+Tomas Ferreira Hm. There are dozens, but not necessarily within the declared framework of "retro" and certainly not within the confines of the InsideOut label. You'd want to check out names such as Kayo Dot, Thinking Plague, Make A Rising, Cheer-Accident, PoiL, Koenjihyakkei, Future Kings of England, Stats, Bent Knee, Seven Impale, Sanguine Hum, Zombi, Jack Dupon, Vezhlivyi Otkaz, Thumpermonkey, Ni, Guapo, Thank You Scientist, Rhún, The Cellar and Point, Aquaserge, Yugen, Nooumena, With Eyes Abstract, Uz Jsme Doma, Pixel, Thieves' Kitchen, Gösta Berlings Saga, Stabat Akish, Needlepoint, The Knells - the list goes on and on; it's absolutely a happening thing and it's been happening for quite some time. But don't go looking for their "GeneYes" factors, 'cause you'll find preciously and gratefully little of that.
Richard, thanks for this list. It seems like we have similar taste. Make a rising, bent knee, and knife world are probably my top 3 favourite bands right now. I haven't listened to any of the other bands you listed so I have a feeling I've got some good stuff in store for me.
I went for a walk in a mask today (Covid) whilst listening to the special garage sessions of Cardiacs. This is just the right thing to now be listening to whilst enjoying an irish whiskey with ice and Pepsi max!!
Fuck Yeah! All of the world's interesting musical ideas distilled into a mere eight minutes. Can't wait to hear the next album, which will inevitably use ideas from the near future of possible music. Eventually with the help of Knifeworld this planet may well achieve a state of grace.
Just an amazing tune and the entire disc is as well. Only bad part is that it ends... Enjoy watching Kavus's over exaggerated antics, as the rest of the band plays mostly straight faced, it seems perfect to me.
Don't know how many times I've watched this - countless though. It's absolutely inspired throughout I love it - hope you're not leaving this unit for Hong totally Kavus though Melanie could carry the whole thing as far as I'm concerned!
Holy shit. Friend gave me the link to this. You had me at "OMG THERE'S A BASSOON!!!!!!1!!1!!" The fact that I liked the music is a nice bonus, too. :-)
Some of the very best bands use bassoon: Mothers of Invention, Comus, Henry Cow, Knifeworld, North Sea Radio Orchestra, Moulettes, Jack O' The Clock...
Wouldn't call this a 'Psychedelic band', more like an all-you-can-eat Music Salad based on Prog, w/ Heavy, Math, Folk Rock elements Soul horns/ RnB Shout vocals + choir like B. vocal and 'Impressionistic Harmony' thrown in for good measure...impeccably played/recorded, but my guess is it is better appreciated w/ via studio versions w/ headphones, as opposed to live..too many musical details...The low point to me is the lead vocalist, I know this is HIS band, but he seems a bit too self-absorbed, w/ his Barrett-like Jewfro, 'crazy' bulging eyes staring into the camera,...but fans may say his vocal timbre fits the style...also..where do you go musically after condensing so many musical genera into 8 Minutes? Music for the ipod shuffle/free down load generation.
+EgyptianMinor I can understand some of your comments but music for the i pod shuffle/free download? really? their music is more worthy of that i think and certainly more interesting than the familiar commercial releases that sell in droves
+EgyptianMinor I think your synopsis is nonsense, with respect. What does it matter what kind of music it is? It's either good music or bad music, simple as that. I reckon Knifeworld are the most interesting new band I've heard in a long time. As for your views on the singer - well, you're wrong on that one too. It's a music video, and it looks to me like Kavus is trying to enjoy himself. How dare he enjoy himself! This is beautiful, interesting and heartfelt music. I think it's fucking wonderful, whatever label to want to put on it. Do yourself a favour and get the album, it's superb.
+Molly Brown a bit unnecessary to say Knifeworld are shit. You probably only like music that is familiar. I personally think they are brilliant and superb mucicians
The full band have great musicians, but they seem to be overshadowed by Kavus, he seems to be pushing to hard to become a recognized musician... sincerely I love how the sound of Knifeworld is evolving, but I really cannot enjoy the music watching Kavus ego growing up...
Why'd you grow those teeth in your heart Raul Rafael? Kavis imo appears to have a more extroverted and enthusiastic personality than the other members in the band or maybe the other members could care less about stage antics and miming in videos or are all shy and prefer to focus on their instrument and musical performance, who knows? The only ego I see here is yours Raul and it looks to be a sore, bitter and slightly jealous one at that. Cheer up Leggo my ego
Kavus Torabi - surely one of the most criminally underrated musicians of our time!. Thank you for this most beautiful of works. 🙂
✌🏻❤️🇬🇧
I concur..
This is my new favourite song. Absolutely sublime.
Gotta love a band that employs a bassoon.
Contra-bassoon
respect. I think they're the first modern prog rock band (2000's-) that doesn't sound absolutely cheesy and arrogant.
Agreed. This is what real progressive music is. Hopefully they'll get more attention in the next few years.

