    If I didn't hear Ms. Whitney White aka Naptural85 when she pulled out that bottle! As a matter of fact, Nap85 has always broken down why she uses the ingredients (health benefits) in her DIY hair product recipes, the products she purchased, and now the products she makes! I'm still trying to convince my nieces that they need to use satin or silk pillowcases. Pattern Beauty is following all the other hair care products created by natural hair gurus that came first. She's the bigger name, but The Black Hair Community and natural hair gurus had to set her straight. (She started off wrong by using the definite no-nos for black and curly hair. Read your labels, curlfriends!) The Black Hair Community has served me well since the mid-2000s and they are still resonating on a larger scale even if they're not in the forefront. I'm loving this! Great tips!

      I so agree with you. If the Tamron Hall show producers would have dug deeper and done their social media homework, they would have found the queen of natural hair for TH-cam and other social media platforms, Naptural85 or her real name Ms. Whitney White. I love her Melanin products since it launched. My daughter and I have followed Naptural85 since before she had a family. If anyone's products should be on a television show where the topic is about black hair care, it is Melanin products. It's easy to take a product or any business model and make it your own, especially when you have the means to do so. Traci products are probably excellent, but she is a Hollywood product that has the all-around capital and her mom's name to get her products pushed out faster and into the major name brand store where people shop. I love Traci, and not taking anything away from her hard work or any other entrepreneur before, during, or after, but it's easier for other celebrities to push another celebrities' products to the wider demographic. How about doing some research and asked our YT family, who kills the Natural Hair Care game? We going to tell you NAPTURAL85!

      @@tanfel4 You better say it! Whitney and others like her have done all the experimenting with products both DIY and purchased. They have shared all the do's and don'ts. They have invested their own money into these brands they have created. Based on her RESEARCH, trial and error, and taking her time (five-plus years) to properly design and perfect products that she believes in, that she uses herself long before she shares it because she truly cares about her followers and the struggle we all face with having representation and products that ACTUALLY WORK FOR US. She wasn't doing it for the money. I respect her for that. I love me some Traci, too, but I'm disappointed that she's getting the glory over the OGs. I respect her natural hair triumphs and failures, but she just jumped in to capture some of that capital like so many of the brands who never catered to us in the first place. This movement has been going on for more than a decade. These women have started from the bottom and/or in their kitchens while managing day-to-day life struggles (for those who have families to raise). Whitney, Camille Rose, Kim Love (creator of luvnaturals), Julissa Prado (Rizzo's Curls), and so many others have paved the way. Just give credit where credit is due. Let them shine and stop stealing their glow-up.

      Hello Dear. I hope you and your family are well? What do you think of Mielle Organics products?

    • @lyric1320
      @lyric1320 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, I love Whitney. I have watched her journey over 12+yrs now. She always explained the benefits of every essential oil, food items, etc...she added to her DIY hair treatments. Read my comment above...the segment didn't really explain ANTHING other than putting some darn shampoo in an applicator bottle to use.

      @@Mrs-O Hello, Mrs. O! Thank you! I hope you and yours are, too! I haven't really tried Mielle, but if you go to Bianca Renee Today, the curliest of curlfriends who has her curl sisters' backs, she has a video with an entire list of products she endorses and explains why. (She also has a list of products she tells her viewers to avoid because the creators of said items have no love for the overall effect on curly hair with those.) What I can say is that Mielle Organics IS on her favorites list.

    In this short clip she talked about what to use as a quality pre-poo.
    She mentioned scalp massages.
    She mentioned washing at least twice a month. As well as making sure that you seriously clean your scalp.
    *I just was telling my friend about the importance of doing an ACV cleanse on my scalp,. It helps with pH balance and health as well as excessive product buildup.

    Ok, she didn't talk about how to use the items on the tray. How do you prepare them? How do you apply them? She also should have DEFINITELY pointed out that when using Aloe Vera plant you have to blend the flesh of the plant well then STRAIN all the chunks out COMPLETELY b4 applying to hair ..if not you can't get it out your hair..you will have to cut your hair or shave your head if it gets all throughout your hair strains. The segment was not long enough for her to explain in details true scalp treatments. She only talked about putting some darn shampoo in a darn application bottle and applying it to the scalp b4 adding the water to wash your hair?????????...HELLO???...WHAT THE HELL DID THAT LEAVE THE AUDIENCE WITH?????

