ass adults in their 30s and 40s and they still don't have regrets or apologies for how they may have treated or hurt others, or worse had embarrassed or dragged them in public. They are just full of their own sob story. In Bollywood, I think Saif was probably the most dignified. He too could've found solace in someone's arms, but instead, he divorced, fought bitterly by Amrita, and only then began dating. PS: I can tell you from experience no one will treat you better than a married man, and no one will love you more intensely than someone else's husband. It's a male thing I guess. I too fell for it, but thankfully I had the sense to call it off. If your marriage is not working well then maybe you should address that first. In my case, I come from an academic background, and I was mortified by the thought of how will I face my family and friends. Lastly, if left on their own accord almost all men will go back to their marriages. Although why would a wife accept such a person back in life is a matter of individual preference I think. Anyways, if Sarika had done that, trust me Kamal would be sitting with Vani for this interview. As respectable as Sarika is, and as sad as her life story was, no one's heart bled for her, when Kamal cheated on her to end the marriage. For that matter, even her kids continued to live with their father. Moral of the story: Marriage may or may not have problems, but the availability of another astoundingly pretty woman certainly makes it look like an inconvenience to most men, who are of this kind.
@@bigbulk688 while most of the points you have listed are on point, the common wo(man) also prioritize their self interest. Ex: increasing divorce rates in India. The celebrity’s personal life is readily available for the public to consume and hence the commentary.
Sarika's mother was an abusive, toxic narcissist from whom she escaped with nothing at the age 20. The mother stole all the money Sarika made working from 4 years till 20. When she married Kamal Hassan, she traded one authoritarian narcissist for another, which culminated in her attempted suicide & eventual divorce. God gave her beauty, but did not give her love or peace.
This was 20 years ago and still far more progressive than today! Such taboo, polarising topics being discussed by stars in a candid manner without any judgement by the interviewer is absolutely a rare site to see today. People just want absolute perfection on their screen these days. Really such a real conversation and questions posed by simmiji were quite intelligent! Quite neutral through out without pointing wrong or right
The one point to be noted is Kamal has had marriage/love/romance/relationship with these women but each of these women only loved him and when they fell apart they didn't move into other relationships. says a lot.
That's right... He was a fairytale and once fallen to him, one can't get out of it... But one thing is clear, he also said it himself, that he couldn't love anything or anyone more than cinema as he was an eager young man, learning & inventing new things in this field & it is the reason he couldn't hold on to the relationship...
Sarika speaks so well, so refined. A certain aloofness in spite of sitting so close. She must have felt betrayed and deeply hurt as a child that's why she was not afraid to stay alone in a car at 21, may be by then her heart had already gone cold and nothing mattered, even when she was pregnant and off to London she didn't want any commitment from him, very strange. Her eyes convey loneliness and a deep knowing of life's bitter lessons learnt and purpose lost. Beauty is a curse, it gets attention from all corners, never giving an opportunity to make true friends, more often than not a beautiful princess is left paddling her boat alone.
People go to school for 16 years and still can’t be so soft spoken. She only went to school for one day. Goes to show- communication is not taught in school.
I'm not from lndia neither am the bolyworld you watch.somewhere l've had heard both their names thanks to this interview of Simi rendezvous leaving a comment here - one of the best write up comment reading it in a while
True i agree with you. Its not easy. Could see in her eyes. A break up within 3 years after an interview speaks of it all. Her eyes and smile speaks it too. In the end only memories remain.
Beyond respect and adoration to their relationship , when sarika said two people should not stay in a marriage just because they r married is soo right and she continues to say anything could happen between us in future, that's two brilliant and forward people u see here, they r literally free souls and their freedom allows them this magnificent love ❤️
This touched my heart 💜 in the end when they said “they separated after 3 years” …. And then his voice for the song .. beautiful.. haunting… theirs was a love for the ages … they fought the world to be together then as time passed that intense love vanished … life is so mysterious.. unpredictable …
I just keep watching this again and again. It’s such a connection that’s rare to see. Sarika ji is soo so graceful naturally gorgeous. Today’s anchors should learn the dignity and poise that Simmi ji conducted these interviews or rather conversations. Love it ❤️
Sarika is so pretty and ravishing and her eyes are outta this world! I always admired her as an actress. She was awesome in Grihapravesh...such an underrated performance
Sometimes just watching rendezvous interviews just makes me realize how much the world has changed. People seemed more poised, intelligent and far more calm.
