This is the best “behind the scenes” video you all have ever done! I’m saving this one! My favorite run around pen is a tie(sorry) the TWSBI 700 R vac and the clear vac mini . I love the 700R so much I don’t like to take it out for fear of losing it (love rainbows) but the vac mini goes most places with me . I consider these two pens a must for anyone who uses shimmer ink;watching the particles move around and get blended for my writing is a thrill!

As a beginner enthusiast, I have a small collection. I started off with the Pilot Kakuno and recently upgraded to the Pilot Prera. I really like the feel of this pen. The simplicity and elegance of this writing tool feels like an high end fountain pen to me.

The pilot pen PRERA with its MC calligraphy nib is so perfect I carry it in my pocket. My car with a gap in the emergency brake handle, swallowed my PRERA and I just had to replace it. it’s that good.

❤ I love videos like this when I can see people at your company. It looks like such a wonderful place to work. My favorite pens, the ones I keep reaching for, are my Lamy Safaris. I will never have as many as Brian, but my collection keeps growing every time they come out with something new.

Pilot Custom 823 in a medium nib. The most enjoyable experience I've had with a fountain pen. Also I don't like cleaning pens and changing inks so the vac fill and capacity of this pen means I'm good to go for a long while. Mine is from Goulet Pens in the smoke finish and is always filled with Iroshisuku take-sumi. 👌

As an FP collector/user of 30+ years, I have a fairly vast collection. Yet, there’s just something about the humble Pilot Custom 823 that makes it my EDC. It’s a quality, reliable pen, in a sublime amber-demonstrator colour, with a trouble-free vac-fill (my fav mechanism.) Yet it’s not so recognizable or flashy that I have to worry about it becoming a temptation to others. While my multiple MontBlanc Meisterstucks may be considered the pinnacle amongst many collectors, as a user- I hold my Custom 823 as the apex of practicality and pleasure.

A pair of 823s here, M & F (with a F Vanishing Point somewhere in the mix). Almost a three-way tie here, but the M 823 gets the most use.

I confess I’m team Brian… I adore writing with my Lamy2000 with its medium nib combined with Iroshizuku Kon-peki. My little daughter (8years) enjoys the GPC exclusive Lamy Vista Black with a broad nib I ordered for myself. I inked it up with Diamine Meadow, five minutes later she decided it would be hers 🤪… I think I need to order another one to travel from USA back home to Germany. 😁 Love you guys!

The Lamy 2000 (I own three) and the Aion (I have a pair) are actually the only two Lamy pens I really love a lot. The rest I don’t care much about at all. Except the Dialog 3.

I’m starting with the Lamy standard and I’m giving those for Christmas this year. I’m including the proprietary filler and some cool ink to give the whole experience. I did this five years ago with Jinhao pens but that was a disaster as none of them worked. I know, I’m the only one, but I was very sad about that. So this year I’m sticking with a known winner.

It's a small world. My favorite pen, called "The Pen", is a Lamy 2000 with a medium nib permanently filled Iroshizuku Kon-peki. My number two is a 2000 fine with Sailor Manyo Yomigi.

I don’t have an extensive collection of fountain pens but the one that I have now that is my favorite is the Twsbi mini. I have the silver one so any ink looks great in it! I buy a lot of ink samples so I am always using a different color! It writes so smooth and I rarely have a hard start! I love it!

The Pilot Metropolitan in silver with the medium nib is my fave. The pen shape feels really good in my hand and cause no fatigue during long writing sessions. Great ink flow; smooth writing experience. The matte silver finish has a touch classiness and it fits my aesthetic sensibility with its timeless quality. 👍👌Of course, your mileage may vary 😅

Out of my 65 pens, the pen I would NEVER give/sell/lose is my Namiki Falcon soft fine - bought at a going out of business sale for $99! The falcon nib is not duplicated anywhere, except maybe in my vintage Wearever 52. So, Namiki Falcon, boring in black.