    • @LatashaTrueHeart
      @LatashaTrueHeart 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's definitely hard to get out of your hair, but I don't think you have to cut it to remove it! LMBO!!!!

      The shampoo bit made sense to me as I've heard it before and you can get a bottle with a narrow nozzle in any beauty supply store. But you were right about the first part. Like was she talking oils or using the actual vegetables?

    • @LatashaTrueHeart
      @LatashaTrueHeart 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nancykerrigan I hope your leg made a full recovery. Sorry about what happened back then. As for the fruit and vegetables, she means essential oils and carrier oils. Lavender, orange, lemon, eucalyptus, tea tree, and peppermint are all essential oils with lots of benefits for skin, scalp, and hair. Check out Whitney White a/k/a Naptural85's channel for her DIY hair and body oil. She uses some of those and describes in detail the health benefits of each (including antimicrobial, antifungal, growth, circulation, dandruff, etc.). They need to be used with carrier oils such as avocado oil, olive oil, almond oil, JOJOBA OIL (closest to our body's natural oils), etc. due to their potency. (You can also search for benefits of essential oils for [natural] hair.)
      Aloe Vera is a good pre-poo conditioner. There's a tutorial or two about that on Naptural85's channel, too. I've tried it and it made my hair so Gucci Mane!!! Shea Butter helps retain moisture as a sealant. Use water, the leave-in, oil (optional) and/or shea butter to seal it in the moisture. You can also use oils as a pre-poo to detangle your hair or as a hot oil treatment before you shampoo and condition. (You can add the oil to your conditioner then apply if you like.) It helps ease the knots away. There are tutorials on there for those as well. Consuming these foods helps with hair health and growth. Veggies are great for hair, skin, and nails. Bananas and avocados are excellent for moisturizing your hair and melting away tangles. You'd be amazed at how your hair responds to that mixture. She's got tutorials for those, as well. lol
      Most natural hair gurus are aware of these and will hit on all these points in their tutorials. Whitney has hair texture similar to mine so much of what learned from here works for me! I recommend learning your hair's texture, type, and porosity to find the right products to work for you. My hair is tightly coiled and drinks moisture so I need heavier oils and thicker creams for my hair. If you have thinner hair with looser curls, you might do better with lighter oils (i.e., coconut), mousse, and creams.
      Bianca Renee of Bianca Renee Today is the Curly Girl's Bestest Friend because she ain't gon' let you buy the products that will kill your hair or lie to you about the benefits or disaster waiting to happen. She's a staple on my subscriptions. She does detailed hair care tutorials and tests trends, techniques, etc. so we don't have to endure the pitfalls. (All the really good gurus care enough to share the truth about their experiences and knowledge so their viewers have a reliable, educational, relatable resource to care for their own hair.) I also like Jessica Lewis of Mahogany Curls... she's a GOAT on twist-outs, length, and wash-n-go's. In fact, all three of these ladies are and they're in my Top 5! Find someone who has hair similar hair and/or experiences to yours. Check out their tutorials, try them out and see what works for you.
      I hope that helps! Good luck!

      @@nancykerrigan Oh yeah... and the shampooing your scalp first and then cleansing your hair is a thing. You can mist or dampen your roots and then add the shampoo to your scalp outside of the shower, then get in the shower to lather and rinse your scalp and hair. You waste less shampoo and have a more effective cleanse. There's even a tutorial for that on Naptural85's channel.

    Trichology - study of hair and scalp. A para-medical discipline.
    You can work with them in partnership with a good dermatologist. Rock with YT if you want a good twist out, but for hair and scalp problems go see a medical professional.

    I'm surprised she thinks *_"NO ONE"_* knows what a Trichologist is. Have these Ladies not been around or on Social Media? Many people know what a Trichologist is. A pre-treatment and Hot Oil treatment is Old School. Nothing new. All these Tips are good but very Old School. Next time spend more time on what to do with all the ingredients and Do's & Don'ts. This was too brief.
