Great compilation. As a kid back in the 1940's my father and his family used to go there for holidays from Matamata and Te Aroha. No bridges then so a long gravel road around Welcome Bay Rd to get there. How things have changed.

Was a great place to grow up, spent many an hour walking around the mount and summers on the beach back in the 80s and 90s. Great times, and era for me.

Thanks for the feedback Wayne. I’m planning to make another and I’ll let the slides linger a little longer.

You can pause on any photo you wish to examine at length if you wish. My parents moved to the Mount just after WW2 so this is fascinating to me who grew up here from the 1950's. They lived in the Post Office flats with pine trees around them, south of Salisbury Wharf. As young children we played on the beach where the Port now is. Lots of family stories from this era. Thanks for posting...I have sent it on to family members to enjoy.

Shame about the oak trees, the old Mount looks pretty bare, in the first photos. No sign of flax farms either 😢.

Had no idea there were so many trees back in the day,so different. Now just a few sad Norfolk pines and heaps of houses all squashed in.

Quite a few trees have been cut down by Council on the Mount recently because they weren't native.

@@nicolapicola4502 i was thinking of the trees along where houses now are not on the maunga itself

Always give the date otherwise I have to do it by the age of the cars.

These interesting images don't mean a lot without even an approximate date circa!! Whoever put this little lot together is certainly switched on!! (yeah right)
Not really worth the time watching as you need an approximate date circa to really be able to appreciate the associated image!! (understandee de englishee???)

Interesting video but would have been even better if a "date circa" (even just an approximate date) was shown on each photo slide otherwise this montage is pretty meaningless really!!
Sadly I didn't finish watching it as most of the time I was unable to relate to it despite being born locally!! (yeah right)
