Wow, this is so touching. The pain of having sick parents at a young age and the constant anxiety, fear and guilt that comes along with it is dismissed so often, and not easily understood by most people. His words perfectly encapsulate the feelings and effects of such experiences on some children, which are carried throughout their lives. The feeling of freedom that comes with playing different characters via performance is otherworldly and relieving. Thank you so much Blank on Blank for these videos, they are so inspiring and profound. And, thank you Gene Wilder for the magic, movies and the memories. R.I.P. ❤️

The man was and is a legend. My father introduced me to Gene Wilder and Mel Brooks and we've bonded over all there movies. The way I see it what made Gene Wilder a great actor was not what he said but how he said it. Whether it was with a hand motion or the emphasizes a word or a phrase it just sticks with you. He and other comedy legends we have lost will always be missed but never forgotten.
An absolutely wonderful time with Gene Wilder. The man just exudes kindness and decency. Blank on Blank could not have been more honoring in their presentation of Mr. Wilder. A most worthy effort.
Never have I been so emotionally connected to what one single man has said. It tugs at heart strings that have long been dead silent. I feel as though just by listening to this man I may gain strength for my future endeavors. Ty gene. I’ll see you one day I hope.
Weird how much he dislikes the F-word considering all the films he made with Richard Pryor. Also remember watching this interview in its original cut and he had to take rather a lot more time to answer the questions. Still, some absolute classic films of a style that is no longer made.
Richard Pryor had a way with the F word. In his possession, the word was sometimes superfluous like with anyone else, granted. However, oftentimes Pryor just knew how to use that word properly, for maximum effect. Pryor wielded the F word like a young Errol Flynn wielded a sword. Once you've heard the best, everyone else pales. Perhaps Wilder doesn't like hearing other people use the F word, or similar colorful metaphors, because most people use profanity like a child playing with Daddy's gun.
Yeah I heard the newer 2013 Interview on YT w Robert Osborne-A MUST-but he was def a part of the 1970-1980's scene of R movies like STIR CRAZY and partnered with the KING OF THE F WORD, THE GREAT RICHARD PRYOR! I mean, C'Mon! but this is what getting older does-skews perspective and how innocent things were-UMM YEAH_NO!!! But we love gen regardless and want him back in SOMETHING-ANYTHING! Its been TOO FUCKING LONG! SORRY GENE!
Touching, and revealing. I'm not funny in life either. Now it makes sense why I write Romantic Comedies, picturing Gene Wilder as the lead. I learned so much about the art and psychology of comedy from his movies.
Without at least seeing other leads, it is not possible to say that with any certainty. Acute pericarditis also presents with ST elevation which can be *identical* to that in an acute MI, but in all leads instead of just the leads that correlate with infarcted tissue. Lab work, echocardiography and angiography don't hurt, either, but at face value, there is not enough info in that one strip to declare it is without a doubt a STEMI. I have seen too many ER docs jump to this conclusion because they could not recognize a pericarditis EKG. There, I have done my pedantic deed for the day, I feel reasonably superior to everyone else in the world. Time to go sit by myself in the dusty basement and hurt from the loneliness and darkness that comes from being an internet corrections agent. 😔
I love this guy. Growing up some of the best times I had in my childhood was enjoying his movies on tv with my big bro. Woman in red is one of the first movies I remember as a child. Good times thanx to this fine gentleman. Love him dearly for those fond memories. Even if only in those moments
Love you, Gene!! Your stories truly are orchestral dressings to the beautiful ballads your musings bring! You have touched millions & millions more to come
I love Gene wilder, I remember he was in a movie about a little boy stranded and he was trying to get home and Gene played a fox and there was a snake, I think. Its been so long ago and i was so young. but I remembered him, he made a big impression on me. I never saw willy wonka tho....Idk why.
The world legend gets bandied about quite often but in Gene Wilder's case it's absolutely deserved. A master of his craft and what a lovely man he was too.
Really good! I always loved that scene, and that was the exact way it made me feel! Also always wanted to know why Wilder's filmography ends so suddenly.
My second favorite actor, after Raul Julia. This video made me realize why I love him so much. I should have known that the trickster style of Wonka's re-appearance was his idea. And he's right about how empty movies are when they're nothing but special effects and vulgarity.
gene wilder helped me through a difficult time in my life when i was struggling with candy addiction i was bloated & blue & he saved my life
Umm... watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Gene Wilder. It's a reference to that.

A one of kind actor who truly deserves special recognition for his work.

He's being polite for the sake of the interviewer/audience. He was being sincere vs acting in one of those classic Richard Pryor flicks.
Well that's acting. That's like saying "weird how much he dislikes murder, yet he murdered a guy in that one movie"
We need this kind of decency so badly in the media and culture in general nowadays...

That EKG strip actually represents a true STEMI (heart attack). Nice work Blank on Blank.
Resident Doc Patrick Smith is on the case.
***** ...and I'll bet he thought nobody would notice :)
hope that makes up for the guitar chords i invented on kurt cobain.
Patrick Smith What's more important Doc, getting the chords right or getting the EKG interpretation right? You're still a winner in my book.
