The OLD inadequate 20-letter abakada was amended, strengthened and empowered by ADDING all the missing alphabets that the OLD abakada miserably didn’t have, and that ADDITION was implemented in 1987, yes 1987, which was THIRTY-ONE (31) LONG, LLLONNNGGG YEARS AGO, and shortly after, was renamed ALFABETO (note the F in it?). I made mention about this some months ago, but it probably went in one ear and out the other. Such substitution of the F with the P is evident in most or in majority of the verbal and written vernacular communications in the Philippines, including the media like TV, internet, books, periodicals (eeew, please guys, no!). Where are the government, the schools, and the intelligentsia? Don’t they care at all? Campante lamang ba? Thirty-one years is over 3 decades long - too long indeed that it’s SO UNBELIEVABLE - are they going to ignore the F forever? What was the use of amending the OLD abakada if they do NOT implement the changes at all? That's unwise and irresponsible!!! Fortunately, the NON-Tagalogs (Cebuano, Ilocano, Bicolano, Kapampangan, Pangasinense, Ibanag, et al) have their own regional alphabets, which are more replete than the old Tagalog abakada. These NON-Tagalogs have always enunciated the F consonant correctly and appropriately, so if the NON-Tagalogs can do that, why CAN’T all the REMISS agencies that circulate and are televised all around the entire Philippine archipelago do it? Such agencies are expected to be teaching outlets and as contributing members to society. I have migrated to another country and besides loving my new country, I still love the Philippines and my countrymen. I know Filipinos are unfairly smeared by these ongoing faux pas.
