Finally a video thats more than “I was today years old when i found out there was a removable crumb tray”. THANK YOU for tips to actually clean the stuck crumbs and seeds that missed the tray and won’t shake out
Thank you for this video. I was halfway there, but didn’t know how to do the rest of it. Thank you for the straw and the vacuum cleaner and the chopstick methods. 👍
Beware when using the straw on the vacuum attachment, as this could cause your motor to burn out as it is working harder to get suction through a smaller tube. This happened to me, my vacuum overheated and turned itself off but luckily I was able to get it working again after waiting a spell.
Before watching this video I did almost all the steps including using the chopsticks and the toothbrush, but didn't know the vacuum trick. But my toaster didn't work afterwards. According to the user manual of that same manufacturer you shouldn't do any of this! Even not turning the toaster upside down to remove the crumbs. They just want it to be rotten with bread remains without giving any useful information about cleaning it properly or supply tools to do so!
They just want us to keep buying new ones. Again and again. I'm sorry your toaster stopped working. You likely hit the heating element with the vacuum. I should have emphasized in the video that you need to be especially careful around the heating grid.
The straw and vacuum is genius, thanks! I've been using canned air on the inside. That works if you do it regularly, but waiting too long doesn't remove all of it so this was good.
Dug a toaster from the 1960s out of my Nan's shed.. Unfortunately there's no removeable tray but I managed to use these tricks to clean it up quite well so thank you :> On another slightly ranty note, how do yall complain about toasters breaking..? This thing's been used for decades and It makes toasts better than our newer one 😭
Oh, it's the same for me. I don't bother and just toast my bread as is. But every now and then, I get a bout of perfectionism 🙃. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Nice and complete. A bit finicky. Seems like there ought to be able to make a toaster you could just flop open or that you could slide out parts for cleaning. I suppose if you could use a heat plate instead of wires, you could pull out the plates. Probably longer to heat up though. There are some range of household fixtures and appliances that one thinks should be redesigned.
@ghandimauler Toaster manufacturers seem to believe that the ability to buy a new toaster for as little as $10 should eliminate our desire to clean it simply and effectively. The entire evolution of toasters over decades of production has resulted in the addition of a crumb tray. And that's it. It's sad.
@noogman Mine is in its fifth year and still going strong. Thank you for sharing your experience. Indeed, we should exercise maximum caution around the heating element area.
A great video and I got lots of great ideas but I would NEVER own a toaster that is so hard to clean. What happened to the old fashioned ones. So easy to clean! I acquired a 4 slice black Cuisinart and hated it On sight. I have a white 2 slice toaster $12.98 and its a dream! Go Figure! Thanks again for all the clever tricks.
It's difficult for me to answer your question, I don't know anything about its toxicity. But looking at it from another side, using compressed air for cleaning pushes dirt, dust particles, and lots of burnt crumbs from the toaster bottom into the air we breathe. That's definitely not healthy.
When toasters used to cost me $9.99 at Walmart or given as gifts from Casino. I would just give it away and buy another one or use one of the free gifts I’d get. However now that toasters cost $50 and over, I’m a lot more diligent in cleaning it myself!😅
I used 96% ethyl alcohol from a pharmacy. It evaporates instantly and doesn't leave any smell even on the toaster surface; the bread will also not have any taste of alcohol.
I would recommend getting a new, cheap toothbrush if you're going to do this, rather than using an old one and introducing mouth bacteria into your toaster.
After spending about an hour, cleaning my toaster and it’s setting off the fire alarm about three different times. I just decided to throw it away and buy another one considering I only spent $10 on it and my time is worth more than $10 an hour. 😂
If it’s smoking so bad it’s setting off the fire alarm obviously it’s not in proper working condition. Why would I give it to someone else for them to have their smoke detectors go off? You’re more than welcome to have it. I’ll mail it to you….
By old toothbrush I understand an used one. If so, I do not like the idea of having something that was in someone's mouth for months to be used to clean an appliance on which food is prepared... Maybe it is just me 🤷🏻♀️
@chuckg6846 Ahh, in that sense. The idea of using an old toothbrush, as in a used one, doesn't bother me much if I sterilize it by boiling it in water for a few minutes. Reusing and all that... However, I'm not insisting on it in any way, and understand your concern.