Richard Toftesund Thanks for pointing out Sanguine Hum 😉
I only just discovered Cardiacs a couple months ago and Knifeworld just today. Kavus, where the hell have you been all my life?
Just simply one of the best tracks of all time. That right balance of musicianship and quirkiness - top tune. Perfect video.
I went for a walk in a mask today (Covid) whilst listening to the special garage sessions of Cardiacs. This is just the right thing to now be listening to whilst enjoying an irish whiskey with ice and Pepsi max!!
RIP Tim Smith
Try it without the mask, it's even better!
I'm in two minds about this.
I can't decide if it's brilliantly epic, or epically brilliant
Kavus!
Get Jim!
Don't worry about it, forget it. xx
ah, yes
😂😂😂😂
and if you know what this means, you have great taste in music :)
Where's the fuckin dog, where's the dog?
Absolutely love this video and song.
The most exciting track I've heard all year! Cannot wait for the album. Superb video too.
2:24 one of the best guitar riffs ever.
Chantal Brown (Vodun) doing backing vocals, lovely!
Fuck Yeah! All of the world's interesting musical ideas distilled into a mere eight minutes. Can't wait to hear the next album, which will inevitably use ideas from the near future of possible music. Eventually with the help of Knifeworld this planet may well achieve a state of grace.
This is superb. Anyone else reckon Kavus learned a lot about being a frontman from Tim Smith?
The man paid his dues. :)
How could he not?
Just an amazing tune and the entire disc is as well. Only bad part is that it ends... Enjoy watching Kavus's over exaggerated antics, as the rest of the band plays mostly straight faced, it seems perfect to me.
Popped in for that riff at the end X
Great track Knifeworld people!
Ash and Emmett have outdone themselves with the visuals too.
not found such an exciting act for decades,.,,. so best.,.,
Six years on, and still a masterpiece.
Finally a prog band that doesn't rip off the 70s
Thank you for keeping the tradition of quirky and compelling avant rock in the post Zappa world. You guys are great!!
Still SO good! I think it's my favorite song of theirs
Se hace asombrosamente corto.
I love this
Wow! Brilliant!
Epic last night in London. Short set supporting Vennart but gained new fans for sure
Massive!! Anticipation sharpened for the new album and tour. Great video too.
Brilliant. Really brilliant!
Wonderful Music... ❤️🎶
Thanks for sharing this dreamy, magick, rock tune: Great video Kavus. xx
Really brilliant. Not just a little good or not bad... really brilliant...
This leaves me feeling just as excited as I felt after seeing the Stabbing A Dead Horse gig in Cardiff. Fantastic.
Superb!
Sue (W.U.) via The Chaos Engineers steered me here :)
Don't know how many times I've watched this - countless though. It's absolutely inspired throughout I love it - hope you're not leaving this unit for Hong totally Kavus though Melanie could carry the whole thing as far as I'm concerned!
Amazing song.
This is fucking great on all levels -- music, lyrics, performance, video. Glad to finally hear "that riff"! That riff, pull me into your mouth...
this is so original. and so cool
I love you guys and gals
Superb contemporary art rock.
i love everything melanie woods is involved with...
Song is weirdly epic, can't wait to see the band at HRH Prog this year :D
Just love Mel's bit at 4:21. She's ace.
Love the movement in this video...
New Prog..very nice😊
i fucking love this song!!!!!
quite beautiful
this is a brilliant band....no doubt about that
Wonderful!
This is so good.
This is SO GOOD! STILL
You're all magical.
Awesome.
Now that's what I'm talking about! That rif is a killer!
Holy shit. Friend gave me the link to this. You had me at "OMG THERE'S A BASSOON!!!!!!1!!1!!"
The fact that I liked the music is a nice bonus, too. :-)
The wonderful Chloe !
Joyous.
I don't know how I feel about this, but it's hard not to watch.
Artistic Prog! Fine.
So good babes
Kavus always had nice moves!
Like your little Bowie acoustic moment at 4:09 ;)
Very unique and cool song. Great muscianship. The lead singer acts like he's never been in front of a camera before though.
Janner! Brilliant, as always. Sigh...
I love this band, but wonder how a girl playing a basoon gets into a band like this. Don't get me wrong, I 'm glad she did, but how did it happem?
as400techman Somebody finally realized that bassoons are awesome :)
+as400techman Steve Hillage, Fish Rising, Lindsay Cooper, the original cool girl basoonist . Kavus is now fronting GONG, so there's a connection.
Since my original post I've seen them live, and yes, they are good. Very good.
Kavus lured her into the band with his crazy hypnotic eyes!
Some of the very best bands use bassoon: Mothers of Invention, Comus, Henry Cow, Knifeworld, North Sea Radio Orchestra, Moulettes, Jack O' The Clock...
drummers always pull the best faces
wow !!
Why am I only just finding this????
Superb :) xxx
Riveting!
quite zappa-ish
well the horn parts
8.01 ... nice number
this is refreshing for the prog scene
SAMAHDHI OM SHANTI NANDI HA SRI BRAHMA AUMNAMAHA SHIVAYA BABAJI OMMMMMMMMM
appeals to my weird bones
;D
argh i cant help but,,,, snarky puppy? ....
I see no problem with that. Both make great music imho.

Would you prefer his hair straightened?;D
Hard to respect a band that plays piano with a fist 6:13
WOW... Knifeworld really are shit. I saw them at the ramblin' man fair, I ran away instantly. ARGH MY EARS!
+Molly Brown To each their own, comrade.
+Leif Merrow She's blatantly a Beiber fan!
That miniature Leif Garrett is still relevant?
+Molly Brown
a bit unnecessary to say Knifeworld are shit. You probably only like music that is familiar. I personally think they are brilliant and superb mucicians
She's obviously joking

Leggo my ego
Great band, great song, TERRIBLE video! Stop with the googly eyes and all the video effects.
get your teeth fixed
Typical yank comment! Why don't you fuck off back to your "blak yoof kulcha" shite and don't come back from the Colarado shit bin you stink in!
Machiventa Hm,no capital letters or punctuation. Dental obsession and a propensity to insult without provocation. Americans Vulgaris,I'll wager.
Machiventa I like Kavus's gap. It's part of him, and his personality. At least he has a personality unlike so may tedious bands.
Good points everyone.
@@hplovehandle lol I like your observation of this interesting species
Awesome!