I see no chemistry at all between Kamal and Sarika at that point. This interview was in 2000 and they were divorced 4 yrs later in 2004. Their body language and even their talk screams uncomfortable.
12:18 the exact content was shown in uttama villian and the dialogues of the woman in the scene in the form of the letter was the exact conversation !!!
My heart aches to see this interview. I hail from Tamil Nadu and I love Kamal so much. But I too want to know where the love goes. I feel that they were not so much in love during this interview itself
Being a teenager when I look at her I think how beautiful and graceful she is . Even after everything working since childhood and still seems to be a princess and yess that's what she is ❤️
He was a married man whn he fell in love with this sarika ...so pity that his ex wife didn't get married again. ..now sarika is also not in a relationship with kamal and not involved in any other relationship ...but he got another relationship after sarika and now that also cme to an end ...I don't know what would be the definition of true love in his view ...
I personally feel men shd be more responsible in a marriage than a woman. A woman leaves her house , parents identity for a man what more one can expect her to do . This is more than loyalty isnit it? So man shd value that sacrifice and have same urge for a family as woman has .
The best Rendezvous interview from all the interviews that I have seen. Simiji probed the two so well and both guest reflect unique intelligence, nothing fake about them.
I have recently discovered this show...Simi mam you are a gem! I am a big fan of yours since I was 5 and saw you in a medie wearing teacher role in Mera naam joker (the dress and your English were most fascinating to my 5 year old self) . I used to wonder why we don't have teachers like you in school. Love your grace and the show!
I'm well aware of them separating many years ago. And yes I was saddened for them and their gorgeous children. However, watching this interview just devastated me!!! It's different to hear about separation and divorce or any demise of a relationship, but then to observe the wonderment of a blossoming union and how these two overcame all obstacles to help their love for each other flourish.....but then to have this same love vanish into thin air (as they say - where did the love go??) it shatters me. And what I loved even more, was that they both admitted as to how wrong it was for them to even consider a romantic relationship, seeing as Kamal was married. I just wish things could have worked out better for them. I mean they had been through so much together. Thank you once again, our dearest Simi, for a remarkable interview with Kamal & Sarika. You and your show Rendezvous are incomparable. You have an amazing knack for enabling the stars to open up to you with such sincerity. My favourites are your interviews with Rekha, Zeenat Aman, Sushmita Sen, Jayalalithaa, Raveena Tandon, Hema Malini & now, Kamal & Sarika. Can't wait to watch the ones with Jackie Shroff, Hrithik & Susanne and Zayed Khan. I would LOVE it if there was some way that you could perhaps convince Sridevi Kapoor to appear on your show too, as she is known to be extremely shy & introverted. Srideviji is my ultimate idol. I am sure you would do an extraordinary job in bringing her out of her shell. :) Kindest Regards, Daniel
Daniel Williams Hi Daniel, it was wonderful to read your comment, written with utmost sensitivity. The complexities of the human psyche..relationships..how people deal with success, failure and love...have always fascinated me. I'm happy I could bring some insights for you through my shows. Thank you for writing to me. Unfortunately, Star World refuses to commission any new shows..so there will be no more rendezvous..not with Sridevi - or anyone else :-( Sad.. Kind regards, Simi
***** Simi jee. you can approach other channels.. this sort of interviews now never seem to happen. please will be pleasured if new stars and their lives shared in this way to us.
Nooooo....I'm SO disappointed!!!! NO ONE holds a candle to your show. Meanwhile, I just discovered your other show "India's Most Desirable" & I can't get enough of it. LOVED how John Abraham cleared the air with regards to his past relationship with Bipasha Basu. I think he said he'd rather clarify his reasons for his breakup on YOUR show, as opposed to others, for he didn't want to cheapen it. I'm pretty sure that's what he said. And I could not agree with him more. Your shows have integrity & really does peek into their soul!!!! You are an inspiration Simi. Keep up the awesome work, and PLEASE never leave our screens!!!