Same here, I've been using mine for years though not regularly😅
@ravenpoe7093 Thanks so much for your lovely comment. Very pleased I could help.
Same, here, i never knew there was a tray hiding 😳 😅

Thank you so much! Your comment is inspiring 🤗
This video helps me to not be as intimidated about cleaning my toaster now. Thank you soooo much 😊
Thanks a lot! Really pleased you are enjoying it 🤗
finally someone shows me how to clean the bottom Thank you, Thank you
Thanks 🤗 happy to help
Best cleaning tutorial ever. 👏👏👏
Thanks, that's lovely to hear 😊
THANK YOU! You just made an impossible seeming task easy.
You're very welcome! I'm glad I could make it easier for you.

Good info. I'll leave an opening in the tape so the motor doesn't work as hard.
@bl8danjil Although I haven't encountered engine overheating, it's a good idea, thanks for sharing.

Thank you for making this video! Very helpful.
My pleasure!
This was so thorough and just what I needed! Thank you! I inherited a toaster that's never been cleaned 😂
Thanks a lot, really awesome to hear that! Your toaster has every chance of looking like brand new 🤞
This is absolutely brilliant, thank you for this tutorial!!😊
Happy to hear that 🤗, thanks a lot!

Handy video. The vacuum trick is really good.
Thanks so much, glad you found it useful.

Thank you for this video! Greetings from Switzerland
My pleasure!
Very nicely done- I learned something!
Thanks! I'm glad you found it helpful.
Great video, thank you.
My pleasure!
Rather buy a new toaster or watch paint dry😂😂❤ 2:49
Great video, but I will probably just buy a new one and dump the old one 😂
Thanks a lot, I totally understand 😅
wooaw, really deep clean.👌
Thank you so much for this video
My pleasure, thank you for stopping by
Great job ! Nicely done, but that's too much work for me lol What else can I get to toast my bread 🤔

They have "toaster ovens," that are much easier to clean, that do the toasting sideways on a tray. Otherwise they are a pain in the butt to clean.
Yes! Same for sandwich presses!

thanks for tips it game an idea to use reuseble maskara brushes u can bend them it works great
By the way, yes 👍 I've got just a few of those. Thanks for another great idea!
Problems I have run into when cleaning the inside of toaster is that the heating elements start breaking or get dislodged after a few cleanings.
This is my problem now that's why I went here. OMG.. 😭
@noogman Mine is in its fifth year and still going strong. Thank you for sharing your experience. Indeed, we should exercise maximum caution around the heating element area.
Perfect, great job.
Thanks 🤗

Thanks a lot! You're right, we would all like simpler toaster cleaning solutions 🥺
Would it be safe to use a compressed air can to blow away the crumbs? Or is the compressed air toxic?
It's difficult for me to answer your question, I don't know anything about its toxicity. But looking at it from another side, using compressed air for cleaning pushes dirt, dust particles, and lots of burnt crumbs from the toaster bottom into the air we breathe. That's definitely not healthy.

Good luck to us in this challenging pastime 😂
Does it "taste " alcohol after that, i mean the bread won't smell products we used?
I used 96% ethyl alcohol from a pharmacy. It evaporates instantly and doesn't leave any smell even on the toaster surface; the bread will also not have any taste of alcohol.
Oh how I wish I had seen this video first..! 😞
How often should u clean toaster?
I use the toaster every day and probably should clean it more often. But my laziness doesn't allow me to do it more than once a year 🤫
I would recommend getting a new, cheap toothbrush if you're going to do this, rather than using an old one and introducing mouth bacteria into your toaster.
I always keep extra from dollar tree!
@janebingum-the-just They definitely won't be able to survive at this point 3:12
What can I use other than an old toothbrush? I only have 1 :(
Get a cheap toothbrush at the dollar store for cleaning.
@@bl8388 Hmm.... I'll have to check if we have one of those in my town. Thank you tho, that's a good idea!
Nice

This is also an option, why not... 😉
mache ich genauso- hasse putzen und dann diese ganze Kleinarbeit
That's so wasteful! It's better to give it away if it's still in working condition.

Very it is deep cleaning
Something like that 😉
Thanks for this info. I may not do all of it, but I will use some of these tips😊
@@SmoothRider Great! You’re welcome 🤗 Thank you for your comment.
Why does the toaster have to be so complicated to clean
it didn't work i couldn't get the vacuum to suck up enough...
Well... I don’t even know, have your crumbs already turned to stones?

how stupid that no one has invented a toaster that's easy to clean - is this a joke!
💯
Fr

@frozen_ntime Your tips are invaluable 🙃 but thanks, I still like the old one. And there's still some masking tape in my storage closet
This feels like surgery. No thanks
Use an old toothbrush?? That is disgusting 🤢
Why? What's wrong? 🤷🏼♀️
