  • In this episode of Inspired Evolution, we are inspired by Gelong Thubten, a celebrated global expert on Mindfulness & Tibetan Meditation. In the episode of the Inspired Evolution, we explore Thubten’s journey to meditation. This is an especially surprising story as growing up he wasn’t really interested in meditation. In fact, he recounts that in his late teens he was actually quite wild, living the party lifestyle as an actor living in New-York. Burning the candle at both ends as he put it.
    He was at Kagyu Samye Ling only 3 days before he become ordained as a monk. The commitment was initially for a full 12-months. However, as it would turn out, once he was there for 9 months he decided to commit to staying for longer. In his second year, he did his first 9-month isolated retreat. It was here that he decided to commit to monk-hood. A powerful decision yet an obvious one: to best serve himself and humanity. His decision being powered by the desire to live outside of his ego, which he identified as being unhealthy. Driven by compassion, he ended up taking life-vows committing to monk-hood and this way of life, for life. He joyfully remarks that his friends at this point though he’d lost the plot and that he was lucky that his family supported his decision. He’s now been a monk for over 25 years since he was 21 years old, on a life-long journey now towards perpetual growth and learning.
    In this conversation, we talk about keeping mindfulness “now”, updated and modern. Specifically, how Thubten keeps mindfulness relevant for the 21st century and today’s society. How his unique approach blends ancient wisdom with modern challenges. Both Thubten and I are thrilled that neuroscience now complements ancient wisdom.
    Thubten describes his passions to help people, not from a place of wanting to spread Buddhist philosophy, but to simply help people meditate and transform their minds. He started by supporting local prisons 25 years ago with mindfulness and meditation programs. Introducing mindfulness in a very pragmatic and needed situation.
    This conversation then deeply explores the theme and challenges of forgiveness and letting go. Thubten remarks that with the stresses of current society forgive is a hot topic and he shares his consultative approaches to forgiveness. Wisely, in this conversation, he eloquently describes how the process of forgiving others is the same as forgiving ourselves. He also remarks that on an international level as we’re increasingly more connected and there’s always dreadful news shared via mainstream media, it can be challenging to let go of transgressions and embrace forgiveness. He reminds us that it is consistently in our best interests to forgive in order to let go of the burden of toxic-rage and anger.
    A mindful perspective arriving when we surrender our ego and realize such global thoughts patterns such as “hurt people hurt people”. Implying that we are only inflicted upon by people because of their own sadness, anger, and ego. People act out of their own inner impulses and negativities, rarely, if-ever is they out to get another person, people merely end up in each other’s way perhaps more due to circumstance than anything else.
    Whilst he’s definitely not advocating becoming a human door-mat, Thubten’s invitation is to accept the human condition. Softening the edges of the blame.
    Thubten invites us to continually live from the heart, with Love and Compassion. Modern approaches to mindfulness (and focussing on the breath) run the risk of not going deep enough (beyond scratching the surface with stress-management and achieving clarity/performance benefits). Mindfulness can really lead to greater happiness and an increased sense of purpose if you embrace it.
    He believes that as the stress around the world is becoming increasingly more pronounced and diverse, the solution - meditation and mindfulness is also becoming ever more apparent, accessible and widespread.
    We discuss the importance of mindfulness and meditation and all the ways that Gelong Thubten is actively promoting this work. Introducing his new Samten App (Meditation and Mindfulness Journey in an app). Resulting in the widespread promotion of meditation and mindfulness across the planet.
    This conversation is one for the heart. It calls on us to live our most purposeful life, by being compassionate and living beyond our ideas of Self. Thubten’s story invites us to transform and cultivate a positive relationship with ourselves. In this conversation, we explore Gelong Thubten’s wisdom, habits, hacks, philosophies, and tools that have formed the threads of his success, happiness, health, and wealth. This is a story that reminds us that we are all here to live peacefully and content. Thubten inspires a life of healing, transformation, and growth. Life is a gift and it is up to us to honor it as best we can with our positive virtues greater than our self.

    I’m crazy about Gelong Thubten and his talks! The wisdom he shares is so accessible to lay people. I am very fond of the way he is in touch with the experiences much of humanity are going through. I find that many bhikkus and nuns don’t share their personal experience as much. They’re just like yea let go of it. What do you think?
    The way that Gelong Thubten shares his personal experiences - the highs and lows and the transformation is becoming essential to me as a regular practitioner whose experienced a lot of mental transformation from PTSD to PTG. It’s been a rollercoaster of experiences and the mental state I find myself in now is so very different to where I was before that it’s become almost eerie. I’ve shared it with my own Bhikku but the way he approaches the subject is nonchalant, as though ruminating on it shouldn’t be done. Perhaps I am ruminating but I’m also extremely curious and interested in discussing it with others who’ve been through it.