Daniel Williams Aah Daniel - you are so kind to say these things. It really means a lot. I would love to do more shows like Rendezvous & IMD...and I get about a 100 requests each day through various social media platforms..but...Star World has different ideas it seems..It was nice to read your comment..thanks again! Simi
It's very sad that sarika has to go thru this. Am sure God is by her side giving strength in all odds. I pray she will be in good health and blessed. Love will come back to her soon.
Today I learnt that people dnt wreck someone's home for fun... they experience such emotions which dnt let them get out of it... and yet somthing which has magic and charm at the point of time can also not last forever...but still it will be very wrong to say that the love and charm at that point in time was untrue and fake...life can be grey sometimes...you can not absolutely say whats right and whats wrong
so true !!! life can never be right or wrong ! it will always have its grey areas where we can't choose sides. but yet it will be true and real in the heart and soul.
Amazing!!! 👏 U said that what I can't put into words... Today after watching this I know my mind had modified the thing which I say earlier is wrng....💖
They both were so much next to each other...but miles apart as eyes don’t lie....guilt of past doesn’t lead to promising future...They both were carrying that guilt which even after so many years were visible.
I think this the only Bollywood interview I have watched till the end. The absolute truth about it leaves an eerie feeling. I practically had goosebumps. As I listened to them both..I knew sadly that it wouldn't last. I saw it in Sarikas eyes. She has eyes like mirrors which reveals deep and painful memories... If I had the chance..I would love to interview her. Life can never be built on someone else's broken heart.
Simi , Simi , Simi chuck those TV channels who don't want a classy show like yours. Start your own TH-cam channel or web series. One last swan song from a beloved host of THE rarest order.
To be fair, they did say in this interview itself that they do not know what can happen next. So they were aware that this relationship too might not last long...A clear foresight I would say, though it would appear in the wrong sense to most...
Where does love go??????????so awesome, beautiful and bold love story!!!so elegant & poise Simi ma'am...so many times have watched... beautiful told story!!
When I fist saw this interview I Found Sarika behaving weird nw , I knew why it was. I wanted them to be together.Great respect for Sarika. I Hope Nw when gautami left he wd understand and value Sarika in his life..
Amazing interviewer, amazing interview, beautiful camera work. Two stunning, elegant, intelligent women. Waiting for another Parzania, Sarika. Simiji, keep your interviews fresh and flowing the way this one did many years ago. Interviews of current day actresses pale in comparison.
The end was the best part. Full on impact. The 'love story' It would have been incomplete without it. Why shud Simi copy other talk show hosts around the world? Rendezvous is original and miles better than all the others.
So sad to know that the love they fought for dissappeared... and can't live together till the death apart. Nothing is permanent in this world...but they were meant to be together for that long. It's the Karma- a relationship works only if you know sacrifice, no ego , respect and loyalty. Choosing your words when you are angry.
Very bold for the 80's. Infact not aware of any1 even in 2013 this bold n courageous. They were such an inspiration. Best part is the song at the end of the interview.
The way u got him is the way u lose him - that saying is probably best described. Not dissing anyone because love is blind and at that time nothing else matter.
Simi ma'am we would love to have you back on our television screen, your shows are not only entertaining and inspiring they are if anything very educating as well,if anything they have enabled me to increase my vocabulary. We would love to have you back
+machinic I would love to be back with more seasons of Rendezvous! I've tried very hard but there's politics going on - and a powerful person is ensuring that I remain off-air.Thank you for your sweet message. Lets pray for a miracle!
+SimiGarewalOfficial why would anyone hate you and your show I think you should name he/she or them we the people will make sure they loose whatever power they have anyway we love you simi and I wish you the best in life your show was or is the only show I can understand as your fans are from all over the world thank you simi
+SimiGarewalOfficial your show is the best talk show in india. What I love the most is the questions you ask. You maintain the dignity of every guest and makes the audience understand different perspectives in peoples lives. You are the most sensible talk show host in india ever! i am praying for your best and hope you come back on screen.
