Richard Strauss: ELEKTRA (Trailer 2023)

On vengeance: at the Mycenaean royal palace, the title character awaits the return of her brother and thus the longed-for opportunity to avenge her mother's murder of her father. In her trance of revenge, hatred blossoms to the utmost, but the driven woman does not find redemption even after her brother's return and after the bloody reckoning.
Richard Strauss' and Hugo von Hofmannsthal's ELEKTRA demands everything from its audience musically. We are showing the "Atrides shocker" (Kai Luehrs-Kaiser) in the production by Kirsten Harms again on 15 and 19 March 2023.

This staging does not work. It's not clear why everyone is stomping around in the sand; it prevents the singers from moving freely. Of course, there is no more direction of the characters, everyone does what they always do.