After using a lot of fountain pens over the years, I've found Sailor 1911 Large with 23K F nib to be my favourite... there are many worthy competitors, but this one never ever failed me, even with the most "difficult" inks

I'm happy to see recommendations from more people at your company, and to see their faces.
I would say that it's tough to narrow down my choice of favourite pen, since I currently have two pens that I love equally. Those pens are the Lamy 2000 with a broad nib and the TWSBI Vac700r with a fine nib. I enjoy the Lamy 2000 when I want to write larger cursive. The Lamy 2000 also has a very understated appearance when I don't want something flashy. I enjoy the TWSBI Vac700r when I want to write smaller cursive. It is also fun to watch the ink sloshing around in the TWSBI, since it is a demonstrator, which looks cool. Both pens provide a great writing experience, and both have a large ink capacity. I love both equally. 🖋✒

My favourite is my Pilot Custom Urushi in Vermillion with a broad nib. It is perfection and worth every penny. That nib is everything I've been searching for, it's the definition of smooth. I haven't had the itch to buy another pen in months because it's so, so good lol. I use it every day in my planner, a pen like that deserves to be loved and used!

I love that this video featured modest as well as some more expensive pens. For me, the Benu Briolette Luminous Blue and a vintage Esterbrook J series with 9461 nib that I restored myself are my favorite pens. I also have handy a Lamy Al-Star Ocean Blue and a Pilot Varsity. It strikes me that even the cheapest pens today, like the Pilot Varsity, are surprisingly good -- and so are some of the oldest ones, as in my 60-75 year old Esterbook J series which writes amazingly well ever since I added that 9461 nib. I like the feeling of getting a lot of writing mileage without spending an arm and a leg, and I think if I were ever to enter into a buying spree involving increasingly fancy pens I might lose my appreciation for the basic everyday experience of writing with a fountain pen.

  • @Birdnerd1968

My favorite pen is my Pilot Vanishing point. I love how easy it is to change out the nibs. The non golds writes just as beautifully as the gold ones. Plus you don't have to worry about caps or worry about the pen rolling off your desk. I put my Lamy 2000 down and it rolled off the desk right onto the nib and bent it. I wept. I'm still super bummed about it.

  • @ChristopherRosche

Great video and many nice choices. Mine is the Pilot Custom 823 in medium. As a full-time writer, I need a pen that is smooth but not too smooth and carries a lot of ink. With good ink, the lines this pen lays down are amazing! (It doesn't hurt that Neil Gaiman also uses this pen for his daily writing).

I'm not fond of black ink, but the Bronze Age is one of my two favorite pens. The other is the Scribo Feel. Very different pens, but both are wonderful to write with. The Feel may have the most apt name of any pen. It's shaped like no other, and once I got used to it, writes like no other. The Bronze Age and the Feel are my two take everywhere daily writers.

The Diplomat Aero is by far my favorite. I have the steel nib and it is incredibly smooth across the paper. For those that write a lot they may be disappointed with the size of the reservoir, but I love it because I get to change inks often. The weight and feel is perfect in my hand and in general it is a head turner of a pen. The one thing that pushes it over the top for me is the snap of the cap when you close it. So satisfying!

    • @idebk
      @idebk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Agreed ! But the Excellence has a better balance. Diplomat steel nibs are just wonderful & smooth, effortless writers with a wee bit of feedback. Yup,the snap is their trademark, more prominent than the Lamy 2K.

I wrote for a living for thirty years, sometimes up to fourteen hours per day, and ink capacity was never an issue. Filling a pen takes a minute, if that. Just use the pen you love.
I hated the look of the Aero, but then they came out with the burnt orange pen, and I fell in love with it instantly.

Team Benu Briolette! Mine's Luminous Orchid as well, in broad. The colors really suit me and it's so pretty, but the facets and the slope of the barrel are so COMFORTABLE. I'm not sure I've ever had a pen that felt this good in my hand. It handles any ridiculous disco ball ink you want to use like a champ, too.

My favorite favorite is the Pilot Custom 823 with a fine nib. I had already built quite a collection, but I haven’t bought any more pens since I got my Pilot 823 almost two years ago! I have it inked all the time, because I use it for daily journaling. I sometimes wonder how much smaller my collection would be if I had gotten this pen earlier. I do still enjoy my Lamy 2000 and my vintage Pelikan 400 at work and my Pilot 92 is perfect for drawing, but nothing beats the writing experience of the 823.