Me too, I pray both of them unite, so that their family is blessed. Both r too good. Kamalji and sarikaji hv instilled good values in shruthi and akshara. My daily prayers r there for a happy reunion..
What a great love story Kamalji and Sarika but it ended sadly though those days people spoke so badly about divorce but today's actors are marrying and divorce has become common .... Kamalji looks so handsome and sarika looks beautiful
I wonder if it was necessary that the ending credits included information about their breakup and the subsequent roads each travelled. It causes a certain anti-climax sort of bitter sweet feeling after that wonderful interview.
23:00 -24:00 .at last figured out ,the other voice is prompting the lyrics to kamal. could be simi. that 1 min is priceless. its totally a different experience from the original. this one beats the original. respect to kamal.
The condescension in his tone when he says "Madrasi morals". You let down this woman too, like others. And you dare use a condescending tone about ppl who take marriage seriously.
Its so good interview but the end has shocked me I didn't know I just can't believe why did they get separated they loved each other so much ...what went wrong 😑
Sarika was a beautiful unmarried woman. she could have marred to any handsome man around then but she didn't. sad. Anyway, I am surprised that she said she did not go to school and yet she speaks well English. Good for her.
23:59 that line where does love♥️ go not only that also honesty n fidelity also craves🧡 for each other presences or opinions, but only remains flashes of commemorated memorial moments n sense of loneliness, me being a guy realise this bitter truth about Y r some men unreliable💔 for commitment 🧡🤝🏻❤
SimiGarewalOfficial, we would like to watch your show, which is classy, thought provoking, you make the stars open their soul out to you, that quality is admirable, any day your show is preferable then shows like Koffee with Karan which are flimsy, superficial, no depth what so ever. I am disappointed by the choices a channel like Star World makes, I hope better sense prevails over Star World. We miss you Simiji.
Simi mam you are most calm and best talk show host I have ever seen. I feel calmness in your words like Princess Diana. Please start your show again. I really want to meet you personally ☺️😍. Law of attraction. May God bless u always. Stay healthy, happy, beautiful lady
It was quite painful at 23:00 after hearing the struggle they went through to be together. Secondly i can somehow understand what their daughters might have gone through and not getting married ....
Why most ppl here are so fussy about their personal lives? They left each other with respect, and living their own lives now. An atheist like Kamal ji will not believe in marriage, that's why he is in an open relationship with Gautami without marriage.
I am not sure what Iam speaking is right ,but at that time kamals first wife wrote that she is sure that he will not remain in this marriage too. In 2022 when I look back what his first wife said become true . I think he was in to two more relations too.
has he said first marriage was mistake and also he don't want to get married so when he get his right choice he did second marriage but what happen that after 15 year again the love has gone to someone else this people are making fool to themselves and giving wrong information to the next generation
whoever breaks marriage , only women's get heart broken, either vani or sarika , its nt tit for tat, its completely innocence nd immature plays in love part. but interesting part is men dont even bother to console them , they just made them to suffer in hell . Womens are strong enough to come back , to show who they are
Kamal Hassan and Sarika are very nice couple as legend of film culture which the best two daughters are also very nice and so lovely for all as film cultured personality this family is the proud of film culture it is very lovely feel jn heart for all
It's not just an interview.. a masterpiece that should be documented to be shown to people doing Mass media.. how to touch the soul..
You're not the only one dear.
Ppppppp

Seriously, Hrithik and Sussanne, sushmita and Vikram bhatt
The way they speak... It's so enlightening and makes a person to go for introspection
I have seen very few intelligent women as Sarika. She chose her words wisely and her thoughts were really deep and meaningful.

WoW !! What a genuine interview. How evolved discussion by all the adults. Why we don’t have discussion like this today.
I imagine Sarika to be a socially awkward and shy woman. She has such beautiful eyes!
Why do I see Sarika's eyes speaking a different story, a story of love going haywire

May be Kamal is a great actor. But he may not be a family oriented person who can dedicate his life to one girl and children.
