McNair was a 1-AA/FCS phenomenon. Some of Alcorn State's games actually got regional coverage on ABC, and ESPN televised this first-round playoff game when ordinarily it would only televise the 1-AA title game.

McNair was stuck in a Run-oriented offense in Tennessee with a coach (Jeff Fisher) who truly did not want him this was mentioned on ESPN by SENIOR STAFF REPORTER JOHN CLAYTON.