Speaking of beautiful pens, _man_ ... I wish I could get my hands on one of those Northern Lights Sailor Pro Gear pens. SUCH a looker, and I really hope I'll be able to get one if they come back in stock.

Thanks for the cool video! I love videos where we get to see more of the Goulet team. It's nice getting to see people who aren't customer-facing, too. And I'm always so happy to see new videos from Goulet pens turn up in my notifications.
My favorite is very easily the TWSBI Eco. The nibs are almost always excellent on all of them, but I have one in Lilac with a broad nib that just came writing absolutely perfectly and still writes the best out of all my pens (imo), including more expensive ones. If I could only keep one pen, that would be it.
My second favorite is the Opus 88 Jazz, which I don't think gets enough love, but I prefer it in solid black, which Goulet Pens doesn't carry -- if I was going away for a trip or attending a conference and could only bring one pen, that would be the one.
If Kaweco made the Supra or the AL Sport in copper, that would be a much harder call.

Great video. It’s so great to get to know some of the people at Goulet Pens. It’s a lovely thing to do for the people who work at the company. I think my favourite is the Diplomat Aero. It just feels so sturdy. That thing is built to last. I like the TWSBI 700r. The Iris was amazing. Why haven’t there been more special editions for the 700r. It doesn’t seem to get the same love as the 580 and I think that’s a shame. Don’t get me wrong, the 580 is amazing, but that nib on the 700r is so amazingly bouncy for a steel nib. I just love anything TWSBI really.

Wow Twsbi won the race, with three pens!
I like the Sailor 1911 for the same reason someone mentioned the ProGear the nib is fantastic and gives the best writing experience, plus I prefer a cigar shape so the 1911 is for me. I dream of a 1911 realo to have this large ink capacity, and meanwhile I am content with my "normal" 1911L.

HELL YEAH DREW! Custom 912 FTW! I've ground the tip to a needlepoint and it makes the most amazing calligraphic swoops and swirls and swells.. I absolutely love my 912 and literally use it every single day. Perfect for spencerian and copperplate (though I don't use it much for copperplate honestly).

My favorite is a tie between my transparent green Eco and my trusty all clear Eco T. The former was the first time I got a broad nib and I was surprised by how much I liked it despite having small handwriting. The latter is my workhorse. I fill it with the same ink, Diamine 1864 blue-black, over and over and it writes smooth as glass even on cheap paper thanks to its fine nib. When I’m working on a book it’s my go-to and I’ve not gone back to a Sakura Micron pen since.

Mine is my TWSBI Vac700 Iris as well! I have at least one pen from five of the main pen manufacturers, and a few more expensive than the vac 700, but none write as well or feel as nice in my hand. And that rainbow effect on the metal, including the nib, is just so superior. I love it!!

My favorite pen, if I had to go with one, I like them all, has got to be the Noodler's Konrad. I got mine in Cardinal Darkness, and I love that you can take the pen apart, which makes it easier to clean and change ink color. I currently have it inked with Noodler's BSIAR. Did I mention I'm a sucker for flex nibs?

I have several Pilots, which is the brand I enjoy the most, from the metro all way up to the 823. But the one I find myself going to the most is the Pilot Custom 74. It was my first gold nib, the medium on the gold nib pilots is the perfect medium for me, being a converter pen is less hassle than the 92 and 823 and the con-70 is way better for me than the con-40 on the vanishing points.

Really enjoyed the video. I have a Lamy 2000 Medium, and love the way it writes and brings out the qualities in the ink like the shading and rich colors. I also love that the medium nib is slightly stubbish too. It has so much character. I love running Noodlers Apache Sunset in it, looks like corn candy. My favourite pen is the Montblanc 149 Calligraphy flex pen. The lines from that nib look so vintage like wonderful antiquated script from a 100 years ago. .

Great to see the other pen lovers at Goulet. There are so many pens in my collection, so my mood dictates the pen of the day. At the moment is the Benu Talisman Dragons blood. The fine nib just writes out of the box. Inked with Diamine Red Dragon of course. The other one is FPR's Himalaya V2 with a Flex Fine nib. Inked with Diamine Imperial Purple, which picks out the purple shadow on the light and dark blue pen. The Himalaya just allows me to demonstrate that I can write beautifully when I take the time. Both are beautiful in the hand, have lovely nibs and make me feel good when I use them. BTW I do use other inks than Diamine!