Maybe
Gr8est artist do have a wrecked family life
S Raj it’s because he is too good looking man and it’s very challenging with that kind of personality
Like Jackie Chan, Like Kamal!! Both are great personalities with great talents but not good with marriage life 👌
He might not be a good husband but he's actually a good father to Shruti and Akshara so much so that he turned both his daughters against their mother

They both were so much next to each other...but miles apart as eyes don’t lie....guilt of past doesn’t lead to promising future...They both were carrying that guilt which even after so many years were visible.
Glad they made this interview, i think they r both wonderful people better off without the burden of marriage.
They were together for 22yrs. Where does love go?
Must ask men... God only knows!!!
She snatched some other womens life
I think this the only Bollywood interview I have watched till the end.
So many years of love , goes bitter.
Lovely song at the end
Simi , Simi , Simi chuck those TV channels who don't want a classy show like yours. Start your own TH-cam channel or web series. One last swan song from a beloved host of THE rarest order.
To be fair, they did say in this interview itself that they do not know what can happen next. So they were aware that this relationship too might not last long...A clear foresight I would say, though it would appear in the wrong sense to most...
Sarika is a very strong and lady, for putting up with all this bs her husband put in a her through. She deserves a better
I will never support a marriage if a wife is alive yu can't decide some body and make a new home
This one still baffles me. Why? She is everything right I feel. What a natural beauty Sarika ji is
Well done interview by Simi Grewal a remarkable lady. Kamal definitely one of my favourites. Have seen Sarika groom into a good artist.
LOVE the way Sarika expresses her suchhhhhhh precious emotions!!!!!!👑🌻🥰🍎💞
Where does love go??????????so awesome, beautiful and bold love story!!!so elegant & poise Simi ma'am...so many times have watched... beautiful told story!!
His eyes don’t match his words. His body language. Clearly, he no longer was in love with her.
Yes of cause !
Yes his body language totally shows his distance she leans towards him and he leans away
When I fist saw this interview I Found Sarika behaving weird nw , I knew why it was. I wanted them to be together.Great respect for Sarika. I Hope Nw when gautami left he wd understand and value Sarika in his life..
Simi Garewal must do more shows . Please !
With so much intelligence in conversation, why is it that neither comments on the first wife and what she had to endure! Even Simi avoided that.
very true. This is such a humiliation for the first wife.
Because the first wife was not on the show. To discuss anything on behalf of someone not present would be hearsay.
Sarika is such an ethereal beauty!

per,
She's mental and you can clearly see it if you have those eyes
Amazing interviewer, amazing interview, beautiful camera work. Two stunning, elegant, intelligent women. Waiting for another Parzania, Sarika. Simiji, keep your interviews fresh and flowing the way this one did many years ago. Interviews of current day actresses pale in comparison.
22:55
that freeze frame and title card that followed... the hurt :'(
The end was the best part.
😊😊
Very bold for the 80's. Infact not aware of any1 even in 2013 this bold n courageous. They were such an inspiration. Best part is the song at the end of the interview.
I feel sad for Sarika .She has been through so much..
The way u got him is the way u lose him - that saying is probably best described.
Not dissing anyone because love is blind and at that time nothing else matter.
She was self educated and self made.... good for her
Simi ma'am we would love to have you back on our television screen, your shows are not only entertaining and inspiring they are if anything very educating as well,if anything they have enabled me to increase my vocabulary. We would love to have you back
+machinic I would love to be back with more seasons of Rendezvous! I've tried very hard but there's politics going on - and a powerful person is ensuring that I remain off-air.Thank you for your sweet message. Lets pray for a miracle!
+SimiGarewalOfficial We would like to watch ur show over Coffee with Karan :)
+SimiGarewalOfficial why would anyone hate you and your show I think you should name he/she or them we the people will make sure they loose whatever power they have anyway we love you simi and I wish you the best in life your show was or is the only show I can understand as your fans are from all over the world thank you simi
lucky h l
+SimiGarewalOfficial your show is the best talk show in india. What I love the most is the questions you ask. You maintain the dignity of every guest and makes the audience understand different perspectives in peoples lives. You are the most sensible talk show host in india ever! i am praying for your best and hope you come back on screen.
