Road trip on the newly refurbished Touristic Road from Santiago to Puerto Plata....

Take a journey with us on the very beautiful touristic road (Carretera Turistico) that runs from Santiago to Puerto Plata. This is a key route from Santiago airport to the north coast region which will save you time, in addition to giving you a taste of just how beautiful the Dominican Republic really is. The road itself has been in a very bad state of repair for many years and has now been restored back to its former glory (except this time even better).
This has to be one of the most historical roads in the Dominican Republic, it is home to the Amber mines (of Jurassic Park fame), it is a renowned coffee growing region and it’s mountains and foothills bear witness to the final chapter in the lives of the Mirabel sisters • Who were Las Mariposas...
Small villages and countryside stores line the highway and there are many fruit & florist stands along the way. This is a great opportunity buy some of the delicious organic fruits available from this region at incredible prices, you'll also be helping to support the local community at the same time.