My favourite has to be the Pilot E95S at the moment, though the Twsbi eco and Platiunum Curidas are a close match. I love writing with my Benu Briolette as well, even though it starts on a regular basis (which I hate) and recently discovered the Cross Calais and I'm loving it.

@@anac9313 I don't have the Preppy, it's my first Platinum, but to me it writes quite smoothly, and I like that the clip is where it is, it helps with my grip if that makes sense. Maybe it's because I'm relatively new to fountain pens, but I quite like the Curidas ^^

But my top 6 would include the Pelikan M800, Lamy Aion, Lamy 2000, TWSBI Vac 700, Diplomat Aero, and Sailor Pro Gear. I keep 10 pens inked up and these are almost always in my pen case. I generally like broad nibs because they are very smooth writers. So please, keep ordering new models with Broad nibs! Thanks

Fountain pen that I always bring with me is a TWSBI, either a 580ALR Prussian Blue or ECO White Gold. Both are just so reliable, I could leave inks in there for months and it would just write as soon as it touch paper with no issues at all. As for the one that I enjoy a lot but mostly only at home are my Pilot Capless/VPs. I do love writing with them so much, shame the ink capacity is bit on smaller side.

Pilot 823 with an FA nib is my absolute favorite pen. The 823 has a gorgeous, large gold #15 nib with the FA size/style being extremely soft and flexy going from a true extra fine to BBB with ease To top it off, the ink capacity is comparable to a Vac 700 which comes in handy with all that flexy ink dumpage going on. Its all about the nib and ink capacity for me. The all clear demonstrator version I have also makes it quite attractive!

My favorite, without question, is the Edison Beaumont Fireball! In fact, this video inspired me to finally write a review for it on your site! Brian K helped me out with the Beaumont, and it has become the only pen I use for long writing sessions and almost the only pen I use at all anymore. The size and proportions are so ideal, and now that it's an eyedropper I can go for weeks without worrying about cleaning and refilling it.
Also -- I LOVE this video! So much fun! I'm so surprised to hear your choice, Drew! I thought you didn't get along with the 912 -- I guess you adding the ebonite feed helped a lot then? And how did you get Brian to actually pick one pen? It's terrific to hear from the other team members. It's so much fun. Y'all rock

Mine is the Sailor 1911 Pro Gear with the 21k nib. It is so buttery-smooth, looks great and feels substantial in the hand. I love my TWSBI Eco for convenience, and the nib on the Aurora Ypsilon is to die for. But for the whole package coming together in something as close to perfection as possible on my budget, it's the Pro Gear all the way.

Ditto on the Sailor Pro Gear! I splurged at the pen show. First time with a zoom nib -- not completely crazy about the BBB width if I have the angle too low, but smooth as ice (note: post Zamboni)!
And yes on the TWSBI ECO -- best inexpensive pen ever, and a great stub nib.

I really enjoyed this video. It's always interesting to see what other people like, and why. My favorite pen (I have 48 listed in my pen log) is a Mont Blanc, Chopin I purchased in 2003 at Herrods, while on a lay-over at Heathrow Airport in London, on a return trip from Africa. Several reasons: First, I had waited ever since I was a high school student for a Mont Blanc pen, primarily because I liked the look of the two-toned nib, and this was my first Mont Blanc (I later also bought a 146). Second, because Chopin is my favorite piano composer, and the Mont Blanc, Chopin came boxed with a CD of his two piano concertos. Third, because it is a memento of that particular overseas trip. And fourth, because I sent it to Richard Binder and had the nib tweaked to a 0.4 mm Cursive Italic. Even though I have purchased several other really nice pens over the years, this is still my favorite, and I have literally used it every day now for 19 years, and it's still going strong! Thanks again for the great video!

At this time moved the Lamy 2k to the Pilot Custom 823. It’s smother than the Custom 74, feels comfortable in my hands, no need for a death grip and with the wells closed I can leave it uncapped at my desk throughout the day. Amber color is amazing.
