Sensible, enlightening information thank you. Navigating our first year of retirement together after 43 years of marriage and working.

That first year is the most challenging. We've been retired for seven, it's a great life! Also married 44 years, congrats!

Ever since I retired, I've thought "my grass *is* greener."

One thing I learned. Money isn't everything to determine your happiness. My wife is bedridden. Constantly ill and needing me to hire helpers to care for her. So, who cares about markets. Protect your health care or insurance for long term health care.

Excellent on camera communication skills. Friendly and professional at once. Good advice as well. My work years were great fun but my retirement years are even better!

Excellent points! Just retired and I've been thinking is there really a "perfect" time and condition to retire with no worries? I don't think so and the one thing is certain, the clock is ticking so let's get on with it and enjoy what time we have that is left.

This is great advice as always. We are making our way though our first year of my husband’s retirement. (I retired last year) It is a big adjustment and we’ve had some challenges. He’s not retired “to” something like you suggest, so will have a longer adjustment period. Feeling a bit lost as he figures out what things will look like. I reassure him that it is a process. Appreciate your solid advice.

I completely understand what you meant by TV news vs. reading news. I don't enjoy the TV news anymore. I like to read instead.

For a retirement plan based on a greater mix of equities early on. If one doesn’t understand and have SoRR built into their plan to weather the first 2 (+-1) years as may be needed, they’re not ready to retire.

    Good comments, agree.
As long as you plan appropriately you will be fine.
We have found that our needed expenses are lower, and the discretionary about the same
When people retire “needing” every dollar in your portfolio to succeed, you don’t have a plan, you have a wish!

I see it as, is my life style too much for what I have or I can have more of a life style with what I have?
