    Since I quit Twitter, Fb and Instagram TH-cam has been super helpful for fullfill some time, but I recognize that TH-cam can be harmful too, especially when we fall in a spiral of recomended videos and lost a lot of time in it...

      That makes sense. I usually search for what I'm looking for, but I can see how binge watching the suggested videos could be a bad idea.

      As an older adult who lived without social media in my early adulthood and internet as a teen and young adult I can safely say I would be fine without it since, well, I have memory of life before. With that said it IS difficult since I want to share with others but I don’t have friends. Like you said social media is superficial. Because of the pandemic I cannot be in public so serving others is out right now. (My dr has strict orders for me to be isolated) Any other ideas? I don’t have my own family (siblings or parents) to call I do have adult kids and my husbands family. I made a pact with myself though to only call those who also reach out to me as well. So calling my kids will be it for me. I have hope that I will be able to get out again one day and volunteer.

      Agree. Plus with TH-cam I don’t watch it everyday as sometimes when I go onto the app and go on my subscriptions and when I don’t see new interesting videos I close it and just go out with friends or take a walk and enjoy life.

    What to do:
    1. Set Barrier for triggers.
    2. Focus on Day by Day. Make the decision each day.
    3. Set Goals. Where do I see myself in 5-10 Years from now?
    4. Strengthen relationships. Humans crave connections.
    5. Try new hobbies or activities.
    6. Serve others.
    7. Constantly Feed Yourself.

    Isn't it a little sad? That we get so entangled in social media that when we don't have it we ask ourselves " but what should I do then?" When in reality there's infinite possibilities! I find myself in this same spot again, I tried to quit before but came back and I'm trying again, I deleted everything because I realised I never liked it in the first place, it was kinda fun when I was a teen but now it doesn't makes sense to me anymore, I just don't feel the need to share my life with anyone besides people that are really close to me. Anyways, great video! I have been procrastinating on yt still but I'm trying to break free from all of this and actually spend my time living.

      same with your thoughts.. I keep coming back but the excitement of using social media is no more or lesser now. Kinda hard to stay away from YT but hoping soon to remove it too. Keep up!

    Yesterday I decided to quit social media and deleted it. I hope it's a good step towards a better balanced life.

    I want to quit social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. I too want to continue using TH-cam because I love it.

    I spent 1 year free of instagram and I have made a very slow comeback to what I used to do. Now I do the same I did when I decided that I needed to deactivate my account. I thought I was more able to control my consumption of instagram but it has gotten out of hand again. 🙄 For me it's boredom even though I have millions of things to do. It is the procastination!😫

    Thanks for all the tips. This was very relatable. Sometimes I remember the time before I had social media and miss it. I was so much more careless of what others thought, had no worries about what I was "missing out" on and just lived in the moment. Since I quit FB and Instagram (although I never used the latter much) I have resumed running again, playing guitar, writing and getting published, and going to church. Of course the pandemic affected the latter mostly but now that I'm able to do it again I realize how important it was to me spiritually. Quitting has also helped decrease my anxiety and I now feel happier around people as opposed to thinking that a social life is the opposite of a regular life. I can't even imagine going back to social media. Life happens when you are face to face with someone, not facing pixels on a screen.

      Still struggling with youtube though, which is starting to have the same negative effect if I don't set clear boundaries.

    TH-cam is the most addictive waste of time to me. I have no problem staying off of FB, Twitter, insta, TikTok, etc. TH-cam is the problem, and I know I'm not alone on this, far from.

      Yes, it definitely has that potential. They are all designed to be addictive. It’s awesome that you know what “is” and “isn’t” considered a waste of time for you.

    Hey i just wanna say I've been binge watching ur vids ever since I've found your channel! It's been helping me so sooo much! Ty for inspiring me for finally deleting my social media, last year i took several breaks from it and those were the best months, anxiety was gone. But for the boredom and fear of losing friends i came back thinking I'd have more control on it but weeks later all anxiety and depression were back. But this year i finally feel ready to adopt a minimalist lifestyle, live slower and be more present in the moment. I hope you keep up the good work! Looking forward to your next vids. God bless!

    PRACRTICE NEW HABITS THAT WILL MAKE U BETTER VERSION OF YOURSELF TOMORROW THAN U ARE TODAY
    **THE ONLY PERSON U SHOULD TRY TO BE BETTER THAN, IS THE PERSON THAT U WERE YESTERDAY**
    DO IT FOR YOU
    1. set barriers for triggers
    triggers can be such as fear of missing out
    2.focus on day by day. make decisions each day
    tell yourself today i will choose to spend time w family
    today i will focus on that project rather than thinking the whole year
    3.Set GOALS for myself. where do i want to see myself in 5-10 yrs from now?
    then break down into monthly and weekly
    4.strengthen ur relationships
    call ppl more often rather than texting
    5.try new hobbies /places/try meeting new people /try new things
    replace old habit with new one
    like social media with gym
    our brain ages the moment we stop learning
    6. serve others
    other ppl are going in worser situations than i am
    7.practice more gratitude
    list things that u are grateful for
    sees oportunitis rather than problems
    8.FEED YOURSELF
    cook, excersise, eat healthier, journal, read
    fill my mind with postitivity
    stay less with negative people

    Hello again Yesi, thank you the video, I'm trying to read more books, walking more and writing more often. I need to quit Instagram and Facebook, I will try to forget about it because no one wants to talk to me. On Facebook people only care about themselves, they only send me those requests for Games and when they text me they are asking me something, I feel like I'm wasting my time and energy with Social Media, I just need to find a way to stop use them for good.

      Those are great things to focus on. Maybe it would help if you deleted the accounts and removed them from all your devices if the temptation is too much.

      @@YesiIbarra I just tried to delete my Instagram account but it only says "deactivate temporally account", maybe I'm doing something wrong, I'm going to stop Log In on Instagram even if the account is active. Now I just need to stay away from Facebook (I have to be strong). I also stopped caring about Video Games, I can't believe I wasted too much time and money with that. By the way, congrats on being a mom.

    Thank you so much for your kindness and very good advice 🙏. I am 35 years old and want to quit social media( Facebook, Instagram ) and very addicited to it. I want to change my life. I feel so much more sad, and more social anxiety after been on it for the last 10 years. It's very sad . I will reach the goal 💪. Any more good advices to replace it . Excerise, Go to Concerts, call Pepole, meet people, learning more instruments, study music etc? Can't wait hear from you ♥️🙏🤗

      Breaking negative habits can be very difficult, but it’s important to avoid your triggers all together. Phones tend to be the biggest culprits. I have a separate video that I hope may be helpful for you. It’s titled: How to break your smartphone addiction.
      Adding more positive habits will be super useful so you don’t feel like you’re missing out on anything.
      But overall, be kind to yourself. It took time to build the habit. It will take time to overcome it. You CAN do it!! 🙏

    I know it stupid to say but after quitting all social media even i have ig and twt i Actually don't open them at all but you can also play games new books or news on apps then also comics and even ig and twt have comics then learn a language with app . Or you should just stop using your phone more . Just quitting social media can't help much u have to control that u can start with ur phone . (^^)

      That's actually a great point. Some people have Facebook only, for business for example, and they find good balance. I think it all comes down to what brings balance to our lives.