I sincerely hope and pray that they get back together and live rest of their lives as partners ; married or not married. May sense prevail !
Me too, I pray both of them unite, so that their family is blessed. Both r too good. Kamalji and sarikaji hv instilled good values in shruthi and akshara. My daily prayers r there for a happy reunion..
Kamal Haasan and Sarika, hats off to you for your courage. I learnt a lot from you
What a great love story Kamalji and Sarika but it ended sadly though those days people spoke so badly about divorce but today's actors are marrying and divorce has become common .... Kamalji looks so handsome and sarika looks beautiful
Look at the point.. Thy both said there's no expectation.. N acceptance wat a WOW... true love
At least they’re open: had an affair, had a child out of a wedlock. Not like these other celebs that always lie and act like they’re holy
I wonder if it was necessary that the ending credits included information about their breakup and the subsequent roads each travelled. It causes a certain anti-climax sort of bitter sweet feeling after that wonderful interview.
Poor Sarika... What a rough life.. 😔 still remember her innocent face from Hamraaz and that cute "aunty ka aunta" expressions..
She likes to read, that explains why she speaks so fluently in English.
Oh come on English has nothing to do with school any body can anywhr can learn English
@@arunadevi4846 Any capability requires hard work. Let us appreciate it.
18:00 she predicted it very well
Why most ppl here are so fussy about their personal lives? They left each other with respect, and living their own lives now. An atheist like Kamal ji will not believe in marriage, that's why he is in an open relationship with Gautami without marriage.
Most geniune interview and they are awesome in way they are ..love you both🥰🥰
kamal sarika, hrithik suzzanee, saif ali khan amrita singh, do i see a pattern?
Indeed
Arjun rampal, farhan akthar and the list will go on
Yes of course!
Srk gauri did the interview too but they're together
"Where does Love go" hit me hard. I don't think anyone has an answer for that!!!
Did anyone else notice that Sarika is wearing two different earrings?
Yea..n seems quite odd..as if she cudnt decide which to wear n put one of both..
Well this is the way of her shringhar.....
Ya.. i too mentioned that
Its a fashion
That's fashion for you right there.
"Speak English like Simi Gharewal" that's what we should tell children.
In a profession which they are in,holding on to each other steadfastly forever and that too with genuinity,is a dreamlike supposition.
Love fades away after sometime i guess. This independent couple know what they want.
I am not sure what Iam speaking is right ,but at that time kamals first wife wrote that she is sure that he will not remain in this marriage too. In 2022 when I look back what his first wife said become true . I think he was in to two more relations too.
@Aishwarya Yes ,u r right !
They came, They Saw, They Fell In Love, Got Together, Made Babies , Raised Them & Went Their Separate Ways . Great Story Great Lives
Where are you, when you will be back with such pleasant guest like ratan tata, lovely man and a beautiful interview indeed??
This is so sad.. Just 3 years after this interview.... Unbelievable....
haarshan haarshan isn’t it sad? In the end the way he sang that song made me cry buckets 😭😭😭to some ppl love is just a fantasy😐
has he said first marriage was mistake and also he don't want to get married so when he get his right choice he did second marriage but what happen that after 15 year again the love has gone to someone else this people are making fool to themselves and giving wrong information to the next generation
Sarika has really tragic life and both people who gave her hurt named as Kamal...
For her Right choice was Sachin
whoever breaks marriage , only women's get heart broken, either vani or sarika , its nt tit for tat, its completely innocence nd immature plays in love part. but interesting part is men dont even bother to console them , they just made them to suffer in hell . Womens are strong enough to come back , to show who they are
Merry songs :)
I feel sad for Sarika. Wishing her a very happy life and fulfillment of all her dreams.
Shes adulterous. Now shes alone
Yes, even I wonder so many times "where does love go?" ..... And I hope mine doesn't go anywhere
Simi mam ...calm and composed mst elegent interviewer.
Kamal Hassan and Sarika are very nice couple as legend of film culture which the best two daughters are also very nice and so lovely for all as film cultured personality this family is the proud of film culture it is very lovely feel jn heart for all
Such a painful interview… but classic.
Simi garewalji..please take an interview of vani ganapathy.