    Buddha bless you Gelong Hubten, Right, as Buddhist,myself I understand that no need to try to convert others into Buddhism, because it depends on affinity. Buddhism is totally on goodwill , true good intentions in our heart and mind. Not superficial, not outward show, no hypocrisy.
    Many people believe that Buddhism is only a philosophy, and had commented that there is no spiritual dimension, and Buddha don't exists anymore. That is a wrong concept, because Buddha's holy spirit is still around to bless n help people.
    I'm one of the person can witness that, because at the age of five, I was literally saved from a deadly fall by Buddha Avelokitisvara. That was really a miraculous moment I will never forget.
    A family friend was saved from drowning by Buddha, when he was very Young. Till today he still talk about the day how Buddha had smiled and lifted him from the pool.

    Re Gelong Thubten
    A very excellent demonstration how we can feel better. Make Your daily meditation. Motivate Yourself with the help of an affirmation. Body poster, relax shoulder, how You sit...Breath...and going back with Your exercise.
    The goal is Compassion, Love and Happiness.
    TM ( Transcendental Meditation ) is the next step to be connected with the
    higher consciousness, the quantum field, the unified field, the unmanifested field, your higher self - the matrix. Very interesting by the way is to practice NLP. Superlearning, speed reading, listening, memorizing is helping to understand better how the brain really works.

    Find True Peace In Jesus Christ
    What does it take to be Saved?
    Faith in Christ’s Finished Work on the Cross
    The Cost of Sin
    Romans 6:23
    For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
    HELL IS A REAL LOCATION
    Luke 12:4-5
    And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
    But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
    Matthew 25:51
    And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
    Are we all Sinners in NEED of a Saviour?
    Romans 3:10-12
    As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
    There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
    They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
    Romans 3:23-26
    For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
    Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
    To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
    What specifically to Believe in!!
    1 Timothy 2:4-6
    Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
    For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
    Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
    1 Corinthians 15:1-4
    Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
    By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
    For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
    And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose again according to the scriptures so you can be free from Hell and Death. This is the greatest gift God gave us. By having faith in the Gospel you are sealed with the Holy Spirit forever and SAVED from that moment to eternity.
    Galatians 1:11-12
    11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
    12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
    Heaven or Hell?
    It’s Your Choice
    A PRAYER FOR SALVATION THROUGH FAITH
    “I know that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe that Christ died for my sins and rose three days later from the grave. Thank you for forgiving my sin on the cross. You alone Jesus is now why I have forgiveness and eternal life. Thank you in Jesus name. Amen.”
    If you have prayed this with faith (Wholeheartedly) you are Forgiven and now in the Body of Christ.
    Welcome brother or sister. Remember saying a prayer does not save you, having Faith does in Jesus and what He did for you.
    What if I continue to Sin?
    What if I stop having Faith?
    What if 5 years after being saved I have an affair?
    What if I aborted my child 1 year after I was saved?
    What about suicide?
    When you first had faith in Christ you were sealed and secured from that day forward, no matter what you do or don’t do our saviour has saved your soul and made you a new creation. Remember it Gods Work that saved you not Yours.
    Eternal Security ( 100% Going to Heaven)
    Ephesians 2:8-9
    For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
    Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    Titus 3:5
    Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
    Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
    That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
    God Bless You

    Even though the host is little over-the-top in his reactions, at least he is sincere and thoughtful. And he asks meaningful, intelligent questions. The only real criticism I have is his use of the word "sexy." Even he prefaced his question with whether or not it was appropriate to use that word. I find the word "sexy" trite and offputting and, yes, inappropriately used here. I think the use of this word is a cop-out when there are so many other words in the English language that would more effectively communicate his intent. As for Gelong Thubten, he is very relatable and does a great job of making a "mysterious" concept like mindfulness easy to understand. He gives great tips on how to do it in a way that encourages commitment to see it through. He makes it clear that it is not a quick fix. He is also very insightful into the society that we have become that needs to be constantly stimulated. It's sad, really that the advances in communication technology have created a society of manipulated, selfish and craving people. Thank you for posting this to your channel.
