- As most gardens do, mine is flourishing this Spring. Cacti are blooming, the variegates are glowing and the bees are buzzing! I was a little miffed that you passed by the alluadia in the back yard! Nice to see the one in front and hear the chat on that. I had a nice medium specimen for many years and froze it eventually. Ugh.

I recommend taking the string of pearls out of the gutter next to Bentley’s toilet then take them and place them on some fresh soil in a wide & shallow pot and I think that it’ll recover really well and be happier.

Yay, my first WW since I subscribed! Your garden looks beautiful. Happy birthday, Laura and Greg! That vertical installation is sweet. I wish I could have gutters too but all I can get here are metal ones. I recently bought diatomaceous earth to get rid of pests. I sprinkled some on my succulents and blew the powder off the next day. I think it repelled the pesky nephews of Satan (ants). I'm excited too see your upcoming projects.

Love the wall hanging from the DFS team that includes the Oaxacan black pottery. It looks like where you are hanging it won't get direct sun. We learned the hard way when we left a black pottery sun and moon out on the patio table for months that it can crack in direct sun ;-( Love the idea of having lights inside.

Well..im in Michigan and our weather sucks! A lot of these succulent won't really thrive here😔😔... but there are a few that I can grow indoors!!

On a side note, a rat's nest?! OMG!! I think the entire thing would be thrown out; I would take the loss and start over. You are better than me and therefore, I would like to see how you guys take care of that issue.

Yay! This was fun! I spent about 3 hours getting veggie garden ready with my niece and great nephews today. I cleaned up her aloe gifted from her husbands grandmother and got 2 more pups. What a day in the fresh air here in Redding!

Hi Laura,you mentioned aphids and using alcohol. How exactly do you do that to get rid of them.Also do you suggest any particular bug killer for little black bugs,or ants,or cobwebs,or any infestation that is attacking the plants,or do I need to figure out the exact type of bug and use a different spray for each one? My jade plant has some cobwebs,and my barrel had lots of black ants and one of my other plants had what I believe to be aphids.So I'm just not sure what to use and would like to buy a general safe insecticide that wont damage the plants but I can use for most problems. Thanks again as always,Debbie

My cactus thrive, but I don't know why the succulent always end up rotting and I don't water that much... Seeing you garden make me both jealous and awed!

Yes, it is fun to watch the barrels grow. With mine, I wasn't sure, but this spring in their third and forth year they are definitely larger, and healthy as can be.

I recently found a blooming agave (don't know the variety) whise spent blooms had turned into what looked like a small plantlet. I brought it home and planted it in some soil, and now they have little roots.

How far apart do you plant bougainvilleas? I actually had five and then the city of Las Vegas wrote me a threatening letter about limiting my watering. So I believe they all five died. I’m about to replace them, but thinking maybe I should this time spread them out further so need to but fewer replacement plants. I’m also envious that you have someone to wire yours up to your block wall, I don’t know how to do that. I guess I’ll hire a handyman.

It is interesting that your jasmine blooms in Spring, as mine here in South Africa Johannesburg, blooms more towards Autumn/Winter. Laura what is the name of that hairy cactus that you have in the pot close to the bougainvillea.?

Are those cacti supposed to be that fuzzy. Mine is only fuzzy in one area, and mine is a yucky brown colored fuzz, not white like I saw in your intro?
