There is no Witcher without Geralt of Rivia. When danger looms and the line between man and monster blurs, there is only one who stands resolute: Geralt of Rivia. A masterful hunter and a protector of the innocent, he embodies the strength and wisdom needed in the darkest hours. Without him, the Witcher world would falter, for only Geralt possesses the courage and skill to face what others cannot.
Along ancient hedgerows, beneath breathing clouds, above villages of fungi, the fledgling Witcher walked her long and lonely exile. The primal savagery of man stalked her as she entered those rural taverns in quest for food and bed. Such was the curse brought upon the land - a curse laden with chaotic turmoil coiled in the hearts of men. This corruption had not always prevailed - the girl remembered a time when these men were young and proud, striving toward good, rivalling their friends in playful pursuit, loving their families with golden gifts of the land's summer-fat bounties when the smell of cherry resin spilled forth. But the curse had cast its shadow over those familiar faces so that they were hardly recognisable; Their faces contorted in the flickering firelight, untouched by the warmth of daylight and unmoved by the gentleness of lovers. The young Heiress would press forth through the country, fighting off the curse as it tormented her in the guise of love and affection, honesty and integrity. And so she found the fury in her Heart. Had it always been there, or was it bestowed within her lungs for this trial alone, she did not know. What she did know, however, was that this newly found voice, a crippling scream, had the power to extinguish this darkness and bring forth that old and trusted ally she called Light.
